[libreoffice-users] Re: Password protected files in LibreOffice 3.4.5

2012-01-30 Thread joerg.henning
According to what Cor writes, I should not have any trouble opening my
file then, but I still fail. Seems like a bug to me then. I checked my
build number, it's 502 as well. Should this be filed as a bug report?
I'd do it myself if anybody can give me a short guidance how and where
to.

Hi :)
This guide usually helps people post a bug-report
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport

Note that is a guide, not a set of 'law's or rules.  It should help you get
info together but if you have trouble with it then just post what you can  as
you can always add extra comments or attachments another day.  Also the devs
may not require everything listed in there for every report.  Anything they do
need they can probably help you to get from your system.

Tom :)

Did you see all the other options in the AutoCorrect Option tabs?  There are

The ignore double spaces is an option that needs to be looked.  To be honest,
I do not know what it does when it is checked.  I use double spacing between
lines of text, since that was the preferred way the last time I took an
English course that required typed papers.  The professor required double
spaces between lines of the proper English.  I wonder if double spacing
could be for double spacing in the line spacing?
/snip/

I think the double spaces refers to the old scheme I was taught in school 60
years ago to double-space after a period.
Apparently that's not good practice anymore.  The line spacing you can set up
in the format protocol.

 Hi,

 Ubuntu 10.04 still has 3.3.2.

Known issue with the 3.4.x series, especially on Ubuntu.

Hopefully somebody has succeeded in accessing the Thunderbird address
book or is this solved in 3.5?

Well it is supposed to be fixed in the future 3.5, at least in RC2 the
addressbook wizard works again, on all platforms as far as I can tell,
BUT, the mozab (mozilla address book support) doesn't seem to be able to
be built on Ubuntu at the moment, which means that unless the Ubuntu
people sort it out, the distrib versions still won't work with the TB
 addressbook.

The wizard still doesn't work on
 LibreOffice 3.5.0rc2
 Build ID: e371a95-bf68a13-5a1aa2b-d3c1ae9-b938258
.deb from LO. It's nothing to do with the distrib - but this is running
 on Ubuntu 10.10.

However, opening Base  selecting connect to existing database does show
(for me) 'SeaMonkey Address Book' and 'Thunderbird/IceDove Address Book'
 - those do work - partially[1].
However, Edit|Database|Properties is greyed out on SeaMonkey, I can
only select 'Connection type'. On Thunderbird I can select the profile.

[1] I ran a test by adding test addressbooks on Thundrbird and SeaMonkey
(both are Mozilla versions, not distro related) in additionto the
 regular exising address books:

 In SeaMonkey: TestingSeaMonkey w/1 address
 In Thunderbird: ThunderbirdTest w/1 address

I then opened 3.5RC2  opened Base|Connect to existing
 database|Thunderbird/IceDove Address Book|Finish|Yes Register|Open for
editing| Base opens the SeaMonkey address book (SeaMonkey version 2.7b5)
instead of the Thunderbird (version 9.0.1) address book. I can tell this
because it included the 'TestingSeaMonkey' address book in the tables.
If I repeat the above opening the SeaMonkey address book, Base opens the
correct address book (the SeaMonkey one which includes 'TestingSeaMonkey'.

So something is still screwed up. Profiles/address books for both are
 exactly where they should be:
 Thunderbird: ~/.thunderbird/profile/
 SeaMonkey: ~/.mozilla/seamonkey/profile/

Alex and Gerry,
Thanks for clarifying the issue.
I will wait for the official 3.5 release and than try again. At the
moment I'm too busy to delve further in this problem but I need it
urgently in March as I have to do a mailing. If it's not solved, I will
import the Address Book in a spreadsheet after exporting it as a .csv file.
Thanks again for the clarification and the testing (Gerry).
Joep

Re: [libreoffice-users] Does LO work with Cinnamon - GNOME2 shell in 3?

2012-01-30 Thread Jay Lozier

On 01/29/2012 12:35 PM, webmaster for Kracked Press Productions wrote:

Anyone out there have used Linux Mint 12 with LO?

I am running Mint with Cinnamon. LO runs properly.

This is actually a developer's question, but needs to be asked of the
Users as well.

Does anyone know if LO works with the Cinnamon, which is a shell [I
think that is the correct term] that is placed over GNOME 3.x so it
looks and works like GNOME2.x? I remember that there was some issues
with LO working with GNOME 3.x desktop environment's way of displaying
windows. Since the 2.x project is closed and people were going to
other distros and desktops due to their dislike of GNOME 3.x, Linux
Mint decided to develop a way for people to have their GNOME 2.x
style of desktop on 3.x. It seemed that people were going to Mint
since they still supported 2.x, but when they could no longer get it
from their source [Mint is a fork of Ubuntu, with another Mint a fork
of Debian] they had to provide a GNOME 2.x style of desktop shell to
keep their users happy.

Cinnamon is not stable, according to the web site. It is on Linux
Mint 12, and either in the repository, a Git repository, or in a PPA
for; Ubuntu 11.10, Fedora 16, OpenSUSE 12.1, Arch Linux, and Gentoo.

