All needed settings are in the web-UI .

The win settings app only adds a few things like "run as a service"
that's irrelevant in Linux as it always runs a "service" daemon with its
own user ( you figure when file permissions gets you ) and always
autostart so you don't need tray to do that.
Tray icon in windows also contains a web browser link to loclahost aka
127.0.0.1 but just make our own bookmark.

And the win control panel also have "clear cache" but you can just go to
the cache folder and delete stuff yourself .

I probably missed a few things

It does not have a GUI , you find it in the web browser just type
http://127.0.0.1:9000 in any web browser on the lubuntu machine ,there
is no tray icon in Linux .

I don't see any indication of the SB server already running - doesn't
show up anywhere at all in the GUI...

Can you open up http://localhost:9000 (or replace localhost with your
server's IP address)? Check the task list for anything like "logitech",
"slimserver", or "squeezebox".

Hi,
since these scripts are "my" work - it would be a good hint if you could
told me som more about the non functionalty of that script.

There are lots of missing or empty sqlite_stat1 table - one should be
good, but not more.

Whats the output of
Code:

ls -l /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache

 is it "squeezeboxserver nogroup" ?
Please stop lms again and delete all the files in

Please also provide the output of:

Code:

/usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --d_startup --debug server

Well, just a thought. There are various docker builds for LMS, but you
need to have done the hard work of getting an OS running with docker
first.

You don't need many builds, just an i386 build would do, as it's to hit
the sweet spot of people having issues with the windows on x86 case.
People won't want to virtualise on ARM. Agree that maintenance would be
a pain. Perhaps I can puppet it up and get them all to pull updates,
like a massive LMS botnet.. ;)

the amount of stuff that is broken is still less than most full on

Now it is. I added the binaries a few minutes ago. Unfortunately our
build system is gone for the Thanksgiving weekend... and I'm not sure
it's ever coming back :-(. I might need to replace it.

So... if you can't wait, and feel comfortable doing some command line
work, you'd find the files here:

https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/tree/public/7.9/CPAN/arch/5.24

You'd have to put them somewhere below /usr/share/squeezeboxserver or
the like. Just look for te 5.22 folder and put above next to it.

AFAIK deb package was updated /renamed to logitechmediaserver and there
is a workaround for older versions like

Code:

DESC="Logitech Media Server"
  NAME=squeezeboxserver
  NEWNAME=logitechmediaserver
  DAEMON=/usr/sbin/$NAME
  \snip
  /snap
  DAEMON_SAFE=/usr/sbin/${NAME}_safe

thats not consistent in debian as well - but (see the trouble with some
not worling and obsolete plugins) thats aleays a hard tricky stuff do
do.

Most of the users didnt read any Howto, many didnt update their Versions
and run stuff like 7.7.

And tbh its a dumb idea to change the name right now (think of 7.9 isnt
"logitech" any more)..
We should just leave it like it is...

Hi,
1st of all forget all the x windows related answers.
2nd do a search for wiki.slimdevices.com for debian/ubuntu
3rd remember debian & Ubuntu removed sysint (because of systemd) and the
how on the wiki is related to sysinit.

And last but not least what kind of Lubuntu you are using = Jessie
should be fine - the testing strech has another perl on board.

Check the output for your server log file - should be
/var/log/squeezeboxserver/server.log.

Is there anything about perl?

Code:

sudo dpkg -i logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1479666929_all.deb

that's how I do it with a joggler which runs ubuntu (that last bit
logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1479666929_all.debI just highlight and
rightclick from the preceding line).

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Starting LMS on Lubuntu - help please!

2016-11-22 Thread daytripper

Thanks again, but still no joy. If I use try and start the service, I
get:

Failed to start squeezeboxserver.service: Unit
squeezeboxserver.service not found.

When I reboot the netbook, SB server no longer appears in the gallery of
installed softwares. Unsurprisingly, if I try to start it after the
reboot, it comes up w. the same message as above...

Seems it's not installing properly... Any guidance?

Did you already start squeezeboxserver? Sometimes a reboot will do, or
else in terminal:

Code:

sudo service squeezeboxserver start

It will ask you your admin password.

(atleast this works on openSUSE)

It runs in the background, you need to open a web browser and type in
the URL bar: http://localhost:9000/
