Re: [DISCUSSION] Additional room menu

2020-10-03 Thread Daniel Ascher
I think it's a great idea to have the options suggested for arranging the
video pods. The addition of the "sidebar mode" would be a very useful
feature, allowing flexibility regarding the size of the whiteboard and not
having to worry about the video pods being over it. I'm a little bit
confused about whether this thread relates to these issues or some other
aspect of the menus.

Thanks. Dan

Re: [DISCUSSION] Additional room menu

2020-10-03 Thread Maxim Solodovnik
Hello All,

I would like to add top level menu
Current Actions menu contains 9 items for regular users and 5 for moderator
I believe new items should go to new top level menu

We will discuss video pods improvement in other mail thread
I would like to do it later, after 5.1.0 release :))

Happy to drop the upload menu yes.

Is it going to be a main menu item or just 1 entry in a sub menu ?

These look good, would go along way to make the UI easy for users.
In these scenarios is the shared screen just another video pod or
treated separately along with the whiteboard?

ok makes sense

OPENMEETINGS-2414
 looks
quite good I think. Seems like to solve a lot of the options people wish
for.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Additional room menu

2020-09-23 Thread Maxim Solodovnik
As you can see from thread title this discussion is not about icons or
layout of video pods :
It is about room menu :)

The best proposal regarding video pods IMO is this one:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENMEETINGS-2414
I can't say I like everything about it

But it is good enough
The only HUGE issue I can see right now: it seems I should implement it
:(

We may not be able to implement all of those video arrangements.
But I like the idea around using those layout buttons that have a
 visual
representation of what the layout will look like.

Who says icons make UI messy ?

The wrong icons make the UI messy.

My argument is that the layout of video pods is the wrong thing we keep on
discussing for 7+ years. So having an icon for it will be worth it.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Additional room menu

2020-09-23 Thread seba.wag...@gmail.com
I quite like the button proposal that has been put as attachment
in OPENMEETINGS-2397

https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/13005989/image-2020-06-18-20-58-03-668.png

We may not be able to implement all of those video arrangements. But I like
the idea around using those layout buttons that have a visual
representation of what the layout will look like.

Thanks

Hello Ed,

yes I believe 5th top level menu item should be created
unfortunately the best name for it is "Actions" :)))
2 Actions menu would be too much :))

Re: [DISCUSSION] Additional room menu

2020-09-23 Thread info

 Hello,

If I understand the request correctly, you want a name for the 5th top
level menu item once a user has chosen a room and is inside that room.
If my understanding is correct, I would suggest:

"Settings"

or "Room Settings"

"Display" or "Room Display" might also work.

Best,

Ed

Quoting Maxim Solodovnik :

Hello All,

We have some requests like this one:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENMEETINGS-2397

to add more actions to the room
I believe the Room->Actions menu is huge enough
Can someone suggest the name for another top level menu in the room?
