Re: where has Runrevs page with programming offers gone?

2014-01-22 Thread Dave Kilroy
I paid to get listed the best part of a year ago (it seemed like a good idea
at the time). It was when they first announced it and before
http://livecode.com went live.

The process was (at that time) a conversation with Heather, and me putting
together about 100 words as a profile. I think the idea was that there would
be a listing of consultants each with their profile and a link to their
website - but I see now that there is just a name and a link.

I'm not aware of any leads coming to me specifically through this route...

Kind regards

where has Runrevs page with programming offers gone?

2014-01-21 Thread Tiemo Hollmann TB
Hello,

in the past there has been a page in the runrev web with LiveCode
consultants / developers, offering their capacities.

Does anybody knows, if this page still exists and where it has gone?

Thanks

Note that being listed as a consultant used to be free. When RunRev started
asking €200 for it, only a handful consultants decided to be listed. I didn't.

Hi Stephen,

It used to be like that, but not anymore.

I wonder if there is an interest in a list of consultants, completely
free? I could quickly put a simple website on an appropriate domain.

Anyone interested can e-mail me off-list.

That is very generous, Mark, but it would lack the punch that the mother
ship would give.
The same goes for attempts to offer stacks or documentation to make up for
the lack of them at the mother ship. Charging for inclusion just makes
the list subject to the highest bidder - so the reason for dropping the
'approved list' can't be a liability one. It might as well be the 'Yellow
Pages'.

Same here. $200 a year for a hidden web page? WTF? I told Heather that
I could be interested if there were actual links to the page and they
had some way of promoting it, but as is it's a useless feature. In
order to find the page you first of all have to know it exists, and
then paw through all the menu items searching for it. Kind of the
opposite of hanging out a shingle. Worse, the only thing that's
attention-grabbing on the page is a mega-bundle ad, and the rest is
just text links that don't give any more information until you follow
them through to the developer's own site.
