Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Libreoffice 5.1.1.3 on Windows 7

2016-04-08 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky
Open Computing Language (OpenCL) is a framework for writing programs
that execute across heterogeneous platforms consisting of central
processing units (CPUs), graphics processing units (GPUs), digital
signal processors (DSPs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and
other processors or hardware accelerators.
If OpenCL is active on both, suggest that you are using two differing
GPU and/or CPU drivers. One working correctly and the other not.

My candidates for failure are OpenGL (e.g. 3D rendering) and OpenCL
(something for calculating, I don't know details). But for testing you
should disable that.

Make sure your LO is running well with someother file. In Tools > Options

Load/Save you will find the item "Load user-specific settings with the

document". Disable it.

In Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View you can disable OpenGL.

In Tools > Options > OpenCL you can disable OpenCL.

Restart LO to activate the changes.

Now try again to load a problematic file.

Kind regards

Method 3 - Text to Columns
Select a column of cells
Call Data>Text to Columns...
Choose tab as delimiter and hit [OK]

All 3 methods require that your locale setting matches with the data to
be converted.
($1,2345.98) requires English(USA) because of the $, the comma as
thousands separator and the decimal point.
(£1,2345.98) requires English(UK) because of the £, the comma as
thousands separator and the decimal point.
(€1.2345,98) requires German or French because of the € the point as
thousands separator and the decimal comma.

menu:Tools>Options>LanguageSettings>Locale (second option) determines
the cultual context of all text-to-number conversions.

Better you do not import numeric text in the first place. Wrong dates
(2/3/1999 vs 3/2/1999) and wrong numbers (1.234 vs 1,234) can be very
difficult to convert. Simply check the right locale in the import dialog
together with the "detect special numbers" option.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Calc method to change whole column cell content

2016-04-08 Thread Bruce Hohl
Method 1 - Using Value()
Use value() function to convert a text string into a number or date.
Copy the result; paste special as number or date.
---
Method 2 - Search & Replace
Select (highlight) a cell range then:
Using Search & Replace (Ctrl+H):
Search for = .*
Replace = &
Under Other Options:
Y = Current selection only
Y = Regular expressions
Click Replace All

For the csv file Open Calc then open the CSV file from Calc. You can set
you file associations on Windows, Linux, etc. so CSV files are always
opened by Calc.

Hi,

Have you tried a *System Restore* -- choosing a *Restore Point* date prior
to the occurrence of the *LibreOffice* problem? This procedure would
likely cause *subsequently-installed programs to malfunction* and they
would have to be reinstalled. But the *Windows'* *System Restore* has an
*"Undo"* feature should it *not help*.

Take care.
