Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer connecting to USB hard disc
Hi Red I spoke too soon. I watched as albums disappeared, library scan changed. M2p now unusable once more. Not a disaster though, I am sure it confirmed your theory about the power supply. I moved the m2p player to sit with the rest of hifi. Supply was now from extension block, shared with other kit. Fine for about an hour, but gradual loss of functionality. Thought initially too far from router, but only 5m, then as above. Noticed the lightning strike on permanently, very intermittent before It is a genuine raspb pi supply, but has splitter for pi with usb hard drive and 7"screen. I plan to install the jumpers from pi to screen and remove the splitter, then start again. I have ordered 128GB sandisk. Strangely I have no memory sticks of any capacity, just variet sd cards Once more, many thanks David37635 +---+ |Filename: P2P.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37635| +---+ inkpost's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64941 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116114 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Pimoroni Hyperpixel4 - pCP integration
The latest 5.15 kernels actually have new vc4 based hyperpixel overlays, but your settings seem to make sense, even though you have a duplicated dpi_output_format. I think the latter is the one that gets used by the firmware. I looked at at my 02W, and I have not even put a header on it yet..not sure I want to do that on this board, since it is my only one. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Force PCP to connect to LMS
Hi, Yes, I have 2. One is a Pi4B, also running LMS, and one is a Pi Zero 2. They were working for ~4 weeks on one network without issues, and then another week on the network they are currently on, and then it suddenly stopped working. I'll keep investigating to see if there was a network condition that caused the issue! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer connecting to USB hard disc
...or RedMan... David, one thing I need to clarify that I realize I didn't, rereading my post. Just grab any thumb drive and throw 5-20 songs on it. Just as a test. Mount it, scan it, see if you get more than zero. Then you will know. Once you can scan 1 or more, you know you can scan everything. I realize that you are thinking a large enough thumb drive for your whole library... Also, regarding power supply - I hope I was clear to make sure your rpi power supply is a good one. I am sure there are good after market on.es, but when I built my first picore, the good people here were insistent that I buy the "official" supply. It was cheap, why not? :) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116114 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer connecting to USB hard disc
Hi Gentlemen May I refer to you as Red Ronnie Your help has been great, it has enabled me to use a more systematic approach. Result, I have learned a lot about the system and how to optimise it Regarding the formatting glitch, I only have an old windows laptop repurposed with linux os, so the formatting was actually done using the synology NAS before copying across the music folder. I originally atempted a network mount, but that is another story Currently I don't have a suitable memory stick, but I will be getting one online and will get back to you I think the power thing is relevant, I was getting the lightning flash on 7" screen with both pcp and m2p The USB is a simple unpowered generic of dubious quality. I have similar 2.5" WD but it filled with other stuff Everything works on M2P so I will use that for moment. Perhaps PCP more sensitive to under power However, I would love to sort the PCP version, it seems such an elegant solution, only download required extensions Again many thanks, I will be back in few days with a better quality storage device having gone through Red's advice first David inkpost's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64941 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116114 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I am curious, I have found pCP always automatically finds LMS. Do you have more than one LMS on your network? Its braodcasts to find the LMS server, but you can force it on the squeezelite page. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Force PCP to connect to LMS
That's what I thought too - except one won't show up. Both devices already have different names on the Squeezelite page. Is there nowhere in PCP to tell it the IP of the LMS? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: LMS Monitor 2020
I have trouble using LMS Monitor using along with 3.5 inch TFT. everytime I start LMS Monitor. MY LCD goes white but OLED display LMSMonitor. I want to use both LCD for jivelite screen and OLED for LMSmonitor. I tried using command sudo ./lmsmonitor --name "piCorePlayer" -D19 -R22 -C24 -o6 -x0x3c -B1 (For my LCD Data = 19, Reset=22 ChipSelect=24 as per LCDwiki) This time both works. But LCD displays (scanline short of thing, and reverse color like thing after every second) How can I avoid conflicting LMS monitor with LCD screen? amanker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=72694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111790 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer connecting to USB hard disc
Man in a van wrote: > > I am completely puzzled :( > > ronnie If ronnie is puzzled, there are challenges ahead...but we can't have to listen to only 0 songs. :) David, I think you mentioned this, but at this point this is where I would just use a USB stick drive (just leave it formatted fat32), and load an album or three of music. Then load the external file systems in pCP (see my previous post), mount the thumb drive, point LMS to the music, and scan. In fact I would also unmount and disconnect your USB HDD, just in case. I'm a big believer in eliminating variables to narrow down the problem. If the thumb disk works, it doesn't solve the problem, but it tells you where it is. In fact, my next step would be to format the thumb drive to ext4, and try again. Jim PS - if you suspect the HDD check the power requirements. Pi's can only deliver 1.2A (total all ports) through the USB, and I would not want to exceed 80% of that. It could be (guessing) that your drive works fine to access the filemap (find the music), but when it spins up to scan is where the problems occur. Also, your pi power supply can be suspected. It is where the USB power needs to come from. During spin up, it might be able to supply the current, but cause the voltage to dip. Just a few wild guesses. But in my experience, weird stuff is often power related.
