Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress can't print to Postscript

2017-05-22 Thread jorge
Hi Tedc:

I did the similar process with a document with my printer HP-3050, and
it work well. At least in my printer I have some levels of Postscript to
select.

The problem would be in your printer driver capacities. I use Ubuntu
14.04 LTS with Cups and HPlip (Both in the repositories of Ubuntu)

Process that I did: Select Print in LibreOffice, then there select
Properties, there you can find Divice Option, and there you can select
Type of language of printer: Select Postscript. Then select Print to
File Option in Option Topic out of Properties ( In the main window ).

I hope this help,

Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress can't handle eps images

2017-05-22 Thread anne-ology
   So sorry you're having problems;

My suggestion though would be to convert these .eps images to an
updated image,
  (1) before you discover these have allowed some hacker into your
machine;
  (2) to become more compatible with those to whom you transfer
data -
[Adobe is an old program, which even MsFt's software no
longer acknowledges as safe]
  (3) checking .eps on-line, I discovered no software - other than
converters - recognize this anymore.

   Hoping this helps,
although I'm sorry it's not what you were hoping to hear,

Using LibreOffice 5.0.6.2 under CentOS 7.x. Impress can't handle eps
images--output pdf contains only completely unreadable low res bitmaps. I
haven't tried Writer yet, but wouldn't be surprised if the same problem
happens. This is a huge fail, makes LO totally useless for me and many
others. Almost all of my writing is scientific/technical, and the graphics I
insert into documents are almost exclusively eps. I have written literally
hundreds of documents that contain thousands of eps figures. Converting
those to bitmaps is a non-starter, not least because of the inherent
limitations of bitmaps. This has been a known problem with LO since about
version 4.2, and several fixes and workarounds have been discussed but so
far nothing has been done that addresses users' needs. Users already have
their own projects and need software that works, not another project.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress can't print to Postscript

2017-05-22 Thread Girvin Herr

Greetings,

This sounds to me to be less of a "fail" than a limitation, unless LO
advertises that Impress will write a PostScript file format. Then it
could be called a "fail" and should have a bug report submitted on it.

To get you going if you really must have PostScript, you might try
pstoedit, a vector file format converter. http://www.pstoedit.net/ It
may convert (external to LO) a PDF file to a PS file for you. I use it
to convert a PostScript CAD drawing for printing to a DXF CAD drawing
for editing in LibreCAD and it works fine for that. There may be other
converters out there.
