[libreoffice-users] Autofilter sorting bug

2013-01-26 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
I ran into a bug today, and it seems to be reported already:

https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=35294#add_comment

Last comment was:
”Dear bug submitter!

Due to the fact, that there are a lot of NEEDINFO bugs with no answer
within the last six months, we close all of these bugs.

To keep this message short, more infos are available @
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/NeedinfoClosure#Statement

Thanks for understanding and hopefully updating your bug, so that
everything is prepared for developers to fix your problem.

Yours!

Florian”

The bug persists in 3.5.7.2. Could someone please test this in 3.6 and
4.0 and report back? I want to reopen that bug report unless someone
tells me that it no longer exist in more recent LibreOffice versions.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Base Query Sort and Reports

2013-01-26 Thread capemayal
Yes, thank you Dan.

I upgraded to 3.6.4, and the problem went away.

Perhaps you can add assistance with another query?

I have created a parameter query with a case when statement :

case when dateadd('dd', 365, originaldate) = dateadd('dd', 90,
current_date) else '' end

Problem is that instead of showing just the records that satisfy the
parameter, it shows all records.

If I solve that part, then the query will run exactly as I want it to.

Thanks again,
Al

[libreoffice-users] Re: Calc sliding scale formulae? - SOLVED Part 1

2013-01-26 Thread Hylton Conacher (ZR1HPC)

On 10/01/13 17:38, Hylton Conacher (ZR1HPC) wrote:

Hi,

I am using Calc 3.4.5 on openSuSe Linux 11.2

I am working on a spreadsheet to cater for the monthly measurement of
household electricity consumption, new unit purchase and costing of used
units.

The electricity supplier gives me the first 150 units of electricity at
R1.29 per unit. The next 350 units are costed at R1.35 per unit.
Thereafter the units cost me R1.60 per unit. The monetary values per set
amount of unit changes when the electricity provider increases prices
i.e. the first 150 units might increase to R1.50 per purchased unit, the
next 350 units might be costed at R1.55 and thereafter units will cost
R2.00.

Each time I purchase electricity the units I am allocated are based on
the above sliding scale starting from 0.

How can I work out the number of units I will receive for a given
currency value i.e. R2000.00? i.e. x @ R1.29, y @ R1.35 and z @ R1.60=
R2000

In addition how could I work out the value of units consumed using the
above scale?

I am assuming the R values in the scale will change over time and these
can each be averaged to calculate the cost of units used, but the
problem is still to work out the formula.

Anybody have an idea if this is possible and where to start?

I am investigating results found on Google but would appreciate a
pointer or three.

The calculation of the number of unit of electricity across a sliding
scale has been solved.

A member of this mailing list suggested using the IF formula. With some
formula tweaking with , it proved to be the right answer. Tnx to that
member. I only wish they had corresponded via the mailing list as
opposed to directly, as perhaps there would have been greater learning
for all subscribers.

I have attached the completed to date file, via BCc email, for those who
showed an interest in solving the problem, as I know the ML doesn't
accept attachments. . I anyone else wants it, feel free to contact me
directly at hyl...@conacher.co.za and request it.

I have tested the Purchases tab in the spreadsheet using LibreOffice
3.4.5 and using common currency values, it works.

Next are the other tabs etc.

Thanks again to those that helped

For example you have to rows, say 15 and 16, and if you move row 15 row
16 is moved to the new location keeping the relative its relative position?

I do not remember seeing this in any spreadsheet. With adjacent rows and

[libreoffice-users] Installing 4.0 alongside 3.5

2013-01-26 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
For some reasons I want to try the upcoming version 4.0. On the web
page, they say ”You are not recommended to use LibreOffice pre-release
builds for mission-critical purposes”. So obviously I need a stable
version as well, like the 3.5.7.2 that I have installed right now.

So I presume that I can use both versions at the same time, that they
are ”isolated” from each other as long as 4.0 is a pre-release, right?

But before I'm going to install it, I want to know rather than just assume…

So, is it possible? If so, can I just install the debs (operating
system=Ubuntu 12.04) and it will just work? Will I be able to run both
versions at the same time safely?

hi. in theory it is possible, having the software different names (lo36
or lo40). then you bild different launchers to call different packages.
one problem may be given by the configuration files in your home/.config
directory: inside you should find 2 directories: 3 4... installatio
may replace some libraries, but it shouldn't give conflicts or
problems... you should also be able, for example, to add to submenus
(eg lo3 and lo4) to the menus... try with the packages names.

