You can use the saveAsNewAPIHadoop
http://spark.apache.org/docs/1.1.0/api/python/pyspark.rdd.RDD-class.html#saveAsNewAPIHadoopFile
file. You can use it for compressing your output, here's a sample code

to use the API.
