Sudipta, with all due respect... "don't respond to me if you don't like what I say" is not the same as not being a jerk about it. One earns social capital, by being respectful and by respecting the social norms during interaction; by everything I've seen, you've been demanding and disrespectful (although some of it's been in private, so I don't know what those interactions have looked like, nor do I care.)
Bottom line, you could do a lot to mitigate negative responses in what has been a supportive environment, by all appearances. That's on you, not the community.
