Thanks to Ashika for raising the questions. This is exactly how road map is
created by collecting community voices.

Another thing I'm interested in is make Kylin consume realtime data,
KYLIN-603. That's a big task. Looking for ideas and other contributions.

2016-10-04 Thread Luke Han
Hi Ashika,
That's great news about your POC, would you mind to share more detail
information for community if possible? I think it will help a lot of people
to adopt Kylin
For your question, please refer to below comments:
1) Will there be a MAC ODBC Driver available? (We use couple of BI
tools in different BUs including Tabalue,PowerBI,Excel,Domo..etc in
different platforms)
--No plan yet, since most of BI server are using Linux/Windows. We
have some discussion with some vendors for this topic. But if there are
many requirement for Mac version, I think we should invest something on
this.

2) Support MDX
--MDX already be supported via Mondrian plugin

   3) Snowflake Schema (I assume answer for this is No)
--Yes, will support snowflake in coming major release (just have some
discussion with Yang and others recently, Yang could offer more detail
information later)

   4) Presentation layer for BI tools. (For example when we connect to a
cube in Tableau, it looks as if its connected to table. There's no
grouping of Dimensions and Measure, grouping under folders...etc )
-- This is design purpose, we would like users treat Kylin as a read
only database not a pure Cube system

Please feel free to leave your comments.

   Thanks.
Luke

Question about future Kylin features and roapmap.

2016-10-03 Thread Ashika Umanga Umagiliya
Greetings ,

We managed to finish a PoC on using Kylin as enterprise level BI tool. Our
primary goal is to streamline the KPI management in the orgnisation.
However we come up with following limitation and want to know whether they
are in your roadmap

1) Will there be a MAC ODBC Driver available? (We use couple of BI tools in
different BUs including Tabalue,PowerBI,Excel,Domo..etc in different
platforms)
2) Support MDX
3) Star Schema (I assume answer for this is No)
4) Presentation layer for BI tools. (For example when we connect to a cube
in Tableau, it looks as if its connected to table. There's no grouping of
Dimensions and Measure, grouping under folders...etc )