I have not tried it, since I am still using Ubuntu 10.04. I did not
like Ubuntu's switch to GNOME3 and could not use it with my needs. So
I was stuck with 10.xx. If LO will support that desktop shell
combination, I will now be able to look into having a more up-to-date
OS, other than what Ubuntu places in its 10.04 repository updates. At
least 10.04 now shows LO 3.4.4-402 as the latest version in the
repository, which I installed from LO's web site when it came out.

http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/?page_id=61

With Win 8 going to the Tablet-style of desktop environment, like
GNOME 3 seems to be as well, there is talk about many users will
either have to back-port it to Win 7 or go to Linux. If Linux is
chosen, then they have to use something other than the standard GNOME
3 desktop.

For myself, I use a combination of GNOME2.x and KDE since there are
packages in KDE that are better than GNOME 2.x's version and some of
GNOME 2.x works better than KDE for me for the actual desktop. Many of
the KDE system monitoring and modification packages are easier for me
to use over GNOME 2.x versions. So I have a interesting setup.
Now, if I can get a replacement drive for my test system, I will try
Mint 12 with Cinnamon, but it may take time to get that really old
system [bios will not work with any Windows newer than Win ME, not
even Win2000] a replacement drive. So it will be awhile before I can
test Cinnamon with LO, and I would like to know if it does work well
with LO.

I love this feature of reportbuilder. I was able to eliminate the

Hi

Before reporting this as a bug I wanted to know if Mac and Gnu/Linux
users can reproduce it

The problem: When importing a text file into Calc (eg. CSV), the import
dialog does not steal focus as expected

This only happend when LibO is already open in the background with
another document. As a result, on a busy desktop, the window does not
show up and it can be interpreted as if nothing happened.

Steps to reproduce in Windows Libo 3.5rc2:

1) Open any valid document with LibO, move it to background/non visible
screen (when in multiple screen setup)
2) Create a text file with anything in it
3) While having the explorer on top of all application, Open With..
the newly created file with Calc
4) A window asking questions to finish the import will show up *under*
the current file explorer window

Thanks for any confirmations.

F.

Hi :)
Thanks for asking this list .  For some reason your message seems to have been
missed by people on the list so i think it might be best to just post the
bug-report and see how it goes from there.

Hi :)
Excellent work Alex!  It is really good to know people are keeping an eye on
this sort of thing.  It's also good to know that an old system suddenly works
again.

Hi Heinrich,

I have LO 3.3 installed on Windows/Vista and Linux-Mint-Lisa. The native

worked flawlessly - at least for what I use it. As a fall-back I still
 use the Vista-

 already noticed earlier
on, the connector cannot be activated. ODBC works - well, kind of!

The old connector has been reported as working again on Windows with
3.5RC2, see the bug report :

2012-01-30 Thread e-letter
Readers,

Can people suggest some web-log hosts that allow for (f)odf documents
to be posted/upload to web-log accounts. So far, found only wordpress
which states acceptance of odt (have any users found ods and odp
documents to be accepted?).

Thanks.

AFAIK there is only one Windows version and it should work on 32-bit and

[libreoffice-users] Re: Where can I download LibreOffice for 32-bit Windows XP?

2012-01-30 Thread Pedro
The download page at LibreOffice detects your OS so probably you always see
the Mac version
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

On the box that says MacOSX click on the small arrow and choose Windows ;)
You can also select another language if the one suggested is not what you
wish.

I suggest that you get the same version that you are using on the Mac.
Mixing versions *may* cause file compatibility problems.

Enjoy LibreOffice ;)

I tried in 3.4.5 and it works there fine too. Ctrl-V creates a nice
Impress-table with the content that I copy from Calc.

[libreoffice-users] Three-way-merge: How to do that?

2012-01-30 Thread Johannes Sixt
I want to do a three-way merge of three versions of a Writer document. I
have:

- Base.odt - the original version
- Theirs.odt - a version of Base.odt modified by someone else
- Ours.odt - a version of Base.odt that I modified.

Now I want to integrate the modifications that change Base.odt into
Theirs.odt into my version, Ours.odt. In particular, my own changes are
not part of Theirs.odt.

I tried Edit-Changes-Merge documents in the following way:

1. Load Theirs.odt
2. Edit-Compare Document, select Base.odt
3. Save as Theirs-diff.odt (here, the edits are clearly marked)
4. Load Ours.odt
5. Edit-Changes-Merge documents, select Theirs-diff.odt

but I only see the message Could not merge documents.

Any pointers how I should proceed?

I tried this on a toy example, and it works fine, but with a complicated
200-page document it does not work. What could be the reason?

Thanks, Hannes

I think the first versions of Lotus Symphony could read Lotus 123 y Wordpro.
You can try downloading from this link:
http://www-03.ibm.com/software/lotus/symphony/home.nsf/home
Select Get Lotus Symphony 1.3.
The last version don't read Lotus files.

Hi :)
The lwp files should work. If they don't then it might be worth posting a
bug-report about the ones that don't
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport

They might like an example of a file that does work and one that doesn't.
That might help them see if there is some obvious and trivial problem.
