RE: how to extract the true page name after redirect

2014-01-22 Thread James Liang
Nevermind, the problem is not the Regular Expression Extractor. That actually
works fine and will follow the redirect to get the page name. The problem is
with the graph results component. When it create the output csv file, it
doesn't follow the redirect url.

Thanks,

Subject: how to extract the true page name after redirect

Hi,

I am trying to extract the page name after a url redirect. For example, suppose

get http://foo.com/login auto redirects to http://foo.com/main

I'd like to extract the page name main instead of login Note that my
jmeter login sample is set to Follow Redirects

I used the Regular Expression Extractor to extract the name and that worked
great for for pages that don't redirectly. However, it doesn't get run for the
redirected page at all.

Also note that what I really wanted is to get the page name for used with Save
Responses to a file component. This way, I get a copy of the html page with
the name that matches the url.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
James Liang

Re: How to record Registration page and replay using HTTP Request Sampler and also parameterise some fields in the forms?

2014-01-22 Thread charan sethi
Well you can record the registeration steps using Jmeter Test Script
Recorder(Version 2.10) or jmeter proxy server in earlier versions. Now you
need to identify in the recorded requests the parameters you need to pass
for example username and pasword. Add a CSV data config element in your
thread group and add user, pass in it against variables. Now make a csv file
and add the username and passwords in it. Put the full path of the csv in
the csv data config element. Now to use these values you need to identify
the parameters in your request and put the variables you defined in the CSV
data config element like this ${user} against username and ${pass} against
password. Each thread would read one line in your CSV.

You also would need to add a HTTP cookie manager in your thread group to
manage cookies for your virtual users. If your having trouble recording,
the steps are as follows

Add HTTPS test recorder under workbench and set target controller to thread
group after inserting a thread group under your test plan.
Set the proxy in your browser to localhost and port 8080
Now Press Start button on your Test recorder.
Perform actions on your browser and you will see the requests getting
recorded.

These are the parameters

The path for the csv file and the variables
[image: Inline image 2]

The CSV files

I hope this helps

is there a way to summarize stats by url pattern?

2014-01-22 Thread James Liang
Hi all,

Some of the urls in my jmeter test samples only varies in the query string.
Others are completely different url. I'd like to get statistical summary
grouped by a url pattern.

for example:
http://test.com/hello?a=5
http://test.com/hello?a=6
http://test.com/welcome

I'd like to see a summary of average response and throughput that combines the
2 http://test.com/hello*. The http://test.com/welcom has its separate average
response and throughput.

Is there a way to do this in jmeter?

Thanks,

how-to or feature request for loaded results into a listener

2014-01-22 Thread Glenn Caccia
I'm thinking of adding a feature request, but wanted to first make sure I'm not
missing something.  I currently use JMeter along with JMeter-Plugins and use
graphing listeners from both for analyzing results.  When the test is actually
running, these listeners are disabled, but then after the test I can load the
results from file to get the graphs.  I would like to compare results from two
different runs and was thinking of having a JMeter script that only has the
listeners (including JMeter-Plugins' Composite Graph), duplicated twice for
each run.  Once results were loaded from file, I could easily compare the two
runs and even create custom overlay views using the Composite Graph.  The
problem is that I have to manually click the BROWSE button for each listener to
load the exact same results file.  It works, but it's a hassle.  It would be
nice if all listeners could be triggered to reload results from their indicated
source files from a single
toolbar button or something like that.

Is there currently a way to achieve this?  Does this seem like a good feature
request?

Thanks,

Glenn

to add the sampler label itself can be dynamic (so you could for e.g.
execute a function that strips out query string assuming you were reading
all URLs from a file)

The simplest way is to change the sampler labels in the test plan.

In the non-gui mode 'csv' log file, how would I calculate throughput?

2014-01-22 Thread Robin D. Wilson
I'm using the non-gui mode for some testing, and I'd like to attempt to
replicate closely what I get on the gui-mode summary report. The only thing I'm
missing is the 'throughput' values...

From the standard data available in the non-gui log file, can someone tell me
how to calculate throughput that is similar to the gui-mode summary report's
throughput numbers?

(BTW, 'iterations/duration' doesn't work at all...)

How to ensure the values i submitted with the request have saved in the required db table using jmeter?

2014-01-22 Thread charan sethi
I want to check if 1000 concurrent users log in a website within a
specified period of time and register and provide payment details then for
every User i wanna check the details submitted in the database are
accurate for each user.

Is it possible that i can add a JDBC request which can provide me the
details for every user immediately after the registeration for the user is
complete.

I know this would increase my response time but that is not an issue for
us.

I need to do a functional test where if 1000 users register than for all
these users accurate details get stored. the criteria is to ensure that if
concurrent registerations take place the data for users is accurate and
information does not get mixed up for the users if they access the site
concurrently under load.

Is there any other better approach of doing this with jmeter?

Thanks

Re: How to ensure the values i submitted with the request have saved in the required db table using jmeter?

2014-01-22 Thread NaveenKumar Namachivayam
After the execution is done, you can query the details from the database,
instead of adding JDBC step in your test plan.

I hope each payment will have an unique id. Before run your test note down
the latest ID and its timestamp. After the run again note down the values.
So that you can find the difference.

I feel this is better approach. Thanks!
