2020-04-10 Thread K. Kamhamea
Thank you for this valuable feedback. I will carefully incorporate the
suggested enhancements. Though the next edition will be due not before the
end of the next, I would be eager to receive some more.
Best K.

Re: User Manual for OpenMeetings 503

2020-04-08 Thread Maxim Solodovnik
I finally get to this thread

First of thanks for your work!

This is very long document and my time is very limited, so I'll comment
here baby-steps :))

Will start with "List of Todos"

1) "Here is a legal issue."
The link to the "privacy statement" is on registration form and in user
profile
So both registered and non-registered users can review it
I can contact Alache legal if you believe this is the issue

2) "It is usual to provide two input boxes for password and email to reduce
typos.", "sername becomes superfluous.", I personally hate this new trend,
I believe register form can be as small as possible
And most users copy their email

3) "If email confirmation is turned on and the email is not confirmed
within a certain space of time the account should be purged to allowthe
user to re enter its personal information because here again a clash
results if the user doesn’t receive the email for confirmation andtries to
re enter the username that will cause an error."
In case confirmation email is not coming - "One should contact
administrator" (I guess)
this is how it works right now

4) "Why the green Jitter field remains empty "
this one is fixed, please check demo-next :)

5) "When logging in after the user language has been changed the "My room"
widget still appears in the former language. Only after re-moving this
widget from the dashboard and reinstalling it the language is actually
changed. Although still the room names are mixedlanguage"
Dashboard widgets are being persisted to FS so current behavior is
expected, this can be improved, but hasn't been requested yet (so I
consider this not a big deal :)))
Personal rooms are being created on first login
So this is by design :)

6) "Actually this link goes not exactly to the profile page but to the edit
profile page which may not be the primary intention."
Both "Profile" and "Edit profile" are on nearby tabs, so I always thought
it is OK to have it like that, can be improved

7) "s there an automatic logout after a period of inactivity"
logout will happen automatically if you will close browser tab, otherwise
it will not

8) "It would be easier for unexperienced users to just drop a line or send
a message to developers. If unexperienced with thistechnique this website
demands a lot of time to familiarize with the procedure."
In case user will just drop the message (at any installation in the world,
with possible VERY restricted FW how he/she can get an answer?
Right now this is customizable and site admin can set it to anything

I propose to have this list in some "commentable" form - so I can answer

Re: User Manual for OpenMeetings 503

2020-04-06 Thread mailinglist
The plethora of PDF instructions is confusing. We have Confluence. Why not
setting up a Wiki and collaboratively write a

- user documentation
- installation instruction

which cover all eventualities (which is possible in a wiki format) I'm more
than willing to contribute to that.

Thanks

Thanks a lot!
will try to review and leave my comments here :)

BTW maybe it worth to have User Guide in some editable format somewhere?

Thank you for this overwhelming response. I think it is a great time to
advance a software like OM right now, so lets use the tailwind. I will
proceed with my manual today, but maybe get some feedback for improvement
in the meantime.

Technically I registered with Confluence, but there is no way to upload
yet, so please grant me the right.

Best regards K.
