Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: 5.0.5.1 and 5.1.0.3 crashes easily on Windows (10, 1511 build, 64 bit)

2016-02-03 Thread Carlo Strata

Thank you Miguel Angel Riosv and V Stuart Foot!

Before installing the 5.1.0.3 I already had performed a complete rename
of the LibreOffice profile directory:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4

I install LibreOffice in this way:
 * Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit (x86-64), 1511 build, Italian,
daily updated;

 * Java 1.8.0 update 71 (x86-64) configured on LibreOffice in Tools ->
   Options -> LibreOffice -> Advanced;
 * LibreOffice 5.1.0.3, win64, custom install:
 ** full Optional Components selected;
 ** Italian gui (the default in my case) and English gui (to help bug
hunting...);

 * LibreOffice 5.1.0.3, win64, Italian help installed.

Unchecking Tools -> Options -> View: "Use OpenGL for all rendering (on
restart)" fix (thank you!) in Writer that some numerical dialog box were
losting the up and down arrows (see, for example, in a writer image the
size properties boxes, paragraph properties, ...).

I will keep you informed about the stability!

Have all a sunny day!

This concerns me. The dual GPUs are supposed to be a power saving feature.
But, there is a good chance that with the dual GPU, on execution LibreOffice
is not being assigned to the higher performance AMD Radeon HD 8500M/8700M
series GPU and is running poorly on the HD 7600G series.

There should be a utility with the Radeon software to specify programs that
require execution on the high performance GPU.

Also, would need the content of the LibreOffice opengl_device.log file as
that should record which GPU and more importantly the driver signature that
LibreOffice uses to enable or disable OpenGL support.

Another helpful diagnostic utility would be a summary run from the OpenGL
Extensions Viewer by realtech-vr available here:
http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/

[libreoffice-users] Uninstalling incompatible extension

2016-02-03 Thread jwkokc
After installation of version 5.03, I found that the 'AltSearch" extension
that I had installed for version 4.x is apparently incompatible with the
newer version, but I have not yet located any instructions for removing such
an extension. Now, each time I save a document while exiting from Writer, I
get an error message that files are damaged and will be reconstructed next
time I open them.

No damage is evident, and no files are listed in the message. I renamed my
user profile as per the on-line instructions, and the message went away, so
I presume it's connected somehow to the presence of the incompatible
extension. However I have customized my system to such an extent that I need
to return to the original user profile to be able to work comfortably.

Is there a process for removing such material, or must I bite the bullet,
blow away my entire installation (which is on Xubuntu 14.04.3) and install
version 5 anew from the PPA?

Jim,

I am not an Xubuntu user, but I am using the vanilla LO 5.1.0.3RC3 x64
on PCLinux and Windows 7 with the AltSearch extension version 1.4.1
which is working perfectly for me. I did experience a problem with macro
errors (no crashes) in a previous LO version (4.?), but this was
resolved by removing and reinstalling the extension.

Where did you hear that the extension was incompatible with the 5.x
versions of LO?

Dave

That was my conclusion when it totally quit working after I installed
the version 5 files. Its dropdown lists no longer drop down, nor does
keyboard entry to it produce any detectable action.

When I renamed the user profile folder, forcing Writer to create a new
replacement profile that did not include the extension, the error
message vanished, which I took as confirmation that the extension was
responsible.

However I do have several user-defined macros, and it's remotely
possible that one of them might be disabling the extension in such a way
as to prevent it from functioning although I had no such problems with
version 4. All help files and online documentation seem not yet to cover
version 5 so it's difficult to tell.

Also, I'm quite new to LO, having used Abiword previously but having
finally become fed up with its incompatibilities both with some MS
formats and with the XFCE window manager.

I'm still in need of instructions for removing extensions, other than
"nuke and re-pave," and also would like to know how I can, for instance,
set an option either in a template or in the full Writer program, to
always default autotext to "apply when typing" while still allowing me
to turn it off as desired.

Thanks for the information!

[libreoffice-users] Base - automatically running a macro on form opening

2016-02-03 Thread Egbert Eissing
I need to fire up a macro automatically when I open a form, or when I move to
the next record.
There is obviously no form event that allows me to do that. I have placed a
simple macro, containing nothing but a message box into all relevant event
slots, to see whether any one of them will fire. But none did. This appears to
be strange to me, lacking such an important function.I am now using a button to
run my macro, but this is unsatisfactory.
Does anyone have an idea how I can accomplish my task?Thanks for any help.Egbert
