All I can think is to check that the number of copies is set to 1 when
printing. That may sound obvious, but there are two places it can be
set, which might catch you out. After going to File Print, click the
General tab and select the required printer. Then:

1. Make sure Number of copies on the dialog itself is set to 1.
2. Click Properties This brings up the printer-specific
properties, where there is also usually an option to set a number of
copies (check all the tabs - it varies by printer).

Set any other options as needed, and click OK to print as usual.

These two settings operate separately... In the past, I've ended up with
9 copies instead of 3, when I set LibreOffice to print 3 copies and set
the printer properties to print 3 copies (thinking changing the option
in LibreOffice should have updated that option for the printer). It
turns out that makes LibreOffice send 3 copies to the printer, which
then prints those 3 copies 3 times!

Note that it won't open in Writer (or other modules), and that opening a

with the import (but if all you want is get a picture it's alright).

Sometimes it is better to find a free PDF editor [Windows or Linux] to
do the needed editing for PDF forms and other interactive PDF files.

LibreOffice is a great office package, but it was not meant to do
everything. [Unlike MSO wants to become]

To do everything, LO would become a very large install that would be
too packed with options that would make it too complex for a lot of
users, since the navigation menu[s] would be so large and layered that
you could get lost in them trying to find the option you want to use.

For me, I use dedicated packages for things like web page development
and modification. Writer can do this, but having a package that only
does HTML and web page scripting seems easier to use. I also use
dedicated packages for image/photo editing and another one for raster
based image editing. I never learned to use Draw for my needs, since I
have been using other product[s] for more years than LO has been out.

I use LO a lot, but like a large percent of its users, I used it for
word processing [Writer], spreadsheets [Calc], presentations [Impress].
When I go beyond the basics of each module, I tend to fall back to
both paid and free packages that I have been using for over ten years,
through the original packages and their upgrades.

We all choose the software that is best for our needs, one reason I
choose LO. But unless you created a PDF form with Writer, I would use a
package that was meant to edited PDF interactive forms. There are free
ones out there. It is worth a look-see.

I wonder if you have a glitch in your config file[s] that define
printing with LibreOffice. I do not remember the document location, but
if you close LO and save the config file[s] location to a new name, then
open LO again, LO will build a new set of configuration data.

I had this issue a few years where LO was stuck on printing pages as if
I set it to print 4 pages per sheet and then defined it so only one
quarter of the page is printed and the rest of the sheet is left blank.
I could not get the settings to take hold so it would print properly.
When I had LO recreate a fresh configuration the problem was fixed.

To be honest, I have had this happen a few times, but not in the past
year or so. This method was the easiest way for me to fix the printer
issue/glitch that happened. Also, LO was not the only package that has
done this, but at least I did not have to remove and reinstall the whole
package to get the printer problems fixed.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Dot separated date in YYYY.MM.DD format

2014-12-28 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Sounds like a good fail-safe, so that users are not bound by rigid
restrictions but the displayed figures are always consistently correct.

I suspect that you can even enter much shorter numbers for dates within the
year, such as;
12.31
getting corrected to;
2014.12.31
I'm not sure if you can also drop the month, if it's within the same month,
and just type
31
to get the same result but even a little less typing can make a
difference.

Tom :)

 patterns
I don't know how this should be set. I tried .MM.DD. This did not
work. (with the semicolon) I tried Y.M.D. This worked. (with the semicolon)
 Here:
Format - Cells - Numbers - Format code
 I must use .MM.DD, not Y.M.D.

What led to this inconsistent format? I am interested in the technical
reasons behind. I think that it will be consistent if a user is allowed to
type the same .MM.DD format code in both places to get what she or he
 wants.

I'm guessing here, but surely there are different requirements in the two
places? In the cell formatting, you are indicating exactly the format you
require - so you are choosing the year to appear as , not YY, for
example. But the acceptance pattern is more general: you are merely showing
that you want year-dot-month-dot-day to be a format automatically
interpreted as a date. With Y.M.D as an acceptance pattern, can you not
enter the forthcoming New Year's Day (for example) as 2015.01.01, 2015.1.1,
15.01.01, and many other forms - but have all interpreted correctly and
displayed in the cell itself in the cell's format - as 2015.01.01 in your
 case?

 I trust this helps.

Which version of LO?

There was a bug in 4.2.7 which involved sorting

Update to 4.2.8
Or update to 4.3.5.2

[libreoffice-users] Export all slides from a PowerPoint document?

2014-12-28 Thread Gilles
Hello

I need to export all the slides that are part of a PowerPoint document. I
don't know which version of PowerPoint was used, but a right-click says
Microsoft PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (.ppt).

The slides contain text and images, but Google only returned infos about how
to either export a single slide, or all the /images /or all the /text/.

In LibreOffice Impress, File Export only exports the /current slide/.

Is there an easy way to export /all the slides/ in one go?

Thank you.

[libreoffice-users] mySQL login from a form using direct connect

2014-12-28 Thread craig48
I am running LibreOffice 4.3.4.1 on Fedora 21. I'm trying to run a
LibreOffice basic macro from a form using the mysql direct connect. I am
able to open tables in the database without any problem.

When I open the form, the database password is requested and I enter it, and
the form's grid is loaded with the data. I'm having trouble connecting from
the form using a basic macro. The connection requires a password. Running
the following code produces an error at the getConnection statement:

sURL = sdbc:mysql:mysqlc:sys76.localdomain:3306/folding
oManager = CreateUnoService(com.sun.star.sdbc.DriverManager)
oCon = oManager.getConnection(sURL)

The resulting error is:

BASIC runtime error.
An exception occurred
Type: com.sun.star.sdbc.SQLException
Message: Access denied for user 'craig'@'mac.localdomain' (using password:
NO).

What do I need to change to successfully connect with the macro?

Craig
