[libreoffice-users] install of 5.0.0.5 on Win10 seems slower

2015-08-05 Thread Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster

I had 4.4.5 installed on my Win10 laptop.
When I installed 5.0.0.5, it seemed a lot slower than the last time I
updated LO from one line to a newer one [i.e. 4.3.x to 4.4.x on Win7]
IT has been a long time since I upgraded a 3.x.x to 4.0.x, so I do not
know if that type of upgrade will be slower than upgrading within a
line like 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 or 4.4.5.

I do not know if it was something involved with Win10 or with 5.0.0.5.

Anyone have the same [subjective] longer install time, on Win7 thru.
Win10 going from 4.4.x to 5.0.0.x?

Note: I am running Win10 Professional 64-bit on a
DELL Inspiron 1525
with Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.0 GHz,
3.0 Gig RAM,
45 GB free space on the Windows Partition.

Cheers,

Trying to install on Linux Mint 17.2 using the Deb download and I get
this error when trying to open:

LibreOffice 5.0 - Fatal Error
The application cannot be started.
User installation could not be completed.

How do I fix that?

Cheers,

Trying to install on Linux Mint 17.2 using the Deb download and I
get this error when trying to open:

Trying to open what? LibreOffice after installation completed or what?

That's correct. Install goes OK, get the error on launching.

LibreOffice 5.0 - Fatal Error
The application cannot be started.
User installation could not be completed.

Did this happen when installing or when trying to open the program?

Trying to open.

How do I fix that?

First we need to know exactly what happened. Exactly what did you
download, from exactly where? How did you install it (clicking
something or using a terminal)? Some details about your computer would
also be appropriate I think, for instance to figure out if you
selected the right package for your machine.

I downloaded the 64 bit Deb package from libreoffice.org, extracted all
files, right-clicked in the Debs folder and chose open with Terminal.
I then issued the command

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

My computer is an Acer Aspire E3 112 64 bit with 120GB SSD and 4GB RAM

OK - seems like there's a ppa up and running which solves this problem!

[libreoffice-users] Bizarre effect of LO 5 ppa on different machines

2015-08-05 Thread Gordon Burgess-Parker

I have to machines, both 64 bit, both running Linux Mint 17.2 fully updated.
I have used this code to install LO 5.0:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

On one machine, I now have LO 5.0.
On the other, it's still on 4.4.3.2

Can anyone throw any light on this bizarre ocurrence?
Why should one machine get LO 5 and the other not?

Re: [libreoffice-users] unsubscribe

2015-08-05 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
To unsubscribe please send an email to the special address;
users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org

Note that many email clients change that from a clickable link to an edited
one that doesn't work. It needs you to make sure the bit before the plus
sign and the bit afterwards are both included.

It doesn't matter what, if anything, you put in the subject-line or the
message as neither gets read by the automated system.

Full instructions are on the official website on this page;
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
