Re: [User-list] Realsoft 3D version 8 released

2018-12-14 Thread Jean-Sebastien Perron
You are absolutely right, (ME) I would be ready to pay 200$ per year to
finance some more Realsoft development and improvements.
To be able to survive in this competitive world, 3D software needs a new
economic model : recurring, constants small payments.

Can you imagine micro-transactions for using a nurbs to polygon tools only
once? lol

The first things that RS needs is a little UI refresh : it should go full
openGL (or realtime 3D) for the whole 2D interface part, no more shitty 2D
native win32 buttons, check boxes, sliders... All the UI should be rendered
on the GPU, and dynamically scalable.

And Realsoft needs a lot more tutorials in 4K on youtube or somewhere else.
I will try to do that this weekend.

I would tend to disagree with you ... Have you looked at BLENDER 2.8?

https://www.blender.org/2-8/

Great to see REALSOFT pop up again after all these years. Yes, it would be
nice to see its UI totally over hauled and stuff like animation features
really updated more.

As was mentioned, much software has now gone the MONTHLY SUB route, which I
am a big fan of. It gives the developers a far better finance model of
regular monthly cashflow, keeps them in business.

SO Realsoft .. why not consider this? Use the new release of RS 8 to
kickstart a whole new development direction along the monthly sub model at
a reasonable price rather than this one off $100 upgrade etc? I am sure
there is a base out there still that would come alive once more .. once the
monthly sub is reasonable and that dev is happening again on a more regular
basis BECAUSE funds are more regular?

My two cents
Aidan

Re: [User-list] Realsoft 3D version 8 released

2018-12-14 Thread Jean-Sebastien Perron
I got Shade since version 4 - 5 - 7 and I would not want to ever return to
it.
The english version is always 2 versions behind. Maybe it has changed, but
the software is too stiff for comfort.
Blender UI is still a huge problem, it's better but far behind.
Why not Houdini Side FX, the coplete version is 300$ per year and this is
the best 3D software ever.
The only problem is that it takes a lot of steps for things really simple.
Building a city is simple, building a house is difficult.

Realsoft with a little bit of UI visual change, could be back in the game.
It is simple features that everyone needs at the touch of a button like
stereo 360 VR cameras.
And the new realsoft pricing is a game changer. Realsoft is still the best
modeler Nurbs+SDS.

Re: [User-list] Realsoft 3D version 8 released

2018-12-13 Thread achillepr
I think that the programmers have to work mainly on the program interface as,
for me, is a little old and not so efficient. I think to blender 2.8 or Shade3d
as a model of good and functional interfaces. (speaking of prices: Shade 3d has
gone to subscription and before you need more than 500$ to buy!)

Bye.

Hi Vesa,

This is great news. After so long I had assumed that support for Realsoft had
ended.

Do you plan to continue development beyond V8?

Thanks,

Can't await to give it a try once more.
Does it give someone here on the list under 40 years old? ;-)

Are there intentions to provide a course/workshop for it?

Kind regards.

I just paid 400$ for an update for that piece of shit Strata 3D 8.?
And it does not even display correctly on my 4k monitor.

150$cdn is a gift to me. Also I just learned that my favorite software of
all time.
That I use since 1989 is back and not dead.

I have not used Realsoft in a while because I was on Mac and Linux for the
past 10 years. Now I am back on Windows because of VR. Tonight it's party
time.

The first function that I would like to have in Realsoft is VR 360
stereoscopic rendering.
I am sure there is a way to do it manually, but i would like a VR camera
object.
