Every released version is "stable" per definition. However every new
major release has new code, which may have issues uncovered in testing
(like in any other software too).

We are also trying to find the best way to update and keeping cloud stable.

If we would update right now, we usually use the latest minor release
version right before the latest major version which results in 4.6.2.

Our math is: this version is currently the most stable one because it
contains less features (less code) than 4.7 but the same fixes as in 4.7.

But this my definition. You must find yours yourself :)

René

Problem with storage live migration

2015-12-18 Thread S . Brüseke - proIO GmbH
Hi,

we ran into a problem with storage live migration in CLoudstack and need your
help to verify this.
We are using XenServer with local storage.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create an instance from an ISO (not template!) on local storage
2. while instance is running migrate it to another XenServer via UI
3. please check if instance was migrated successfully

Problem:
The instance and volume are migrated to the other XenServer but then the
instance is shutdown immediately and UI is giving an error message. After some
minutes CS is changing the status of the instance from "Running" to "Stopped"
and if you try to start it, it will fail.
You can see that the volume is on the new XenServer local storage, but CS did
not changed pool_id and path in volumes db table. It looks to me like a broken
workflow. If you created an instance out of a template everything works fine!

We are using CS 4.3.2 Can someone please test this in a newer release?
Thanks for helping us out!

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / With kind regards,

Swen Brüseke
