Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer (yet). Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Which RC version?
Hi :) You can always post it as a bug-report. There is no harm in that. People don't need permission from the Users List in order to post bug-reports. Just post it. I think the guide suggests asking the Users List or other places first just in case there is something we can do to help fix a problem. As a user you might find something that appears horrendous but is actually quite trivial to fix. I think you are possibly taking your first steps into being a dev. It is good to have ideas and argue them out because it often leads to either innovation or a deeper understanding of why things are the way they are. Either way it's a win. Sadly most of us on this list have no idea about what issues have led devs to do things the way they do. Also if you just suddenly pop-up on the devs list and demand they change all their working practices they wont take it too kindly and may even become hostile. A bug-report might be a way of quietly introducing the idea to them. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: which of my American, British, and Canadian English dictionaries are now online
Sorry, I cannot take credit for the word lists. They are open-source and come from a Linux repository source for a different type of system dictionary. There were list for American English, British English [not Oxford], Canadian English, French, Spanish, and Italian. I just converted these lists to something that LO could use. To be honest, if you know what to do, you can create your own specialty dictionaries. You just take one from the correct language as a model and make yours using that model. It also helps that have open-source components to work from. My issue was I could not find any easy documentation to help me do the work. I found a few hints, but that was all. So I had to do some trial and error for the non-word-list items. I wanted to be able to have a person install all my dictionary files then use the enable/disable options to choose which dictionary you wish to use at any given time. My next job will be to see how I can add to the thesaurus data for some of the words that are not included. The thesaurus I currently use deals with American, British, and Canadian English words and phrases, about 145,800 of them. There are a lot of phrases and abbreviations in the thesaurus. I want to see what can be done to make it include others that might be needed or wanted by our LibreOffice users. Below are some of the word listings in the thesaurus I am using. This is an indexed list so changing the number of lines for a word in this list will reflect/change the indexed line number of the index file. I will have to create/use a database style of software to alter the thesaurus system. For the 1st baron verulam it starts on line #10337 of the thesaurus data file, while ocher starts on line #11507218. If I add lines to any word[s] between these two, all of the indexes will be mess up from the first addition on. As for ocher, it also shows ochre as a different spelling for it. 1st baron verulam|1 (noun)|Bacon|Francis Bacon|Sir Francis Bacon|Baron Verulam|1st Baron Verulam|Viscount St. Albans|statesman (generic term)|solon (generic term)|national leader (generic term)|philosopher (generic term) aarp|1 (noun)|Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons|AARP|association (generic term) aas|1 (noun)|Associate in Applied Science|AAS|associate degree (generic term)|associate (generic term) ocher|3 (adj)|ochre|chromatic (similar term) (noun)|ochre|orange yellow (generic term)|saffron (generic term) (noun)|ochre|earth color (generic term) repeat|7 (noun)|repetition|periodic event (generic term)|recurrent event (generic term) (verb)|reiterate|ingeminate|iterate|restate|retell|tell (generic term) (verb)|duplicate|reduplicate|double|replicate|reproduce (generic term) (verb)|recur|happen (generic term)|hap (generic term)|go on (generic term)|pass off (generic term)|occur (generic term)|pass (generic term)|fall out (generic term)|come about (generic term)|take place (generic term) (verb)|echo|utter (generic term)|emit (generic term)|let out (generic term)|let loose (generic term) (verb)|take over|act (generic term)|move (generic term) (verb)|reprise|reprize|recapitulate|play (generic term)|spiel (generic term) smut|9 (noun)|carbon black|lampblack|soot|crock|carbon (generic term)|C (generic term)|atomic number 6 (generic term) (noun)|plant disease (generic term) (noun)|smut fungus|fungus (generic term) (noun)|obscenity|vulgarism|filth|dirty word|profanity (generic term) (noun)|pornography|porno|porn|erotica|creation (generic term)|creative activity (generic term) (verb)|change (generic term)|alter (generic term)|modify (generic term) (verb)|stain (generic term) (verb)|mold (generic term)|mildew (generic term) (verb)|infect (generic term)|taint (generic term) snake dance|2 (noun)|file (generic term)|single file (generic term)|Indian file (generic term) (noun)|ritual dancing (generic term)|ritual dance (generic term)|ceremonial dance (generic term) trammel|6 (noun)|trammel net|fishnet (generic term)|fishing net (generic term) (noun)|pothook (generic term) (noun)|restraint (generic term)|constraint (generic term) (noun)|shackle|bond|hamper|restraint (generic term)|constraint (generic term) (verb)|trap|entrap|snare|ensnare|capture (generic term)|catch (generic term) (verb)|restrict|restrain|limit|bound|confine|throttle|control (generic term)|hold in (generic term)|hold (generic term)|contain (generic term)|check (generic term)|curb (generic term)|moderate (generic term) trammel net|1 (noun)|trammel|fishnet (generic term)|fishing net (generic term) On 11/10/2011 10:55 PM, Bruce Carlson wrote: Hi Tom, I just added the total number of words in these dictionaries and it's three million, nine hundred and thirty one thousand words. To be honest, everyone's mail system that has their own spam filters, tend to look at email-lists differently. Some would think them as spam, by their definitions as spam, while others would not. I have a friend that sends me emails for years. Suddenly my email/domain hosting system started calling her AOL address spam. I use GoDaddy for a hosting service and if one of its users start sending spam, EVERYONE who uses that company to host their domains/emails are declared spam by some of the spam/black list companies. Re: [libreoffice-users] Libreoffice crash in Linux
