Re: On-Rev: Odin emails rejected due to poor reputation

2013-04-20 Thread RevList
I would contact Shaw directly on this one. They are using a blacklisting
service called Cloudmark which in my opinion is completely irresponsible.
I have a business account with Shaw and host my own email server for my
business. Every few months, I wonder why people are not getting my emails. It
turns out that Cloudmark has blacklisted my
domain and email is going into people's Spam folders as a result. I get no
notification that my entire domain has been blacklisted for every account on my
server (there are only 3 of us, but still
there are a lot of important emails that go out to Shaw customers on the
shaw.ca domain)
No other blacklisting service lists my domain as being questionable. Shaw just
says that they have no control and they cannot tell me why it gets blacklisted.
I request that it gets delisted and it
does, but I have no idea when it will happen again.

Please report this to shaw and ask why it is being blacklisted and ask to get
it removed.

HELP! - Linefeeds and Mac Vs Windows

2012-03-11 Thread RevList
I have a stack that builds a perl script.
It works just fine when I create the script on Windows. When I open the saved
script that is created on the windows version of my app in NotePad, it looks
just fine and works great with my PERL cgi.
If I use the same stack on Mac and generate the same perl script on the mac and
then copy it over to my Windows box and open it in NotePad, it appears that all
of the Returns are missing and the Perl
CGI fails.

I am assuming then, that PERL needs the line feeds that are created when I save
the file out on Windows.

Building the file is simple. I just concatenate a bunch of string together and
use the RETURN key word to separate lines.

I tried using CRLF instead of RETURN and got the same results when viewed in
notepad. No wrapping of the lines.

I have compared the two versions of the files in editors that allow me to show
the invisible characters and they look identical.
Comparing the two in BBEdit indicates the files are identical, yet when I open
them in NotePad, they clearly are not.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here and how I can get the Mac version to
look like the Win version?
You can download the files for comparison yourself at
http://www.createchsol.com/perlscripts.zip

I would greatly appreciate any help one can give me.

Because when you use file:, all line endings will be converted to whatever

isotomac depending on what you do with the text and where it's saved.
This does not appear to make any difference at all. I used binfile instead of
file: and got the same results.
I am not sure mactoiso would make any difference as all as all of the
characters are below ASCII 128 so the mactoiso would do nothing.

No matter what I do, when I create the text file on a Mac and view it in
Windows, there are no line breaks wherever there was a return.
Any other ideas? Anyone?

NotePad won't break text on only a linefeed character. It needs CRLF. BBEdit
will display text with either line ending. I think if you open the Mac
version with WordPad on Windows, it will
display as expected.

If you save the files from Livecode using the binfile url style (or binary
write), the files will be identical and have lf line endings, but probably
won't display properly in Notepad. I think
they will work as Perl scripts on either platform.

I think the main problem here is Notepad. You may want to look for a better
text editor on Windows. (e.g. Notepad ++ )

Thanks for the suggestions. In fact, I use Notepad Plus and it was opening the
original one saved by using file: and it looked fine. Perl just didn't like
it.
I switched now to binfile: to save the file and NotePad still sucks, but at
least my perl script is now working.
Thanks again for the support this group offers in such a timely manner.

have changed for me lately and it looks like if I want to continue developing
using LiveCode, I am going to have to maintain the licensing costs myself.

This is under Commercial License Options

When I log in to my account, I see I have purchased
LiveCode Development Tools
Mobile Deployment: iOS
Mobile Deployment: Android
Mobile Deployment: Win 6.5 (Pre-Release)

Beside the following, I am seeing Update Addon
Desktop Deployment: Mac + Windows // $129
Desktop Deployment Linux // $129
Web Deployment // $99

And Buy addon for
Server Deployment // $299
Livecode Box // $15

The last two make sense, never purchased.

What does the second category mean? Does this mean that my license has
expired, and if I want to be able to deply stand alone apps for Mac, Windows
and Linux I have to pay?
Is the Web Deployment the web plugin?

How long is the license good for?
How can I find out when the other licenses expire?

Thanks in advance is someone can point me to where this is explained.

iRev Form Question

2011-04-14 Thread RevList
I have to admit that I seldom use my on-rev acoount and have just been using it
to host some mailto form submissions.
This has all worked well for me for a basic form submission when the form just
has text entry boxes
I store the entered data into the rev variable using ?rev put VarName ?

Like this
input type=text name=email size=50 maxlength=80 value=?rev put
tEmail ? /

Now, I am the first to admit, I know only enough about form creation on html
and On-rev to be dangerous.

Now, I need to add a new selection field to my form and store that data in tSal

I don't know how to do this.

To create the selection list, I use
SELECT name=Salution
OPTION selected value=-- Please Select --/OPTIONOPTION
value=MrMr/OPTIONOPTION value=MrsMrs/OPTIONOPTION
value=MsMs/OPTION/SELECT

Where do I put ?rev put tSal ?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer this. I am under the gun to
complete this project and can't find any quick reference to solve this for me.

