Re: usageid missing

2015-06-23 Thread Praveen B
Hi Ingo,

We haven't seen this type of issue anytime before. Need to analyze more on
the issue.

Can you upload output of usage records somewhere and provide me the URL
link to access it?

There could be multiple volumes in CloudStack
1) Root volumes 2) Data Volumes 3) Volumes created from Snapshots 4)
Uploaded volumes...etc.

You need to find out if there is any specific pattern for the missing usage
id volumes. That will help us to understand the issue behaviour.

 Why are there so many usageid's missing?

 We're running 4.4.

Hi Patrick,

It seems the guest VLANs are not enabled on all inetrmittent switches
between these clusters. Please check them on your physical switches.

Guest VLANs are common across entire zone and they must be enabled in all
the switches which are part of that zone to allow guest VM communication.

 Is there some kind of limitations from the Xen Pool, blocking private

Re: XenServer upgrade in CloudStack environment

2015-06-12 Thread Praveen B
Hi Martins,

Have you unmanaged your xen cluster from cloudstack UI before xen upgrade?
This is a mandatory step that disconnects all xen servers in the cluster
from while upgrade is going on.

You can go through
http://www.shapeblue.com/how-to-upgrade-an-apache-cloudstack-citrix-xenserver-cluster/
KB article that explains xen cluster upgrade in cloudstack.

 What is correct way to do upgrade no XenServer hosts in CloudStack

 I use ACS 4.3.2 with XenServer 6.2.

Re: problem creating instance from template

2015-04-07 Thread Praveen B
Hi Sonali,

(*I may not be really asking something that you might already have tried
out earlier during the troubleshooting of the issue).

From the log snippets, it seems a missing VHD file(s) in your primary
storage causing SR scan to get BACKEND_ERROR.
You need to find that missing VHD file and delete the corresponding VDI
file using xe command.

Run xe sr-scan uuid= manually in xen server for your primary storage
to make out a way to find missing VHD file.

Let me know how this works.

Re: Advanced Network Changing Public IP Range

2015-04-04 Thread Praveen B
Hi Sam,

Please find my inline comments below:

I can add a new ip range,disable zone,destroy system vms and I think this
step is fair. But my concern was deployed vms and not being able to remove
user ips.
[PB] What do you mean by user IPs here? Are they acquired public IPs?, they
can be released from UI without any problem. But still SNAT IPs(public IP
of router VM) need to be deleted in-order to delete existing IP range.

So just changing the status of user ip to removed on mysql table and
adding new range for this user would be enough?
[PB] I am sure on this. But it worked for me sometime back when I had
similar situation. Theoretically, It should work but you may encounter
mysql foreign constraint issues sometimes as SQL tweaking in one table may
impact other tables with ip address data field as a foreign key.

So if i shut down all user vms and network router, add new ip range for
this user, restart router and it should assign the new IP address? or if
ips are marked as removed will it give me an option to destroy network
router so newly created router will have new range?
[PB] Try to see if you can remove SNAT IP of router VM after stopping and
destroying it from UI. If this works, no need to update DB entries. New
range IPs will be taken by router VMs when a new VM is deployed in the
account OR an existing VM is stopped and started again.

Thanks,
Praveen

Any production instances using mysql HA feature

2015-02-20 Thread Praveen B
Hi All,

Can someone tell me if you are running any production instances those use
mysql HA feature in CloudStack?

Would like to hear operational complexity issues encountered with unplanned
mysql failover and failback cases in production.

Thanks,

Re: how to configure multi-homed management server?

2015-02-14 Thread Praveen B
Hi Yiping,

The host IP in global settings is set during first time start of
cloudstack-management service which starts soon after
cloudstack-setup-management script.

CloudStack picks the default NIC as host entry in global settings. Hence,
it doesnt pick the IP that you give along with cloudstack-setupp-databases
script.

In managemnet-server log, you'll notice ConfigurationServer saved
xx.xx.xx.xx as host entry that gets added with host ip addition.

Following source snippets form code may help you understand how it assigns
host ip better:
==
1) cloudstack/server/src/com/cloud/server/ConfigurationServerImpl.java

public void persistDefaultValues() throws InternalErrorException {
.
.
 String hostIpAdr = NetUtils.getDefaultHostIp();
boolean needUpdateHostIp = true;
if (hostIpAdr != null) {
Boolean devel = Boolean.valueOf(_configDao.getValue(developer));
if (devel) {
String value =
_configDao.getValue(ApiServiceConfiguration.ManagementHostIPAdr.key());
if (value != null  !value.equals(localhost)) {
needUpdateHostIp = false;
}
}
if (needUpdateHostIp) {
_configDepot.createOrUpdateConfigObject(ApiServiceConfiguration.class.getSimpleName(),
ApiServiceConfiguration.ManagementHostIPAdr, hostIpAdr);
s_logger.debug(ConfigurationServer saved \ + hostIpAdr + \ as host.);
}
}

2) cloudstack/utils/src/com/cloud/utils/net/NetUtils.java
.
.
public static String getDefaultHostIp() {
if (SystemUtils.IS_OS_WINDOWS) {
Pattern pattern =
Pattern.compile(\\s*0.0.0.0\\s*0.0.0.0\\s*(\\S*)\\s*(\\S*)\\s*);
try {
Process result = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(route print -4);
BufferedReader output = new BufferedReader(new
InputStreamReader(result.getInputStream()));
String line = output.readLine();
while (line != null) {
Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(line);
if (matcher.find()) {
return matcher.group(2);
}
line = output.readLine();
}
} catch (IOException e) {
s_logger.debug(Caught IOException, e);
}

I hope this explanation helps your understanding.

Thanks,
Praveen

 Update:

 Now my mgr¹s eth0 is configured with IP address on the lab network, the
 hostname is set to the name of lab network IP. However, after I run
 cloudstack-setup-databases and cloudstack-setup-management scripts, I
 still find the wrong IP address in global setting param hosts, and wrong
 value for param ³management.network.cidr².

 It looks like that running cloudstack-setup-management script (with
 immediate start of cloudstack-management service) populates DB tables. So
 my question comes down to how does cloudstack-management service
 determine these configuration values ?

Re: how to configure multi-homed management server?

Are you using custom SSL certificates and domain for your system VMs? Have
you deployed HTTPS on your management server?
Which version of CloudStack is this?

I believe you can ignore heartbeat related errors. Only thing you need to
maintain is time sync between the mgmt nodes.
Also, I am not sure about mshost parameter of deploy-databases script. you
can try giving other ip..see that works..

Praveen

 Hi, Praveen:

 That worked, sort of. Now both CPVM and SSVM are trying to connect to the
 correct IP address on my management server, but the connect failed due to
 some sort of SSL error, even though I have not used SSL for this CS
 instance at all.

 Following error is logged in /var/log/cloud.log file repeatedly:

 2015-02-12 04:50:58,053 INFO  [utils.nio.NioClient] (Agent-Selector:null)

 Regarding ³host² global setting, if this variable determines which IP
 address on mgr to use, then I wonder do I still need to use ³‹mshost ip²
 option when running cloudstack-setup-databases script ? I am seeing some
 errors in catalina.out about cluster heartbeat failures which I have not
 seen before.
