Chat sound notification

2018-11-12 Thread aaron.hepp
It seems currently that the chat sound notification (new message) is only
played if the chat panel is minimized (undocked position). Is there a way
to get the chat notification to play all the time? In our use chat is a
large portion so the room setting is: so it
never goes into the undocked position. But if the user has multiple windows
open and OM is hidden they do not know any new messages have been posted
until they look at OM again.

I see there is a mute and enable sound button but that still only works when
the chat panel is "undocked" (minimized), and not overall. It would be
helpful to get the button to be a general button on enable/disable sound no
matter the position of the chat window (docked versus undocked). Also the
default setting would be sound enabled over disabled that way users do not
have to show how to enable it as more find it useful then not.

OM5 possible enhancements

2018-11-01 Thread aaron.hepp
Since it is being worked on now just a few possible enhancements for the
next major release if they are achievable to further improve the product
over its current base.

In Administration: Allow selection of what gets used as the display name

Currently when the user enters the chat their display is
First name / Last Name. I think this would be better if configurable

Current: First Name / Last Name

Option 1: First Name / Last Initial

Option 2: Username

I my uses there is a need for anonymity where the username which is
non-descriptive should be used instead of the users real identity.

Interactive Whiteboard: Currently still "images"

When a Word or PDF file is uploaded that contains hyper-links it is just an
"image" of the document. It would be nice to make those documents that
contain hyperlinks, etc. to be able to interact with them.

Undock able Screen Share: (Not sure if possible)

Currently if you have a user using a small screen such as a laptop and they
open up screen sharing that new window covers up a large portion of the
whiteboard (depending on the whiteboard being displayed) as well as the
cameras. It would be nice (if possible) to make the new window undockable
so it can be moved anywhere on the screen. Right now if you want to place
it over the top portion of the chat or the user list it goes behind the chat
object. Possible to bring that one to the front or be able to move it
outside of the workspace all together. While a user could minimize the
user/chat panels, they may could miss something.

Just some thoughts on some things, as I am sure there are more as this is
just based on my current usage of the product, as I am sure there are other
usage cases that have different needs.

I'm really not sure, but the first question after entering the room is : allow
flash?

So I need to enable flash for using audio and video. Is this correct?

RE: Imports with different databases

2018-09-21 Thread aaron.hepp
Just checked with my production system using MySQL and a new install and the
purged data was imported. So it was not due to different database types.
It imports purged data.

I just stood up a new "official Release" server to do some testing. But
since I am doing this on a local Windows box I just used the built in Derby
database. Well I have back-up from my production box which uses MySQL.
Upon importing from my running server I notice that it imported the "purged"
data as well. Was this just due to the different databases, or is this a
bug?

Reason for the testing is the move to my new CSM frontend but decided that
using invitation links is not the best choice being you can delete and purge
the user but if the invitation was endless it stays functioning. So I
decided to try creating the links via REST but now having issues trying to
create the room hash(s) from the previous email thread Dhanashree posted. I
can obtain the sid but I am not able to create a hash. I would say it is me
having he issue as not very proficient in this area so if anyone if more
versed in that area and would want to lend some information it would be
helpful.

user passwords in database

2018-09-21 Thread aaron.hepp
Since running OM I have had users register directly to OM and that was their
frontend to login. I have now implemented a new front end CSM that requires
a login process; each user will use a created invitation link to access the
rooms inside OM (no more direct login to OM for users). My question is.
Since all the user names and passwords are currently stored the local MYSQL
database is there a way to export and un-hash the passwords so I can
re-create the accounts in the CSM front end? I was going to just create the
accounts and just have each user change their password, but was going to try
making this as seamless as possible.

Since I will now be using invitation links; we talked about it before (JIRA
- 1846) on needing a way to invalidate and endless invitation. Currently
only way to remove an invitation is to manually go into the db and delete
the entry. Is this something we can look at implementing in OM5. Currently
I do not see the need that great for taking time to develop for the current
version, but maybe something that would be useful when moving forward.

WB user switching

2018-08-15 Thread aaron.hepp
Not sure if it is possible but is there a way to allow users to switch WBs
themselves without giving them permission to change the WB. With multiple
WBs open in a room, the users are only allowed to view the WB being
manipulated by the person in control. Was wondering if there was a way to
give the ability of users to move their view to a different WB if they need
to review something that was upload to another WB.

