Re: [libreoffice-users] Graphics with Libre Draw or Writer

2020-09-21 Thread Remy Gauthier
Hi,

In the Drawing Toolbar of Draw, there is something called the
"Explosion" in the "Stars and Banners" which you can use as starburst.
For the thought baloon, there is a "Cloud" in the Callouts. You can
access those from the toolbar or from Shape > Insert > Callouts >
Cloud; and Shape > Insert > Stars and Banners > Explosion. There are
also some shapes you can use in the Gallery (View > Gallery) in the
Shapes theme.

I hope this helps.
Rémy.

Ctrl+hyphen, R, Enter?

FWIW, on my system, CTRL+hyphen pops up a Delete
Cells dialog, R does nothing and Enter causes
the dialog to close while executing the first
action - Shift cells up. LO 6.2.7.1

That's odd. Figure 36 in the Calc Guide 6.2 shows
the Delete cells dialogue with the first letter
of "rows" in "Delete entire row(s)" underlined.
This means that pressing "R" *should* move the
selection to this option. (Figure 16 in Calc Guide 6.4 shows the same.)

Well the diagram in the book also has the buttons at the bottom in a
different order. Either they used a different version of the software,
or maybe a different desktop environment. The joy of linux :)

But no, there are no underlines on the selections in [my] real life.

[libreoffice-users] Graphics with Libre Draw or Writer

2020-09-21 Thread charles meyer
My esteemed listmates,

I need to work on graphics on my personal laptop which does not have MS
Publisher on it. I can't work on graphics online so Office 365 is not an
option.

I thought I might use Libre Draw (sometimes Writer is good like
changing background colors) as a substitute for MS Publisher but it seems
to have its own methods/learning curve.

I don't see where you find Starbursts or thought balloons like one can in
Publisher. Is that possible in Draw?

Has anyone found a comparison chart of how to do a function in MS Publisher
-vs- how to do that same function in Libre Draw?

I've Googled it and not found any.

After the wordprocessor battles were won by MS, MS released a chart for
former WordPerfect users displaying you how you used to do a function in
WordPerfect and how you do that same function in Word. Anything like that
for Draw?

Or maybe there's a free (cheap), easy to learn and use (not GIMP) graphic
program you've found as a viable substitute for MS Publisher?

Scribus is free but has an equivalent learning curve to GIMP - and if you
don't use GIMP regularly it's onerous to recall how to do tasks.

Thank you!

Charles.

Re: [libreoffice-users] [Calc] Keyboard shortcut to delete current row when focus on one of its cells?

2020-09-21 Thread Remy Gauthier
Hi,
You need to add a new keyboard shortcut. To add, go Tools >
Customize... > Keyboard tab. In the bottom portion of the panel, select
the Edit Category, and then the "Delete Rows" line in the Function
list. Then highlight a suitable keyboard shortcut in the Shortcut Keys
area (maybe Ctrl+Delete), and press Modify. This will assign the
"Delete Rows" tothe shortcut key you selected.
I hope this helps.Rémy.

Anyway, I would just make a macro and then create a shortcut to start that

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but as I said in response to Regina
and others later in this thread: "Today I started the computers
(Win 10-2004 x64 & Linux Kernel 5.8 x64) running LO 7.0.1.2, opened the
odt file and the relative links worked perfectly." I am unable to
discover or explain why it did not work initially.

My issue now is to find a way to get those relative links working in an
exported PDF copy of the file. I have tried several different export
options, but clicking the links in the PDF file always returns the "File
 not found" error.

Best Regards
Dave

PS. I am subscribed to the list so the cc isn't necessary. ;)

2. Category = Edit, Function = Delete Rows
3. Shortcut Keys = CTRL+Del

What version of LibreOffice are you using, and what is the exact wording
of the error message? At least with recent versions of LibreOffice, the
wording of the error message when clicking the link should be:
"'file://abc.xyz/' cannot be passed to an external application to open

And note that is not a relative URL, it is an absolute
file URL with an "abc.xyz" authority, which is interpreted by
LibreOffice at least on Windows to denote the root directory of some
(most likely non-existing) abc.xyz UNC share.
