cs 4.2 systemvm

2013-09-10 Thread Valery Ciareszka
Hi all.

I'm trying to test CS 4.2 and it seems that old
systemvm(acton-systemvm-02062012.qcow2.bz2) does not work with it.
After debugging I found that consoleproxy/ssvm does not get its NICs
configured.
It seems that method of passing network configuration parameters from HV to
system vms has changed -
now /usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/vm/hypervisor/kvm/patchviasocket.plis
used to send configuration to the system vm -
/etc/init.d/cloud-early-config tries to read it from /dev/vport0p1.
However, there is no such device in system VMs.

So, should I use new systemvm image? Where can I get it ?

Thank you Rafael.
Now we have an additional VHD image available.
Because i'm already using Carloses solution which works nicely (even has
cloud init scripts), i'm not going to test yours.
I would suggest you gzip it before sharing next time. It will be much
smaller.

I'm also thinking about setting up public free repository for templates,
now that i have a few.

Will open a new mail thread on developers forum for that.

So, I did it,

I do not actually know if I can do this, but I would like to share it with
you. The Template has already the password script that CS need to change a
user password trough the interface (I configured the root user).

Ubuntu 12.04.03 LTS 64 bits, you just need to download it and add to the CS
as a template, do not forget to select the Other PV 64 bits on the OS type
selection box and enable the password reset function, so when you create a
VM it will create a password to the root user.

You will need to include the xe-guest-utilities_6.0.2-766_**amd64.deb in
the directory from the XenServer tools install iso. I could not find a
place to download it from.

You should run the createUbuntuCSimageXen.sh script on an ubuntu 12.04

Once it creates the ubuntu-12.04.3-server-**cloudimg-amd64.fs file you

Let me know how it goes.

If you are using sourceNAT, you can use the createPortForwardingRule api
 call.

trubleshooting os boot issues

2013-09-10 Thread Dean Kamali
Hello everyone

Just wondering if it is possible to attach ISO boot CD and start the VM in
recovery mode.

I have noticed that if you deploy a VM rom a template then attach an ISO
then restarting the VM it won't boot from ISO.

However for VM deployed from ISO, it will honer the selection and it will
let me use the ISO disk.

can anyone verify ??

Thanks

Re: [VOTE][RESULTS] Release Apache CloudStack 4.2.0 (fourth round)

2013-09-10 Thread Ron Wheeler
I am very disappointed that 4.2 will be released without fixing
longstanding documentation problems.
There is no point is asking us to file JIRA issues if the developers are
not going to fix them.

The first impression for CloudStack is made in the installation docs. It
is makes the whole project look amateurish when the installation does
not work.

The beauty of open source projects is that if you are not good at
development you can still help the project by contributing to the

I am not too happy with the documentation side too and will put in time in next
2-3 days to clear up whatever I can on documentation before the formal
annoucement. This is a community effort and every help is appreciated.
