Spark devs & users, I want to bring attention to a proposal to merge the MLlib (spark.ml) concepts of Estimator and Model in Spark 2.0. Please comment & discuss on SPARK-14033 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-14033> (not in this email thread).
*TL;DR:* *Proposal*: Merge Estimator and Model under a single abstraction (Estimator). *Goals*: Simplify API by combining the tightly coupled concepts of Estimator & Model.
