Latest video -- integration of AI into script editor

2023-05-17 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode
Hi Mark

I’m really pleased to hear you enjoyed the video. What I would say is our
testing so far has been extremely impressive, it was the inspiration to make
that video. But you’re right, AI won’t get the script right every time and we
have to handle that carefully. If the script that comes back won’t compile then
Xavvi will intervene to make sure you are not actually accepting code that
won’t run. However there may be instances where it supplies code that does
compile but is still not what you hoped for, in the first instance we are
providing an opt in to training feature where you can provide a thumbs up or
thumbs down to the code you have been supplied as well as give a description on
what was good or bad about it. Additionally there will always be options to
accept or decline the result and try again with a slightly tweaked prompt. I
hope this helps.

2022-08-18 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode
Hi Mike

I see the issue now. If you were to load this in the latest LiveCode 10 DP you
would not get that error (this is why I was not seeing it earlier).

LiveCode 10 has an LCB feature that is required for this specific error not to
occur. That LCB feature is not present in any LC9 version

2022-08-18 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode
Hi Mike,

I just tested the lazy load example and hit populate and clicked around etc and
could not trigger an error.

Can you let me know what the error was?

I would say just to double check that are you are using the most recent
version. I understand that we need to make some improvements regarding the
notification of updates on these new widgets and we will do that. In the
meantime we have implemented a last updated date in the my account area, so
it’s well worth checking in on that from time to time to see if there is a new
update available.

Thanks

Re: Anyone in the list who can successfully use the new PolyGrid widget?

2022-06-17 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode
Yes please. if you first empty the text data and then delete the column it
should work as expected.

But if you can submit it to QC we can look into further.

Thanks
Steven

Anyone in the list who can successfully use the new PolyGrid widget?

2022-06-17 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode
Hi Matthias

We’ve just uploaded an update for the LiveCode Enhancements bundle which fixes
this issue, you can re download this from your account area. It also fixes the
magic palette issue that you reported, for this one you may have to click on
the cog/gear button on the bottom right of the magic palette and clear cache,
then restart LiveCode.

Thanks
Steven

Re: Feature Race: Pick Your Project

2017-07-06 Thread Steven Crighton via use-livecode

Hi everyone

I just wanted to chip in on this one. For those of you who don't know
me, I work on the marketing at LiveCode.

Our communication strategy has been on my mind for quite some time and I
hold my hands up that we have not done a good job on communicating the
progress of the Infinite LiveCode project. From when we launched our
Infinite LiveCode campaign to where the Infinite LiveCode technology is
today there were lots of opportunities to keep you up to date with the
incredible tech our team was producing that were missed.

This is something we are talking about right now and it's something we
are fixing right now. Sorry for keeping you in the dark, it won't happen
again!

Hopefully with the post Ali put out last week you can see all of the
work that has gone into Infinite LiveCode and are as excited as I am
about the opportunities this creates for our platform.

As for the Faster Graphics / DataGrid project that is funding right now,
there is a real chance of this funding. It has gone from 36% funded at
this time yesterday to 62% funded at the time of writing this post. If
this does fund, I promise that when we have something to share on that
project, no matter how big or small, we'll share it.

[Blog] Better theming in LiveCode 8

2016-03-10 Thread steven . crighton

Dear List Members

Fraser has posted to the LiveCode blog talking about the improved
theming in LiveCode 8.

"LiveCode uses each platform’s theming libraries (where available) to
ensure that applications look as close as possible to native
applications. Over time, however, the appearance that LiveCode provides
and that of native applications have moved apart. In LiveCode 8, we have
performed a lot of work in bringing LiveCode back to parity with native
applications and to ensure it stays there, even when they change in
future."

Here is a link to the blog post.

Re: Learning Materials

2015-10-10 Thread Steven Crighton
Thanks for your messages on the new learning course.

We are constantly working on improving our learning materials. Create it V1
was a good start but as you pointed out it did come with some issues.

With this version we have decided to focus our efforts by creating a course
with less apps but greater content and strengthened resources.

We have rewritten the code, added more learning outcomes, filmed new videos
and created brand new slides.

Unlike the original Create it course this new course is available without
the need for a paid license subscription.

Everyone who was part of Create it V1 will receive this course in their
account at some point next week with no extra charge.

Thanks

Steven Crighton
