Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Background color change for the whole program

2012-04-26 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Are those settings stored in the User Profile somewhere?
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/UserProfile
You can copy single files or folders from the User Profile to other machines
and even if they are running different OSes they tend to pick-up on the
relevant change.

A better way might be to find out how to create a theme or icon set.  I guess
the Design Team would be really happy to help with that.  Part of the idea of
OpenSource is that when you fix something for yourself you are usually able to
pass the fix along to other people.  In this case uploading the icon-set/theme
to the relevant wiki-page orperhaps the Extensions website.

Tom :)

Thanks, it's better than nothing, but it would be nice to get a dark and
light scheme added to this section were you can edit the appearance.

For now, I'll change all the white or light gray settings to darker colors
and the opposite for the dark colors so I can see them.

However,  I do use multiple computers.  So, this means I have to change all
these settings for every computer I use.  If there was a dark and light
scheme we could just click, click, and then be off to the races much faster.

Hi :)
Phew! :)  I'm glad that was useful and you were able to fix the problem :)  It
is really tricky to find the line, partly because it's practically invisibly
soft grey and partly because it's so thin.  Once you know where it is it's much
easier to find!

Spain-2012-04-26.odt

Note that adding a caption put a frame around the picture.  Applying
the Wrap - Spacing
to the picture tries to create space between the picture and the frame
which creates a bit of confusion!  In the upload i have applied the
spacing to the frame that is around the picturecaption.

Hopefully this gives you something you can copypaste into to replace
the caption and the main body-text.

Tom,

Thanks for figuring it out. Indeed, it was the caption frame that was
causing the offset to fail. It took some poking with the mouse, but
eventually I was able to select the caption frame and set the wrap on
it.

However, setting a wrap on the picture should not suddenly cause the
picture to re-scale, so there is definitely a bug.

Hi :)
You might want to post a bug-report but use the subject-line and perhaps the
drop-down menus to make it clear that it is a feature request (or wishlist)
item.

Both these 2 links give the same end-result but you might be forced to use the
2nd link because i don't think the 1st one is really made for feature requests
(it's worth trying tho!)

Hello all,

I am a user of LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 under Ubuntu 10.04 (but soon moving to 12.04
:) )
I'm writing to make a suggestion for Impress, more precisely in the Printing
and PDF exporting options.

Background:
It is currently possible to export an .ODP to .PDF (single slide). Under the
Print option, it is also possible to print to a file (.PDF) with multiple
slides per page (Handouts).
Also under the print option, when selecting other information to print, I
have the 3 following Contents choices: adding the Slide name, the Date and
Hidden pages. (see Impress Documentation, Chapter 10 Printing, E-mailing,
Exporting, and Saving Slide Shows, page 7)

Suggestion:
What I would like to suggest is to add in this Contents menu the choice Page
number, so that I could add the page number on my Handout. (see Impress
Documentation, Chapter 10 Printing, E-mailing, Exporting, and Saving Slide
Shows, page 7)
For example, I have a Handout of 2 numbered slides on one .PDF page (with Print
to file option), but I cannot add the page number via Impress.

Additional suggestion:
Furthermore, when converting directly to .PDF (either with the Save as PDF, the
Export to PDF or the PDF button of the Standard menu bar), it would be nice to
add the option of a Handout there, with the same Contents menu, i.e. add the
page number to the handout.

I hope everything was clear since French is my first language ;)

Thank you very much guys,

Guillaume Pomerleau

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Printint to PocketMod layout

2012-04-26 Thread webmaster-Kracked_P_P

The problem is the section labeled 5, 6, B, F. They are up-side-down.
It is not the easiest thing to do. If you do landscape, the top half of
the page is in the proper orientation, but the bottom half has the text
up-side-down. If you have your page in portrait mode, then the left
side of the page has its text 90 degrees to the left and the right side
of the page has its text 90 degrees to the right.

That is the true issue. How easy would it be in Writer to have the text
either up-side-down, or sideways?

