Yes, you can enlarge videos in VLC

BTW - you're running an old version; the latest version is 2.2.4

To: "users@global.libreoffice.org"

Hi Folks,

I Googled the query - VLC Media Player - enlarge video - and found...

"There is no zoom feature in VLC Media Player but you can press the
“control” button on the keyboard and then “E” to have the effects
window open. Proceed to the tab for “video effects” and lookout for
the “interactive zoom” icon."

That didn't work in my VLC Media Player.

So, I watched a YouTube video where they advised you click on the
Extended Settings icon and then Video Settings, then Geometry and
click the Interactive zoom but that just creates a small window of
that video in the upper left of the screen.

Has anyone found a zoom solution for version 2.2.1?

Thanks so much.

Charles.

Meanwhile, I'll attempt to explain further,

Thanks for responding, Anne.

I am not at all technical so I really have no idea what you mean by LO
file-loader, or how to go about it.

   [somehow you misread file-folder for file-loader ;-)

the LO file-folder is located ... from 'start' menu, click on,
maybe, 'computer' then scroll up to 'Users' then [your personal ID] then
scroll to 'AppData' then 'Roaming' then 'LibreOffice' ... you'll find
everything there, but coded to use in LO]

I don't have a virus as I have Norton 360 protection so it must be
something to do with a version upgrade. I was asked to allow LO to make
changes just before this happened.

   [with Norton, you may very well have a virus; but let's assume not;

I'm confused though by your statement that LO asked to make changes]

Could you please tell me where I can find a previous version of LO so I can
delete the current version and install the older one? Maybe that will
work.

[if you don't have your previous version still on your machine, then you
probably can find whatever you're wanting to use at the LO site.]

Thanks again.

Greg.

Sounds to me as if you've either uncovered a bug or contracted some
virus,
  therefore, I would suggest:

   (1) if a bug, then revert back to a previous version before this
occured;

   (2) if a virus, then run the various A-V programs until your system
is again clean.

   Meanwhile, go behind-the-scenes to the LO file-folder;
  gather all your data;
save this elsewhere for safe keeping.

   Hoping this helps,

Hi all.
Every time I try and open a document from my Hard Drive to Libre Office I
get the following Error window.
ERROR The requested operation requires elevation.
This has been happening for the last week or so. It coincided with Libre
Office asking to make changes to my computer whenever I tried to start the
program and it won't start unless I say 'YES'.
Any document that is in the 'recent documents' option in the program itself
will open, but nothing else.
I have deleted and re-installed Libre Office and still no difference.
Can anyone help and let me know how to fix this issue? I have many
extremely important business documents I can no longer access.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Greg.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Using unicode fully in LibreOffice

2016-07-13 Thread V Stuart Foote
No, No, No! Wrong ML, this belongs on Design and UX-Advise.

Otherwise, your proposed handling of Unicode is totally out of scope for the
project, and frankly is ill-conceived.

But, with "then plan drawn up... and perfected" if your coding skills are of
equal quality (or you have deep pockets to fund it) you are of course
welcome to check out the project's git repo and proceed.

Good luck.

Stuart

[libreoffice-users] Using unicode fully in LibreOffice

2016-07-13 Thread Samiur Rahman
Although unicode has been developed, we don't make full use of it.

This will allow us to more fully use unicode. The plan drawn up by me and
perfected throughout the past 2 weeks comprises of 6 suggestions:

1. Implement two toolbar boxes "choose language or script" (ie. choose
unicode range) and a box that says "choose font" that presents all fonts
and unicode fonts that support that range
2. Include all “free” unicode fonts in the office app
3. Sort out which fonts and unicode fonts support which unicode ranges to
implement suggestion 1
4. Implement a font-installing feature in office apps that allows users to
install fonts under the two boxes
5. Create a website called “Wiki-unicode” that presents all specialized and
non-specialized unicode fonts and their lincense and price
6. Refer users to the use of the former website in the software

Adding a manual page break at some point in the text will not create
a blank page. But if you already had your four pages of front matter
separated from the body of your document by an existing page break -
as seems obvious - then adding a new page break will make two breaks
and yes: an intervening empty page. You just need to remove the
existing page break, which you can do easily with a single Backspace
either before or after you add the new one, to achieve what you need.

All this worked fine.

Good-oh!

[libreoffice-users] Re: zero page number

2016-07-13 Thread James Wilde
Hm. My original post was via Nabble as I don't save posts to the users
forum and Nabble doesn't want to quote Brian properly so I'm trying to
post this by replying to the copy of Brian's email which I received and
adding the users forum.

First and most important, thanks, Brian for your answer. It seemed easy
but it wasn't for various reasons. One is that the original document is
on my wife's computer where Libreoffice is the Swedish version, and
Swedish translations of interface terms aren't always intuitive! As a
consequence I originally added Sections instead of Styles (before
getting your reply).

Now I have taken a new copy of the original document from Scrivener and
moved it to my computer, where Libreoffice is the English version.

Remaining comments inline below.

I didn't understand that inserting a manual break would not only divide
the document into two regions but add a blank page. So I now had five
pages of front matter, but I managed to remove one of them. One thing I
would like to know: supposing I needed to do this again between two
sections of the content pages, but didn't want a blank page between them
- not very likely, I know, but anyhow - how could I do that?

All this worked fine. So once again, thanks, Brian.
