[libreoffice-users] Printing Labels from Spreadsheet No longer working
I am using LO 4.3.1.2 on Yosemite I have a spread sheet that I want to create labels from. This worked well in prior versions but have not done it with this version yet. I created an odb from the spreadsheet Then a created labels and filled the master label with fields from the selected odb I created a new document which was the one page template with the fields on it. I did View Data SOurce and confirmed that the data source is there and readable. Then, no matter what I do, I can't get any data through the form and only get the names of the form fields printed. If I try the old mail merge wizard, and can't get beyond the select address list even though the spreadsheet is shown as selected. What am I doing wrong with this new version? What am I missing? -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-users] Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] style announcement regression when using orca on linux
Hi :) Has anyone tried out a screen-reader called Orca to help with partially-sighted people, blind or even for fully-sighted who just want to be able to wander around listening to documents being read out instead of having to sit at the computer all the time? If you fancy trying it you could help test to see if the bug below is present and help identify which version number was likely to be the first one affected, or which platforms (eg Windows, Bsd or all the rest) Regards from Tom :) On 23 January 2015 at 16:44, am_d...@fastmail.fm wrote: I filed https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=88702 which relates to how orca is no longer announcing style information such as bold italic and underline. This applies to libreoffice fresh as well as master which I pulled from git and built. Can anyone reproduce this? I believe it is a regression in libreoffice as this works in version 4.2 of libreoffice with the same version of the accessibility stack and orca. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: accessibility+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/accessibility/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-users] MySQL - LO Base question.
Hi All I have been running a MySQL Database with LO Base as a front-end for some time now - and VERY successfully indeed compared to the built-in engine in LO Base!! (My OpSys is PClinuxOS 32-bit) For a variety of reasons I decided to rebuild my system last week. I have a back-up of my Database as a CSV file and have completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the OpSys and all relevant programs and copied all my data into /home. I now need to set-up my Database again but have a question. (My Database has only one table with about 2500 records and each record has 80 fields.) Which is the correct procedure?? 1) Set-up the Database in MySQL and create an empty table to import the CSV into. Then link Base to it. 2) Set-up the Database in MySQL then use LO Base to create the table and do the import 3) Set-up the Database using LO Base and then import the data. Thanks for any pointers. RE: [libreoffice-users] MySQL - LO Base question.
If you had installed MySQL Workbench before you rebuilt your hard drive, you could have exported your database file. Then when you had rebuilt the hard drive, you could import the sql file. This is easier than what you are now doing. Which is the correct procedure?? 2) Set-up the Database in MySQL then use LO Base to create the table and do the import I would suggest option 2. Sorry about the long post, but I hope this helps. Login to MySQL as normal In MySQL create an EMPTY database mysql create database newname ; or reuse your old database name. Quit MySQL \q Take your CSV file and open it in LibreOffice calc. Save the spreadsheet Open new database in LibreOffice Base Select connect to an Existing Database Select MySQL on the next screen Select the driver (I use JDBC) on the next screen Enter the name of the database you created in MySQL Enter the server, probably Localhost or 127.0.0.1 Accept the default Port on the next screen Enter your MySQL logon name Tick Password required on the Final screen Select Yes register the database Click Finish Now LibreOffice will ask for a new database name -- this is the name of the Base Front End you will be using to connect to the MySQL server (it is NOT a database!). When LibreOffice creates the new front end it should open with a blank set of tasks. Open the spreadsheet you created earlier. Select ALL the data including column headings Copy this data Go to your front end Make sure that Tables are selected in the list of tasks Click in the blank area below the Options panel Paste your data!! LibreOffice will ask you to confirm that you want to add the definition data, and that the first row is column headings Click OK On the next screen you need to select the columns (or fields) that you want to import. Just select all. Click Create LibreOffice should, all being well, create a new table with all your data in the correct columns. You may be asked if you want to add a primary key. I suggest that you say yes. You can always change this later but it saves problems when inserting a pasted set of data. You should now have a new database with all your original data as previously. You may have to do some tidying up if the data types did not import correctly, such as Dates. Sorry about the long post, but I hope this helps. [libreoffice-users] Need Help with calc
Hello! Need Help with calc. I often use links to other cells. That is, for example, copying what a cell, and then for example in another worksheet using the menu insert as and insert a link. But if I cell is empty, then insert as a link on an empty cell is not working. You can of course use a formula such as: = A1, but it is not convenient. Здравствуйте! Требуется помощь по calc. Я часто использую ссылки на другие ячейки. То есть например: копирую какую нибудь ячейку, а затем например в другом листе использую меню вставить как и вставляю связь. [libreoffice-users] [Base] macro for adding a formatted field in a report.