When I installed 3.4.4 on a system that I newly installed Linux Mint 11 OS onto it, I had to install a default JRE. It did install 3.3.2 on it by its default, but it never installed the needed JRE for the 3.4.x versions. Otherwise it works fine for me. I wonder why Mint does not install a JRE by default? Even though this IBM server [cir. 2002] originally had SUSE installed, I never could get openSUSE to run on it when I bought the server a few years back. Hopefully it works better now than back then. Jeremy, This came back from Florian , I don't have exact details on the spam checks, but our mail log shows that your message has a spam threshold of 7,663 - which is very high. What you can do is to try to resubscribe again and Bcc (!) postmas...@documentfoundation.org. I will then investigate the headers. let me know when you send the request and I will advise them . [libreoffice-users] Please help me Excel file problem but please do not subscribe me and my name on forum
Hello there, A million thanks for free LibreOffice. I have created some excel chat on Windows with Microsoft office 2007 and 2010. I have nought a macbookpro laptop and I have installed on it OpenOffice 3.3 and last night I noticed it doesn't display my excel charts. My charts are inside documents (I mean I have included my graphs inside my PhD thesis chapters). Open Office displays words and description but graphs are faded. I can see graphs in my friend's laptop which is windows and she has Microsoft Office 2007 on it. My question is this: If I install free LibreOffice on my MacbookPro (2011 version), will it display my Excel charts that I have created on Windows laptop with Microsoft office 2007 and 2010? [libreoffice-users] Headings with custom list not working
I am trying to create headings using a Custom List to define the heading format. This is not working. It should be trivial. What I am doing is the create a Custom List using Outline and making the levels on the left margin - e.g. Doc Headings2 1.Heading 1 1.1. Heading 2 1.1.3 Heading 3 The preview in the List style shows exactly what I want. I then create custom Heading styles, each derived from Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3 - DocHdg 1, Doc Hdg 2 and DocHdg 3 In each case I set the Outline Level to 1, 2, 3 respectively. I then apply my custom headings and get 1. DocHdg 1 2. DocHdg 2 3. DocHdg 3 This is not what I expected or wanted. In other words the Outline level in the Paragraph Style is being ignored and level 1 list formatting is being applied The Status bar shows the numbering format as Doc Heading : Level 1 Outline 1 (or 2 or 3 depending on the style chosen) which at least explains why the behaviour is happening. Why is the Outline level in the style being ignored and Level 1 being applied? Is this a bug? I can see no rationale for the observed behaviour but the way in which I expected LO to work seems logical and would give great flexibility. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Headings-with-custom-list-not-working-tp3501140p3501140.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

[libreoffice-users] Bug: Setting $DATA causes LibreOffice to crash
Quick summary: Setting the environment variable $DATA causes LibreOffice to crash. I'm using LibreOffice version 3.3.4 on Ubuntu 11.04. Help About says; LibreOffice 3.3.4 OOO330m19 (Build:401) tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.4-0ubuntu1 I normally set an environment variable $DATA to the full name of a directory (for purposes unrelated to LibreOffice). I've found that when this environment variable is set, LibreOffice refuses to run. When I run the command libreoffice from the command line, it shows the splash screen, then terminates with an error message: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException' (Incidentally, it doesn't set a non-zero exit status.) I've worked around the problem by changing the name of my environment variable from $DATA to $DAT, but I suggest that LibreOffice shouldn't misbehave if $DATA is set -- or, at the very least, that it should give me an error message telling me how to work around the problem. (It took me a long time to figure out that the problem was caused by an environment variable, and a while longer to narrow down which one.) I've downloaded the source code to try to track down the problem. I haven't completely diagnosed it, but I suspect that the culprit is the Components::parseXcsXcuIniLayer() function in configmgr/source/components.cxx : ... if (ini.getFrom(rtl::OUString(RTL_CONSTASCII_USTRINGPARAM(DATA)), urls)) { parseFileList(layer + 1, parseXcuFile, urls, ini, recordAdditions); } I also wonder whether some other seemingly innocuous environment variables might cause similar problems. I saw a similar problem in OpenOffice. -- Keith Thompson keith.s.thomp...@gmail.com -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] Cannot get LibreOffice to install
Greetings. I thought I would let you know I am running L.O. 3.4.4. on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 - 64 bit with no problems. Thus it can be done. Most likely the problem is being caused by some hardware or software setting on the computer. You may want to reboot Windows and bring it up in SAFE Mode - you do this by hitting the F8 key during startup. Then once you are up in Safe Mode - Install L.O. Good Luck!
