Re: How do I access openmeetings now it's running?

2016-12-05 Thread Robert Chalmers
Thank you for the quick reply.
Ok, I solved that first part, thanks.

however
I have the port 80 - http - redirected to 443 - https automatically.

So can I actually run Openmeetings via the https port?

I confess I”m a little confused here. Is it something to do with how
openmeetings starts up from red5.sh

I’m running on a Mac OSX Sirerra by the way, and Apache2, with MYSQL

Thanks
Robert

I can use Openmeetings by using localhost

http://localhost:5080/openmeetings/#user/dashboard

but how do I access it via the domain it lives on?

ie: https://libdemnewbies.uk:5080/openmeetings

It just says, Server not Found?

How do I set up mail?

2014-12-14 Thread Robert Chalmers
I know this should be simple - but frankly, it drives me nuts.

I have a mail server running here, but it’s difficult to get it to send email,
because spamhaus has this IP provider blocked . anything from this IP Block
(Sky) is just dumped by spamhaus.
So, I send via gmail - but gmail won’t allow mail, if it doesn’t know the
sender … dam.

So there is no easy way is there. I just have to set openmeetings as known by
my gmail account - and it will pass it? I think.

This is so frustrating.!!!

Build 3.0.4 worked for the dead user record problem. Success.

Thanks guys.
Ok, so gave up for the time being on trying to build from svn. I simply don’t
have the time to mess with it.

Stuffed in the 3.0.4 build, imported the database stuff, changed 31 to 15,
fired up highperf, and away it went again.
Check that dead user, removed the record, and presto bumpo it works ok.

cheers

Having trouble shutting down on OSX, and other things

2014-11-15 Thread Robert Chalmers
Hi, I’m using red5-highperf.sh to start up OM, and that part appears to work ok.
I only have one question related to startup, are the log files automatically
pruned?

Question 2.

The red5-shutdown script appears to not work on OSX, although OS X is very BSD
like in it’s structure, there are of course many differences.
Has anyone had any success in using OM with Mac, OSX (Yosemite version). Let me
rephrase that, it appears to be working fine from startup, but I can’t shut it
down gracefully.

It’s not in production setting yet of course, and you should be able to see it
at your-english-success.org.uk:5080:/openmeetings
Of course, if you can’t see it, I really am doing something wrong :-) Also, if
something isn’t working, let me know also thanks.

My projects related to this over the next little while.

Autostart at start up from LaunchDaemons/Launchctl,
and
an Apache-like ‘apachectl’ control script, maybe ‘omctl’
Graceful shutdown on system restart/shutdown

GUI control interface. That is. Start/Stop from a Desktop App, for use where
Autostart isn’t an option, and also to make stopping easier so a Terminal
doesn’t have to be opened. Avoiding command line action.

is there an auto-startup on Mac OS X

2014-11-12 Thread Robert Chalmers
I’m looking for something to auto start open meetings on a Mac. Specifically OS
X Yosemite (10.10.1)

There are a number of options out there for other systems, but I can’t find
anything that will do the correct loading on OS X.

I will try recreating for myself the apachectl processes, that is, using
similar mechanisms.
A plist file in the LaunchDaemons directory, and a start|stop|restart
controller like the apachectl that already exists. I just need to get the
variables that I find in red5.sh right in the plist file.

However, if someone has already done this? that will save me a lot of time.
thanks

Hello Alexi,
Nope. It won't convert TXT, DOC or DOCX files.

You can try it your self if you like,
http://your-english-success.com:5080/openmeetings/

which are all the file types I think students would need.

According to the logs - it starts the process, but never finishes.

Command line run of jodconverter within openmeetings.

2013-03-31 Thread Robert Chalmers
This command line run produces this result, as you can see - and that's
where it hangs. It just never completes. Same as within the Whiteboard
itself.
I've removed formatting from the output below, so hopefully on a large
screen it will read clearly. It is only a few lines in reality.
It appears to work - but in reality never completes.
It uploads the file to start with. It puts it in the correct directory.
but, never produces the pdf file in the other directrory.

Do I give up on it? Probably.

2013-03-30 Thread Robert Chalmers
Ok, got it.
svn of version 3
ant build with -Ddb=mysql
modify persistence.xml
put mysql jar into the correct directory
move the dist/red5 directory to C:\openmeetings
test by starting with red5.bat
import the previously saved data

rename the duplicate admin login created at startup so I can delete it later

exit
shutdown
Restart as a service
presto bumpo - it works.

Thanks guys. Good stuff. Now all I need do in future is
svn update
if new additions - rebuild and replace.

2013-03-22 Thread Robert Chalmers
Here we have the log from a clean restart.

The only file I have in that directory ...
F:\My
Websites\yes\openmeetings\webapps\openmeetings\upload\profiles\profile_1

is the uploaded file called RobertChalmers.jpg, 346x346 and 18k in size.

