notepad -> Copy that section from notepad -> move to Writer -> paste
that section into writer

Re: [libreoffice-users] Unable to access offline help in 6.1

2018-08-08 Thread Graham Luffrum
Hi, if this is the first time you've installed LO on this particular
machine, it isn't a bug but an annoyance. Open LO and then go to Tools ->
Options -> Language Settings -> Languages and check that the settings there
are set to English (UK). This should then bring up the internal help.

ah, the paper age vs. the computer age ;-)

Although the computer's HD - even the external HDs - can wear out,
the document itself can't;
just be sure you have this - & all others - saved, so if one
begins to fail, you're still able to continue functioning as before.

To: LibreOffice Users

I have a to-do list in Writer that I update and save at least once a
day. I've had the same document for several months, and have probably
revised and saved it 250 times.

I have had no problem at all with it, but I'm wondering if a document
that has been used and abused that often may be prone to corruption or
damage? Should I consider cut-and-pasting the information into a blank
document on a regular schedule? Or just do the whole thing over from
scratch, also on a regular schedule?

I'm not sure I've *ever* had a LibreOffice document (Writer or Calc)
fail on me, but I'm certain I've never put one through the grinder at
this pace.

Thanks.

Depending on whether you attempted the extension installation for all
users, or just for a specific user, you may need to start it with admin
rights, or as the superuser (OS dependent).

You will need to run it from a terminal.

Alternatively, you can forcibly remove extensions via a file manager of
your choice by deleting the corresponding extension folder in the
application's /resources/extensions folder or else in the user's profile
under

/LibreOffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache
and searching through the obscured name folders to find the one
corresponding to your extension.

I think some of the new features are things that have been asked
about quite recently- and might mean we have better answers for
those questions now.

Be wary though !! This is the .0 release and it's only just been
releasedtoday so this is THE point at which the most unexpected and
unlikely breakages of functionality may occur ! It is also the
BEST time to try out he new version AWAY from your regular install
preferably on a system you don't rely on for work or in a sandboxed
area (Gnu has MANY different ways of creating safe-areas to
try things out in).

It is THE time that the most devs are focusing on this new release
so it's the best time to find bugs or features that have gone wonky
and post bug-reports about them.

This is also a good time to join the QA Team to help them with
filing tasks, and perhaps asking bug-reporters for relevant
information that might help the devs handle their request and
generally help with first responses.

Good luck and regards from
a Tom :)

Hi :)
I'm really glad about the improved image handling. Has anyone tried that
feature yet? There have been all sorts of problems with images over the
years so i'm really glad of the work that has gone into that :))

I don't get hugely excited about icons, unless they are really unclear.
These are clear so it's a big (but unexcited) thumbs up from me :)

Further testing revealed it was only Seamonkey on OpenSUSE Leap 15.0.

Hi Steve,

Yes, documents before and since have all printed without hitches, and
the correct printer is assigned. This is, to the best of my memory
going back to OpenOffice 3.x, the only problem document I've ever had.
Anyway, LibreOffice allowed me to convert to .pdf and I could print
that one, so the "crisis" (e.g. a couple of hours of cut-'n-paste) has
been averted.

Just out of my curiosity and as a possible help to others, I'm still
wondering what could have gone wrong. It's all very strange.

I think some of the new features are things that have been asked about
quite recently- and might mean we have better answers for those
 questions
 now.

Be wary though !! This is the .0 release and it's only just been
releasedtoday so this is THE point at which the most unexpected and
unlikely breakages of functionality may occur ! It is also the BEST
 time
to try out he new version AWAY from your regular install preferably on a
system you don't rely on for work or in a sandboxed area (Gnu has
MANY different ways of creating safe-areas to try things out in).

It is THE time that the most devs are focusing on this new release so
 it's
the best time to find bugs or features that have gone wonky and post
 bug-reports about them.

This is also a good time to join the QA Team to help them with
 filing
tasks, and perhaps asking bug-reporters for relevant information that
 might
help the devs handle their request and generally help with first
 responses.

 Good luck and regards from
 a Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] New features in 6.1.0 Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Text for "New Features" page for translation, after LO 6.1 release

2018-08-08 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky

FYI

11:08 AM EST

YouTube video is not displaying.

Results in message "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting
your device" in Firefox.

Interestingly enough, if you move your cursor over the time line, it
display image from video.

Hope this helps.

I think some of the new features are things that have been asked about
quite recently- and might mean we have better answers for those questions

Be wary though !! This is the .0 release and it's only just been
releasedtoday so this is THE point at which the most unexpected and
unlikely breakages of functionality may occur ! It is also the BEST time
to try out he new version AWAY from your regular install preferably on a

It is THE time that the most devs are focusing on this new release so it's
the best time to find bugs or features that have gone wonky and post
bug-reports about them.

This is also a good time to join the QA Team to help them with filing
tasks, and perhaps asking bug-reporters for relevant information that might
help the devs handle their request and generally help with first
responses.

Good luck and regards from
a Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] New features in 6.1.0 Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Text for "New Features" page for translation, after LO 6.1 release

2018-08-08 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Mike Saunders and the rest of the marketing team (and translators) have
made a video showing the new features in LibreOffice 6.1.0.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvoCpnwGNFU

I think some of the new features are things that have been asked about
quite recently- and might mean we have better answers for those questions
now.

Be wary though !! This is the .0 release and it's only just been
releasedtoday so this is THE point at which the most unexpected and
unlikely breakages of functionality may occur ! It is also the BEST time
to try out he new version AWAY from your regular install preferably on a
system you don't rely on for work or in a sandboxed area (Gnu has
MANY different ways of creating safe-areas to try things out in).

It is THE time that the most devs are focusing on this new release so it's
the best time to find bugs or features that have gone wonky and post
bug-reports about them.

This is also a good time to join the QA Team to help them with filing
tasks, and perhaps asking bug-reporters for relevant information that might
help the devs handle their request and generally help with first
responses.

Good luck and regards from
a Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] Re: Removing an extension

2018-08-08 Thread Alexander Thurgood

Hi Steve,

The unopkg command is your friend here.