Hello everyboby, I use LibreOffice 4.3.3.2 and desperatly look for a mean to add a formatted field in a report made with reportbuilder. I manage to clone a field and then modify its properties but I don't manage to _directly_ add a formatted field in a report with a basic macro. So here is what works fine (that is to say I get a new field in my report) :dim oConnection as object dim aProp(2) as new com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue dim oReportsDocuments as object dim oReportDesign as object oConnection = ThisDatabaseDocument.DataSource.getconnection(,) aProp(0).Name = ActiveConnection aProp(0).Value = oConnection aProp(1).Name = Hidden aProp(1).Value = true aProp(2).Name = OpenMode aProp(2).Value = openDesign oReportsDocuments = ThisDatabaseDocument.ReportDocuments 'Open report in design mode and hidden oReportDesign = oReportsDocuments.loadComponentFromURL(Rapport1, , 0, aProp()) REM ### oField = oReportDesign.Detail.getbyindex(1).createclone oField.name=totoREM ### oReportDesign.detail.add(oField) aProp(1).Value = false aProp(2).Value = open ' Now the result of the report wil be showed. and the hidden report in design mode is closed oReportsDocuments.loadComponentFromURL(Rapport1, , 23, aProp()) If I now create my toto field by replacing the two lines between REM instructions by :oField = createUnoService(com.sun.star.comp.report.OFormattedField) with oField .name = toto .datafield = field:[Format] .positionX = 14000 .positionY = 0 .width = 2000 .height = 500 end with oReportDesign.detail.add(oField)I get no error message but I get no new field in my report either. So my questions are :what am I missing because I think I am not too far from the solution (no error)?Do I forget to set an important property in the oField object?I a word : how to solve this problem? Thank you so much for your help. Really.Best regards.Felix.
Re: [libreoffice-users] Need Help with calc
So, what do you mean with is not working? I made a test sheet with some figures and formulas, and also defined a couple of areas. Moreover I made a new sheet where I inserted links, in the way I assume you mean. Well, here is my experience. A link appears to make a copy of the content in the source into the target cells with relative cell addressing in the target. An empty cell in the source is copied when linking as an empty cell in the target. I can agree, this is not how one use to look at a link. To me a link is something pointing to the value in the source, might be a formula, but still with addressing in the source. Apparently this is not how LO looks at this, and that is a surprise for me too. A bug or something to live with? Someone? Hello! Need Help with calc. I often use links to other cells. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Printing from Linux, Kubuntu/Ubuntu
Hi :) I almost always have at least 4 partitions; 1 for swap, 1 for /home or just to put my data on and 2 to have different distros or different versions of the same distro on. Re: [libreoffice-users] Typography Toolbar
Hi Frank :) It sounds like it might be a good idea to contact the Extension's devs? Are those Extensions under OpenSource licenses such as LGPL or MPL or something like that? Is it maybe worth posting a feature request to see if our devs can fix it? If it turns out to be judged as being an Easy Hack that would help any new devs wanting something to practice on and get feedback about. maybe good to post a feature request to help make it easier to fully integrate such Extensions into the proper LibreOffice system more fully so that the toolbars can be edited in the same way as proper LO toolbars? It might be a good idea to contact the devs to see which of those ideas is more plausible or see if they have better ideas. Be aware that devs do not always have a great reputation for being people-friendly and many of the best devs can often seem quite abrupt = so if they seem rude try not to take offence as they probably didn't mean to cause any.