In this directory,
F:\My Websites\yes\openmeetings\webapps\openmeetings\default
there are a range of system images, place markers etc.

I found a major issue - well for me anyway. Solved one puzzle. SPACES in directory names are no no

2013-03-22 Thread Robert Chalmers
OK, this system is on XP.

I have come across this before. I just forgot.

Something in this package does NOT like spaces in the path name.

ie; F:\My Websites\yes\openmeetings

... and lots of stuff fails.

However.

C:\openmeetings

and guess what. Profile image loaded immediately.

now, Mail is working immediately.

I remember once before, I put it all in
C:\Program Files\

And it failed.

Something in this package - and I think it's Java ... does NOT like spaces
in directory names.

This is one reason I always put C:\PROGRA~1\ in system path names.

Now - everything seems to be working PERFECTLY. ta da

Re: Where does the inbox get it's mail from ????

2013-03-22 Thread Robert Chalmers
Yes, but where does it pick up the mail? I can't see any way of having this
pick up email.
I can only send email to an email address and that now works fine, after
moving the whole thing..

[Contacts and Messages] requires that I type in an email address. Can't see
a way of having this pick up anything in the [Inbox]

The new Open Office sets up in

Do I just put this into the Configuration setting, or do I add \program to

 Robert,

I see the following error in the log:
 org.apache.openjpa.persistence.PersistenceException: Cannot load JDBC

You need to use ant -Ddb=mysql command to build OpenMeetings if you use
 MySQL database.

Otherwise you need to download MySQL driver manually and put it into
 red5/webapps/openmeetings/WEB-INF/lib directory.

 Hope this helps!

 Best regards,

currently you trying to use old DB with new OM (and it is incompatible, DB

Re: How do I set up mail?

2013-03-20 Thread Robert Chalmers
Ok Guys,

I think I have it fixed. Maybe.

I decided to use my own mail server that I have running here, instead of
GMail.
I set it to Port 25, and put in the appropriate addresses and password, and
now I can send an email to my user account at qq.com - which is in China.
It went ok, and I picked it up fine.

I sent a message to myself here, rob...@your-english-success.com and it
went through.

So hopefully - when someone registeres, they will get an email.

Thanks for the help folks. It seems that the TLS bit trying to talk to
GMail doesn't want to work - so as I can use port 25 locally, and my own
mail server then sorts it out, will do. I'm using hmailserver, which does a
reasonable job.

thanks everyone. I hope it's fixed...
Robert

woohoo - successful build. Now ummm

2013-03-20 Thread Robert Chalmers
Well, successful build.

steps:

cd F:\
mkdir openmeetings
cd openmeetings
svn co http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openmeetings/tags/2.1RC2/ .
(note the dot at the end of the previous line)
... wipe the sweat from my brow, and type
ant

build ...
build ...
SUCCESFUL
Time: 13 minutes 49 seconds

There we are, in the dist directory - a new build.

Move it to a useful location,
Now, tomorrow - I run it :-)

to upgrade, update etc
simply go back to the build directory and type
svn up

Looks too easy :-) famous last words.

I noticed, that if I have duplicate email addresses in the database, then email
fails completely.

Re: Error Missing 204 556 642

2013-02-20 Thread Robert Chalmers
I'm pretty sure this is not related to the UTF-8 or character set, but to a
startup/configuration error. Perhaps in persistence.xml most likely.
Database connection ok?
There was a lot of traffic with the same errors back in 2011 and 2010.

 Hi,

after the installation, when it offers to enter the application, I get
 this error:

 Error Missing [204]
 Error Missing [556]
 Error Missing [642]

I know this has been reported and solved before, but I cannot get it to work.
My database is utf8, so that should not be the problem:

 mysql show variables like 'char%';
 +--++
 | Variable_name| Value |
 +--++
 | character_set_client | utf8 |
 | character_set_connection | utf8 |
 | character_set_database | utf8 |
 | character_set_filesystem | binary |
 | character_set_results| utf8 |
 | character_set_server | utf8 |
 | character_set_system | utf8 |
 | character_sets_dir | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ |
 +--++

Any ideas what causes this error message? I am desperate here, after many
 unsuccessful attempts of installing openmeetings.

 Cheers

 uwe

Re: Database Empty

2013-02-20 Thread Robert Chalmers
I think you should be attempting a much easier project written in your own
language Aysha. It is obvious now that you are not understanding a lot of the
fundamentals concerning the relationships between servers, databases, and
installation procedures.
You can not hope to pass an IT course by having people in a support forum help
you, especially if you don't understand the replies you are given.
I'm sorry, but I don't think you are ever going to understand what is being
said to you. Possibly even this message. So everyone, including you, is wasting
their time.

Have you set up mysql DB before or after you run the web installer?
have you added your mysql paramenter to persistence.xml?
