Job Title : SAS Analyst Location : Richmond, VA Duration : 6 Months Description and Responsibilities SAS is seeking a senior Business Intelligence Analyst to work with our customer, a medium-sized health insurance company in Richmond Virginia. The consultant will be responsible for the following: Conducting ad-hoc SQL queries and report building. Analyzing data using descriptive statistical methods. Optimizing jobs when possible so that they run faster or consume fewer resources. Performing some data management tasks, such as the migration of data between data stores (such as Teradata to Netezza). Establishing best practices for using SAS Enterprise Guide on a SAS Grid. Automation of jobs through the use of tools such as scripts and schedulers. Packaging re-usable code into stored processes. Integration of SAS with Microsoft Excel using the SAS Add-in for Microsoft Excel. Working on projects with little direct supervision, utilizing effective troubleshooting skills, and leveraging a customer-focused demeanor. Applying good oral and written communication skills. Understanding and translating the customer’s business requirements into workable SAS technical approaches. Leading and/or actively participating in SAS knowledge-sharing activities. Qualifications – Essential Bachelor degree in related field such as computer science, information science, or data science, or statistics. Experience submitting SAS jobs on SAS Grid software. Experience with SAS 9.4 is a must. Experience installing and configuring SAS software clients. Experience with SAS metadata such as defining libraries, creating metadata folder structures, and setting permissions and access controls. Implementation experience with core SAS software, including: Conducting analyses with Base SAS, including SAS procedures and SAS data step code, and SQL. Performing ad-hoc querying, analysis, data management, and report building in SAS Enterprise Guide. Training and supporting new users with little SAS experience and who are new to SAS and SAS Enterprise Guide. Accessing data and running SAS stored processes from with Microsoft Excel through SAS Add-in for Microsoft Excel. Supporting users of SAS Enterprise Miner. Connecting to data sources via the SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata and to Netezza. Strong problem solving abilities.