Myself, I do not remember how to do such a thing, and in fixed
column/frame areas as well.

I was wondering if there is a workaround to Impress, and the bug with
alt-tags not exporting correctly to pdf. For my work alt-tags are required
to improve accessibility. Power point does this, and it looks like Google
Docs does as well.

Get the data source window (hit F4)
Browse your registered database and the table therein.
Drag the table icon from the left pane into your sheet.

[X] Keep formatting (=keep sheet cell formatting)
[X] InsertRemove cells (=preserve, expand and shrink adjacent formulas)
[X] Do not store linked data (=prompt for update on open)
Button [Modify], [OK]
Save the spreadsheet.
## END OF SETUP ##

[Text file] -- [Base configuration] -- [Office document (Writer or Calc)]

Every time you open the spreadsheet, you will be prompted to refresh the

Normally, gradient background is a part of the background choices
for Writer and Impress, but it is not with Calc. The only thing
available is background colors.
The cell styles does have a tab named Font Effects. You might get
something you could use from there, but it won't be gradients.
I don't know how much you know about styles. They are very useful
when using LO. The F11 key will open the Styles and Formating window.
When you open this window in Calc, the Cell styles are listed in this
window. The Calc guide should have information about how to use styles
in it.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Windows - Lost my new file entries

2012-04-26 Thread Andreas Säger

Nils Jeppe wrote

 Hi Guys,

Got a small semi-cosmetic issue, and I have absolutely no idea how it
happened. I did have OOo installed, and deinstalled while I kept LO, and
I noticed this afterwards - no clue if that's got something to do with it.

Anyway, I am a big user of the right-click - New - (File type)
functionality in Windows. However, my LO/OOo entries disappeared
 completely.

Since I have no idea how it happened, I figured simply re-installing LO
 should do the trick.

As a big user of right-clickNew(File type) you should know where Windows
stores the templates for this context menus. You can drop anything in that
place. I don't know the location since I do not use Windows. All I know is
that these templates exist independently from any templates you store in
your user profile (Windows does not support true file system links). So when
you define a default template for the LibOmenu:FileNew action, this will
not affect the WindowsRight-Click

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: rtf import broken in 3.5.1?

2012-04-26 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
What!!  An agreed 'Open' Standard that MS never quite implemented in the way
they had promised but still managed to push as the unifying standard that all
other companies had to follow.  The format they promised would have long term
support so that historical archives and such could reliably store documents for
the long-term future in much the way that books have lasted.  The one that
no-one other than MS (hmm, not even MS) managed to implement because MS never
quite got around to publishing how they had messed up the format in any
particular release.  The format that resulted in court actions which MS
apparently lost.  The one that MS is quietly dropping support for and not
developing any further so that all existing problems remain.

Luckily we have all learned our lesson and anyway MS wouldn't try to fool us
the same way again, right? lol ;)
Regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] graphic doesn't print the outlines

2012-04-26 Thread JeepNut

Hi all.
I used Writer to design a silly little simple label with a couple of
small images and some text.
I selected all of the image components (not grouped) and chose to set
the Line / Continuous / 0.02. THEN I individually selected the images
and text boxes and set Lines - Invisible
So I don't want any lines in the middle but want the label to print with
a clear outer border.

I reproduced that 8 times on the page. It looks fine in the print preview.
But when printed, there is no outer border shown on the labels.

Any hints?
Thanks!

I said I am a user. If I had the know-how to fix this myself, I
obviously would have done so, don't you think?

(If this is the condescending attitude I have to expect here all the
time, please let me know now so I can run for the hills.)

Anyway. I did try to follow the trail of registry entries as best I
could, but found nothing that screamed this is broken, change it!.
There seem to not necessarily be physical files for templates anymore as
there were back in the olden days; as a specific example the
OOo/OpenDocument entries call soffice -n %1 in the LO install location.
I have entries for the templates that don't show up in my right-click
menu. They *seem *fine, but obviously that can't be the case.
