Parsing the content of the clipboardData[objects] array

2010-07-18 Thread zryip theSlug
Dear List,

Can anyone have experience with the clipboardData[objects] array and
could give some clues how is it internally structured, please?
I read in the doc: one or more Revolution objects serialized into an
internal format but I've found any entry about this internal format.

TIA.

Re: Playing a movie in Linux

2010-07-18 Thread Peter Alcibiades

Richmond, presumably you used the command to set which the movie player is?
You did

 set videoClipPlayer

and gave the full path of the executable? I've never done this, but it
sounds like it ought to work. Yes, the instructions in the dictionary on
what is the default do seem a little out of time.

Maybe the answer is, go out to shell and do the command in the shell.

If you do call it from a shell script, you will not have to give the
absolute path, just the command with the appropriate command line parameters
should do.

On what the default player is, it will likely depend on the DTE as well as
the distro. With Gnome, it will be mplayer. With a KDE install, it will be
the KDE player. A bit like, if you are using Evolution for email, it will
open the Gnome browser unless you set the properties and tell it different.
If you are using kmail, even on a basically Gnome system, it will open links
in Konqueror.

We don't often do video, but the other day someone filmed a clip, copied it
from camera to desktop, and it it simply played as soon as we opened it
without any further intervention. So if you do use the shell, it should
work fine.

The problem; and it is a problem, is that embedded videoClips seem to
crash the IDE
and as each distro and / or window manager works with a different movie
player
end-users of standalines would (quite how, one wonders) have to set
pathways both for

non-embedded video materials and for their specific video player.

File Path Issue

2010-07-18 Thread David C.
Hey folks,
I have a user that specifically wants to generate a set of text files
inside the same folder location that the executable resides in,
regardless of where that may be on the drive. Apparently he will be
running the application on an OS like Win XP which allows such thing
-or- in the administrator role. The files always use the same names,
so at least that isn't much of an issue.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the right combo to script the folder
location to suit his needs...
...can anyone help with an example that might actually work?

Best regards,

Re: File Path Issue

2010-07-18 Thread Colin Holgate
Would using the stacks do? Any stacks that are open will be listed with their
paths. A quick test here, with an openstack handler of put the stacks into
field 1, gives this:

/Users/colin/Desktop/stacks/MacOSX/stacks.app/Contents/MacOS/stacks

where stacks was the name I gave the standalone. I could set the
itemdelimiter to . and get rid of the embedded part, and then to / to get
rid of the app's name part, to then know the path to where the application is.

Re: [OT-Rodeo] Last minute call to get onboard with pre-realase conditions!

2010-07-18 Thread Andrew Kluthe

I am surprised by the many things revealed during this month's summit!

Data Objects
New ways to set object properties from other objects
A New Editor
A clearer explanation of the different forms that deployment can take. (Web
App, Desktop App, etc)

I was hesitant, but seeing the features pour in after 5 weeks and knowing
that with a few more additions we can start to build some really neat apps,
I am thrilled to watch and participate as rodeo becomes matures very
quickly.

Release price (in august) is likely to be higher than 99 a year or the 89
that you would pay if you were to get it now.

Plus if you get in now, you can get rodeo transfer for free!

Table field edits

2010-07-18 Thread Bill Vlahos
1. I made a field called attachments and use the Geometry Manager to scale
the right side of the field to the window. Set the stack for live resizing.

With the following card handlers it works but the screen updates lag and the
tab stops don't always get set to the same correct spot.

on resizeStack -- to adjust tab stops for attachments field
   resetTabStops
   pass resizeStack
end resizeStack

on resetTabStops
set the tabstops of field attachments to 200, (the width of field
attachments - 30)
end resetTabStops

2. Is there a way to inhibit cell movement upon a return key press?
Normally when finished editing a cell and pressing Return it goes to the cell
below. Can I prevent that from happening and just stay in the same cell?

Thanks,

Bill Vlahos

Re: Personal suggestion for fixing the Linux situation

2010-07-18 Thread François Chaplais
Perhaps you you could try my docu stacks, which are atop BVG docu. they are
currently on RevOnline: search for chaplais in the category Development.
The initialization stack fills the target stack with dictionary entries. Then
you can save the new myDict stack.
You can, for instance, look for player in the name field
or: in the name *or* summary field
or: in the name or summary or description field.
the PDF doc can be generated from a button on the initialization stack. You
will find more explanations here.

Re: Personal suggestion for fixing the Linux situation

2010-07-18 Thread Björnke von Gierke
Sorry, I didn't see this topic until today.

I use the filter command on a list to find the search terms. So what you need
is to search for *player (asterix at the start).

Most of the time I am looking for a specific terms syntax. So normally I do not
want all ocurence of player anywhere, bu know that I want the player object's
entry (for example). That is why I made it this way.

have fun

The only suggestion I have is to be careful of the replace comma with cr in
tFiles line - if there's a comma in the file name you'll get a wrong
result. Also you get a bunch of extra crap when you have the full paths to
the files when using files of folderfolder.

Try this instead (watch the line wraps):

  function getFiles pFolder
 put revMacFromUnixPath(pFolder) into pFolder
 put replaceText(tell app `Finder` cr \
the name of every file of folder ` pFolder ` cr \
   end tell,`,quote) into tScript
   do tScript as AppleScript
   put replaceText(char 3 to -3 of the result,(quote , quote),CR) into
tList
   return tList
end getFiles

Thanks Ken, you're right of course. I should have known you'd regex
something. :)

Would have replied sooner but we lost our electricity most of last
night. I bet the same gigantic thunderstorm hit you too. There was a
tornado touch-down just north of here.

Re: RevWeb, IE and saving data

After more testing, this problem only occurs when the revlet is run from

I'm not sure what's causing the problem but it sounds like a permissions
issue. Doesn't IE block a lot of that kind of thing unless you set its
internet security level lower?

Thanks Jerry, sorry I couldn't be there; personal matters on Saturday at the