In theory it is possible. In reality, you can run LO 3.5.7.2s and
4.0.0.2 at the same time. What you can not do is install the
desktop-integration file for both of these. In Ubuntu 12.04, you have to
Edit Menus. (I use gnome classic rather than Unity.)
As a test, I ran LO 3.5.7.2 and 4.0.0.2 at the same time with no
problems. I also ran AOO 3.4.1. That is three different soffice.bin
files running at once. The key as mentioned is the configuration
folders. For anyone having installed 3.X.X and 4.0.0.2, the LibreOffice
folder in the .config folder is really two configuration folders: 3 and
4. The former is used by LO 3.5.x or 3.6.x, so these can not be run at
the same time.
I had the Ubuntu version of LO 3.5.4 on my laptop. It also used
.config/LibreOffice/3/. This prevented me from running the Ubuntu
version and LO 3.6.X from the LO website at the same time.

My last message should have said the case statement is

 Hi
 capemayal,
In your case expression you use the WHEN keyword. You should have a THEN
keyword to match. If the two dates in your expression match THEN what
 happens ?

  Yes, thank you Dan.

I upgraded to 3.6.4, and the problem went away.

Perhaps you can add assistance with another query?

I have created a parameter query with a case when statement :

  case when dateadd('dd', 365, originaldate) = dateadd('dd', 90,
  current_date) else '' end

Problem is that instead of showing just the records that satisfy the
  parameter, it shows all records.

If I solve that part, then the query will run exactly as I want it to.

  Thanks again,
  Al

I have created a query from one table. In the query design grid I

The query works as expected with results sorted on the 'name' field.

When creating a report, using the wizard, with the query as the

   no
matter what I do the query sort does not carry over to the report.

It appears that no matter what field the query is sorted on, the
 report
always sorts via the ID field, which is also the primary key.

I have tried using the query sort, then using the same field in the
   report's
sort option; I've tried using the report control to change SQL
 Command
   as
source to the query, and order by 'name' in the report control.

All of this makes no change. The report does not sort the way the
  query
   is
made.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you been able to correct your query and report? Where did
you get your version of LO 3.5.4? Did it come with a Linux
 distribution?
   If so, which one?
I ask these questions because I have not been able to duplicate
your problem using LO 3.5.7 from the LibreOffice website.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Base Report Builder

2013-01-26 Thread Hank Alper
Hi Alex, Mark, Tom,
You guys scare me ! I'm beginning to think I'd better start looking for a
new back end. I've put a lot of work into this project. Tom, this is not a
small database like an address book. After normalizing, my design has 16
tables.( with a few more coming as I've discovered as I feed more data
into it.) If I connect to an external server is there any way I can save my
forms and reports? Or shall I have to start anew ? My tables, queries and
views were all produced using SQL and I have text copies of all of them to
feed any server I might select. Transfer of data becomes a problem, of
course.

As I mentioned in my answer to Tom, if you use an external version of
hsqldb, it can only be the same version number as the internal version
provided with LO, else the old ODB files can no longer be opened. In
other words, you can not install an external hsqldb jar and expect your
old ODB(hsqldb) files to keep working, as this will throw an error.

So yes, it still remains a possibility, but one that you may want to
avoid if you still have old ODB files that use the internal hsqldb with
an older revision number than the externa jar you plug into LO.

[libreoffice-users] libreOfficeImpress hangs after inserting 2minute video

2013-01-26 Thread Philipp Walderdorff

As I did not get answer to my post I am sending my question here:
Here is my posting in libreOfficeForum.org
http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/5187:

Inserting short video (mpeg2, extension *.mpg) into libreOffice impress
did work well.
I did the insert of the video by drag and drop. May be this was the
course of the problem?
Now, after inserting a video with 2 minutes length I cannot use
libreOfficeImpress any more:
When starting libreOfficeImpress the window opens, but with a blinking
window-frame, without anything inside the window. LibreOfficeImpress is
just blockt, and other screenactivities are becomming slowly.

My system: Ubuntu precise (12.04.1 LTS)
Memory Size: 4 GB
Libreoffice 3.5.4.2

LibreOfficeWrite does open, I can write a letter and when I close it,
libreOfficeImpress stops also.

1. Question: What are the limits of file-amount for films?
2. Question: Where does libreOfficeImpress saves its systemdata?
As I cannot start libreOffice any more, I tried to uninstall and install
libreOffice new. Same Problem!
I tried to delete /home/philipp/.libreoffice* and uninstall and install
new. Same Problem!

Cannot use libreOffice any more!!!
Thanks for any help.