RE: Conference Room creation update error

2018-08-08 Thread aaron.hepp
I just did the latest snapshot and the import worked as expected using the UI.
I would say I had a corrupted back-up was the reason for the failure of placing
profiles in the right area.

I can confirm the whiteboard issue is resolved when creating a new WB an image
will be uploaded. But now I see a new "clean up" item that may need to be
addressed when ever time allows as this is not really a big issue.

When you delete files and drag them up to the garbage, they files get deleted,
but it looks like it leaves remnants of their file name and image icon stuck
between the folder icons and where My files start (See attached)

Once you exit and come back in, that is gone, so not really an issue. Just
some housekeeping for later on.

RE: Conference Room creation update error

2018-08-06 Thread aaron.hepp
Ok looks like the error can be reproduced with the demo as well.

When the room is 1st entered on a fresh reboot the white board is present and
you can upload a file to that.

But if you close the original WB and then open a new WB you cannot upload a
file to the WB. It remains blank.

I have attached the debug log but it does not tell much (to myself that is)

RE: Conference Room creation update error

2018-08-06 Thread aaron.hepp
Ok. If they are skipped on import then no need to delete the dB object. I
just noticed when the backup was ran they were still listed, was the only
reason for the delete.

If you/someone has the latest snapshot running (revision 3f2c95f) can they test
something for me. I am currently running live with the startup script so I
cannot get the debug information until after the day is over. But looks like I
cannot upload a file to the WB. May be localized, but was wondering if one had
the revision up and going if they could test. This is the same VM that has
been ran previous version so all needed pacakges should already be installed.

Demo looks like its still running some revisions back so couldn't test there.

According to your question: deleted/purged users are included into XML backup
files, but are being skipped during import

I would not recommend to run queries like 'delete from om_user where id = #'
since data integrity will be broken Here is the brief list of what need to done

Yes looks like the room crashing has been resolved. Thank you for the prompt

The profile image I am referring to is the default profile image that is

Looks like the default image format was changed from .jpg to .png and in my
customization script I was importing profile.jpg so I changed the script to
.png and this resolved that issue. Didn't notice the file extension had
changed.

The last issue I am seeing is the import from the previous backup. It is
importing all the users data for the database account name / password / contact
info / .etc, but it is not importing the users profile image they had uploaded.
 The import was placed at

/webapps/Openmeetings/upload/import/import_2018_08_04_05_59_04/roomFiles/profiles/

so when a returning user logs in their profile is created:

/webapps/Openmeetings/upload/profiles/

But just now looking as I uploaded a new profile picture for myself as a test I
see the reason. It looks like it stems from the file format change. The
backup has everything as profile.jpg where it is looking for a .png file.

Just a heads up for anyone taking an older backup from a previous version, you
will have to manually copy each users profile.jpg file from the import folder
to each users profile space as a .png file

For me this was an example:

cp
/opt/current/webapps/trade-group/upload/import/import_2018_08_04_05_59_04/roomFiles/profiles/profile_2/profile.jpg
 /opt/current/webapps/trade-group/upload/profiles/profile_2/profile.png

this must be done for each user or tell each user that they just have to
re-upload their image if they want one.

Conference Room creation update error

2018-08-03 Thread aaron.hepp
Looks like an old error is back. I just installed the latest nightly build
and now get thrown to the internal error page if you try to update and
existing conference room or when you type the first letter for a new room
name. Looks like the old error where even if the user was granted admin
access Group Admin Access is denied (see attached log)

Version4.0.5-SNAPSHOT

Revisionb154bef

Build date2018-08-03T10:13:48Z

Also looks like when doing the import there is a problem. When you are 1st
setting up your new install of OM you create an admin account; so in the
database that is "Profile 1". Where the problem lies is when you do an
export from your old system it also exports the old "admin" account (which
on the old system was also profile_1) but when you do the import since there
is already a profile_1 it moves everything down 1 so the old admin account
become id 2 on down the line. My account when exported was profile_2 but
now my account is now labeled as profile_3 so the image is not there but the
old admin account has my profile.jpg. (also in attachment)

If you just install from the Ubuntu repository then you do not need to do the
compile section in the instructions. Everything is already compiled in the
installable package.

Hello Alvaro and Aaron.hepp, thanks for your answers. It is possible then that
it could be because I am behind a proxy or because some URLs are blocked for
Cuba. For example, this instruction in the script can not be executed either
hg clone https://bitbucket.org/multicoreware/x265

Is there any other variant to get x265?

