*Description*
*This position is the primary point of accountability to provide strategic
planning and portfolio management support to ensure the effective execution
and implementation of medium to large sized business intelligence projects
and/or programs that support achievement of Travelers Enterprise Business
Intelligence goals. The Project Director works closely with Stakeholders
across the Enterprise to ensure execution excellence over all aspects of
the project activities to ensure that established cost, time, quality and
business goals are met. The Project Director works with minimal supervision
and is responsible for applying advanced Project Management knowledge,
skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and
systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
Additionally, the Project Director has proven experience leading successful
Enterprise investment initiatives in a large, matrixed corporate
organization. The Project Director also has strong verbal/written
communication skills and advanced presentation skills. The Project Director
operates within defined parameters using a proven Project Management
Methodology with flexibility to merge different methodologies in
accomplishing collective goals. *

*Description *
*-The Project Director plans, organizes, leads and controls the execution
of projects to ensure that commitments are met within established cost,
time, scope and quality goals. *
*-Accountable for the oversight and management of a series of medium to
large-sized, complex projects and design/oversight of the support model to
ensure proper usage and operational efficiencies are achieved. *
*-Leads multiple, concurrent projects in a large, complex matrix
environment with teams consisting of LOB stakeholders and Technical
resources. *
*-Strong execution skills, applying sound project management principles,
tools and techniques in the delivery of business capabilities which meet
customer expectations. *
*-Has strong communication skills and provides messaging and presentations
in business terms. *
*-Drives execution excellence and operational efficiencies across the
portfolio. *
*-Produces accurate and timely status reporting that covers the full range
of project measures *
*-Produce health dimensions (schedule, budget, scope, quality and overall) *
*-Manage and communicate Recent accomplishments, Upcoming deliverables of
business capabilities, Issues and Resolution Plans, Risks and Mitigation
Strategies, Project Phase timelines and percentage complete. *

*Responsibilities *
*-Understands and applies effective project management standards and
processes. *
*-Manage multiple projects concurrently. *
*-Provides expertise and consulting to others in the process of project
management and in the softer skills of team dynamics, team building and
group motivation. *
*-Provides mentoring, coaching and direction setting to team members. *
*-Operates within a defined Project Management methodology but continuously
improves project management toolkits and methodologies employed. *
*-Lead project teams to successful project delivery while managing to the
committed scope, schedule and timeline. *
*-Manage the quality of delivered projects to achieve the desired business
value. *
*-Provides oversight to the Production Support model to ensure operational
efficiencies are achieved. *
*-Monitor project progress and take corrective action proactively in order
to keep the project on track. *
*-Strong understanding and use of change control processes. *
*-Effectively and proactively communicates project status. *
*-Develop a strong partnership with IT and business to promote a one team
mindset in which all groups work together to drive business value and
efficiency. *

*Skills / Experience *
*-10+ years experience in increasingly responsible roles in project
management within the financial services industry, specific experience in
Business Intelligence or an Enterprise role a plus *
*-Ability to comprehend and speak to complex business usage and benefits of
Business Intelligence *
*-Outstanding record of project management success, both in terms of
results achieved and in the use of professional methodology. *
*-Pro-active in developing and implementing strategies that significantly
mitigate risk. *
*-Strong leadership and team building experience in a highly-matrixed
environment. *
*-Has proven experience leading projects consisting of both business and IT
team members. *
*-Has proven experience leading other project managers. *
*-Demonstrates superior inter-personal skills, conflict resolution, and
negotiating skills. *
*-Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships across
diverse teams consisting of both business and IT team members. *
*-Frequent and effective communication and collaboration skills both within
and across project teams. *
*-Ability to motivate teams and build momentum as the project lifecycle
progresses. *

*Education *
*-MBA and/or BS in an Engineering or Technical Discipline. *
*-MS in a technical discipline a plus.*