OT: Colour Palette app accepted to Mac App Store

Created with LiveCode.
Thanks for all the good tips here on how to get the app accepted on the App

Colour Palette makes it easy for web designers and graphic artists to keep
track of colours used in various projects. You can build and arrange colour
schemes for each project, tracking each colour
purpose and having immediate access to the RGB and Hex values for each colour.

Not much help, but maybe useful.

It is the Answer Color that I am most interested in. I know I could roll

There is no way that I am going to try to roll my own version of this one

to do that and position the picker in the right location.

Position of Answer Dialog

2011-03-05 Thread RevList
I have an enhancement suggestion. I do not always want to have the Answer
dialog box show up as a sheet on OS X. The problem is that it always
centers it on the screen, rather than on the active window as it does on
Windows.
I would prefer to be able to control this position. This particularly
applies to Answer Color. I want to have the color picker open right by
the control that I click on, and not way off to the center of the screen.

Drag and Drop Row Arrangement in DataGrid

2011-03-03 Thread RevList
I don't know if this is possible or not, but I thought I would ask.
If you turn off sorting in a datagrid, is it possible to do drag and drop
rearranging of rows?
Has anyone done this?
Is there a lesson on this, or does someone have a sample stack that would
demonstrate this?

Thank in advance.

It does beg the question though, whether or not a drag and drop in a
sorted datagrid will disable the sort! It certainly should! You can
probably handle this in your dragDrop or dragReorderDrop handler.

I have Data Grid Helper, but as you point out, it is the code that is
holding me back. I am not at all clear how to implement this and was
hoping that there was a sample stack out there somewhere where someone had

Nevermind. I just went back to my Developer Conference DVD set from

BTW, this video is excellent to help one understand how data grids work

OpenField/ExitField Handlers in Datagrid?

2011-02-27 Thread RevList
Seems to be my day for questions.
I am building an app and want to control the enabling and disabling of
menu items based on where the cursor is. Mostly, I have no problem,
except when I am in a datagrid.
I have a datagrid that has only one editable column. When I double click
on that column on a row and get into that specific field for editing, I
want to enable some menu items (like Copy, paste). When I exit that
field, I want to disable them.
On other fields in the card, I do this on the OpenField and ExitField
handlers.
How do I do this in a Datagrid?

As always, thanks for anyone who can help. An unusual snow storm in
Vancouver has me coding today on a pet project.

it Never works in the simulator, but 100% of the time in the IDE.

iOS Interface Design

2010-12-26 Thread RevList
I have been coding my app for the iPhone and things are going reasonably
well on the coding side now that I am running 4.5.3 (rc3)

Coding right now is not the issue, though I am sure I will run into all
sorts of issues soon as I start to add more functionality.
What I am really struggling with is how to make my controls look like
native controls. Right now, the app looks like it was designed for
Windows 3.1 or Mac OS 6.
I know that I can start adding graphics as a background, but what about
some of the native LiveCode controls like scrolling text fields and Option
Buttons that bring up the picker? How are people getting those controls
to look like native iOS controls.

Are there sample files for this or a white paper on best practice on how
to simulate this?
If my app was just a bunch of buttons and static text like I see on the
turorials, then not a problem, but what about the other controls?

It would be great if Rev/LiveCode could produce a few sample apps that
would focus on the UI and how to make the apps look professional.

BTW, what ever happened to the Build an App series that was started on
the company blog. It has stalled on Day 3/4.

Option MenuPick in iOS

2010-12-25 Thread RevList
I am working on my first app for iOS and have an option menu button that
works fine in the IDE but not in the Simulator.
When the card loads, it populates the menu options of the option menu
button from values in a field on the card

   put empty into button SiteList
put Select Site into line 1 of button SiteList
Put New Site into line 2 of button SiteList
repeat with i = 3 to the number of Lines in fld SiteData + 2
put Item 1 of line i-2 of field SiteData into line i of button
SiteList
   end repeat
set the label of btn SiteList to Select Site

That works fine.

When I select one of the menu items it should then populate other fields
on the card and this works fine in the IDE, but not in the simulator.

It appears as the menuPick is not recognized at all.

Any ideas?

  Put pItemName into field SiteName
Put item 2 of line theLine - 2 of field SiteData into field Lat

Data Grid Column Alignment

2010-12-02 Thread RevList
I have a data grid with a custom that I set to right align and when I
assign the dgText to this data grid, the column in question is right
aligned.
However, when I create a function that applies a transformation to that
number and override the default rendering through a column behaviour , the
alignment switches to left align.

I tried set the dgColumnAlignment[Distance] of group dgMileageLog to
right but nothing changes.
The properties on that column are set to right align.

All values in the column are 2 decimals so I want them to align to the
right so that the decimals line up.

Is there something that can be done about this besides using the technique
in the Rev lessons for aligning decimals in a column. (Which didn't work
for me BTW).
A simple right align is all I need, but it isn't working.

Thanks in advance for any solution.