Greetings and many thanks

I have never had a problem just running the built ffmpeg out of the repository.
The output below is from a clean server just to show which packages will be
installed.

aahepp@ubuntu-server:~$ sudo apt-get install ffmpeg

Building dependency tree

Reading state information... Done

The following additional packages will be installed:

  libavdevice57 libsdl2-2.0-0

Suggested packages:

  ffmpeg-doc

The following NEW packages will be installed:

  ffmpeg libavdevice57 libsdl2-2.0-0

0 upgraded, 3 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Hi, I am trying to install OpenMeetings 4.04 in Ubuntu 16.04, but

I have a problem with the script ffmpeg-ubuntu-debian.sh

In the lines:

PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH" ./configure --prefix="$HOME/ffmpeg_build"
--bindir="$HOME/bin" --enable-static --disable-opencl && PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"
make && sudo make install && make distclean; cd ..

The output is:

Found no assembler
Minimum version is nasm-2.13
If you really want to compile without asm, configure with --disable-asm.

what should I do? add --disable-asm option or is something that I lack for the
complication ?

RE: Re[2]: AOM 4.0.4 Delete user - Purged

2018-06-26 Thread aaron.hepp
If you want to purge from the listing you have to go in an manually delete the
entry from the DB itself. Careful using this as you can render your system
non-useable if you delete the wrong objects:

For MySQL use the following commands:

mysql -u -p (if using installation guide user = hola
password = 1a2B3c4D)

use ; (if using recent installation guide
they it was called open404)

delete from om_user where id = 2; (this will delete the user whose ID is 2
in your case that is the one marked as purged)

For some simple commands to navigate the database:

show tables; (this will gives you a list of the tables in the database)

show columns from ; (this gives you a list of fields in the
table you requested)

Hello Maciej,

Form the beginning of time OM was not deleting various DB objects but mark them
"deleted" and hide

Since May 2018 we can't just mark users as deleted, we also need a way to
ensure all sensitive personal data is purged

This is why we now have 2 buttons

1 delete: it marks user as deleted

2 purge: it marks user as deleted AND replaces all sensitive data with some
random text

RE: Send on Enter default action

JIRA created.

Reasoning was that the chat was used for short communications (1-2 sentence
versus paragraph responses) so it would be more useful to have the default
mapping set to ENTER over the CTRL+ENTER. I could be mistaken and other users
have a use more so for paragraphs then 1 to 2 sentence responses.

2018-05-25 Thread aaron.hepp
Oh I knew that was there. But is there a way to set the default to be the
"send on enter" without them needing to click on the button.

The hurdle is new users that come into the rooms do not know about the button,
so it requires an admin to explain.

As users are coming in and hitting enter to send their messages, but they are
just seeing carriage returns. I was wondering is there a way to change the
default for the entire install (locally) to be "send on enter" instead of the
users needing to select the option.

Send on Enter default action

2018-05-25 Thread aaron.hepp
While I know there is a button to convert to "Send on Enter" is there a way
to change that for default? While some would prefer to CTRL+Enter to send,
the ones that use the chat for 1 line responses and no needs for paragraphs,
it makes it difficult to walk new users to know where to click.

Currently get new users each day, they type hello and they do not know about
needing to click on the arrow to send the message (as it is almost hidden on
the browser even in full screen: see attached) so they will keep hitting the
enter key. Finally after seeing them "typing" with no response admins have
to tell them about clicking on the 5 lines above where you type and click
the 1st button.

Is there a way for each install to choose the setting they would like?
CRTL+ENTER versus ENTER?

Hello Aaron,

What version are you using?

Just have checked using latest 4.0.4-SNAPSHOT - it creates links with
target="_blank" attribute set

So everything should work as expected

According to links in documents: right now documents are being created as
background images for WB

This allows to draw/type on WB as well as perform "Clean slide" action

Creating editable WB documents will require much more efforts

Maybe in some future versions

On the same lines. When uploading a file word document or power point, can it
be easily made to make the document "interactive" As someone posts a word
documents with Useful Links, but the links themselves are not "clickable" in
the document and the individuals have to type them in to another browser
window. Wasn't sure if it was just the way the documents are being sent to the
white board that are not interactive for myself.

Hello Aaron,

could you please file the JIRA?
should be easy to fix

According "throw a message" instead of "Internal error": "Internal error" is
being displayed in case error is
1) unexpected
2) serious
Error dialog is being displayed where appropriate (at least I believe so)
