I run Xubuntu 22.04.3 LTS.

I updated from the link sent out from LO announcing V 7.6.2.

The 7.6 install went to /opt/libreoffice7.6, with the soffice binary
links in /usr/local/bin:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Sep 29 19:38 /usr/local/bin/libreoffice ->
/usr/local/bin/libreoffice7.6
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35 Sep 29 19:39 /usr/local/bin/libreoffice7.6
-> /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/soffice

I did leave 7.5 installed at the time I ran into this issue.

I never use the main menu links to Office -> LibreOffice... - I mostly
use a keyboard shortcut which maps to /usr/local/bin/libreoffice,
which I keep up to date on the link destination.

I use Thunar's Properties links in the file details to adjust between
minor revision levels of LO files (and Word/Excel/PowerPoint files) as
needed - every minor or major revision change.

I did solve the issue by re-verifying the links to make sure they were
correct (one was not), uninstalling 7.4 and 7.5 with Synaptic, and
logout-login.

All is well. I must have slipped up somewhere along the way.

Thanks to all who responded - much help.

Best wishes,

Mark

[libreoffice-users] Address from Evolution Address Book defined but not displayed

2023-09-30 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky

Version: 7.5.7.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 47eb0cf7efbacdee9b19ae25d6752381ede23126
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

When using: Templates: Address Book Assignment from the Book Source...> menus, the Field Assignment table is missing a second
street address for personal or business addresses.

The Field Assignments do have a single "Street" to allocate
"addr_line1", but not "Street 2" to allocate "addr_line2"

This suggests what happens next.

When importing address information from Evolution Email Client Address
Book, "addr_line2" and "work_addr_line2" field headers display, but
fields are empty.

Please confirm this is true.

Thank you

Aguador, can you please link me the API documentation to convert 5 pages of PDF
to PNG, one by one, or together in one go.

Given 5 pages of PDF, LibreOffice API converts only first page to PNG.
LibreOffice API, do not have any Page Exacter or indexer where [i]th page of
one file containing 5 pages of PDF can be extracted.

>

Why are you top-posting a new post instead of responding to what
aguador wrote? Please learn email etiquette (and bug reporting
etiquette!)

And why are you ignoring the suggestion, given that is what is already
posted as a workaround in the bug report you linked to? If it won't
work for you, you need to explain why.

Dave, Aguador: CC’ing the person who responded with a textual workaround which
seems to be inefficient and is non documented in LibreOffice API for further
explanation or a link to API endpoint.

Dave: Can you please link me to LibreOffice API documentation to convert a
multi-page text file to single page or multi-page PNG. If it’s not possible, do
you think there should be proper documentation for the same.

Devs, maintainers: One workaround to convert a multi-page text file to PNG is
to extract each page text and store into buffer streams (JAVA programming
language concept) and then write that text as PNG. For a huge file, or a
on-the-fly stream of files, say, 10KB to 100KB, this process, would be highly
inefficient, if not done by LibreOffice API using machines System calls.

Folks: is there any documentation to convert a multi-page text to PNG in
LibreOffice API? In other words, is there any such API end point for the same.

It would be great, if we can document this behaviour of LibreOffice API of
Converting only first page of multi-page text file to PNG and NOT converting
ALL pages.

Thanks so much!

Re: [libreoffice-users] shrink size and font size of styles sidebar

2023-09-30 Thread Philip Jackson

Curious.  I was happy to have discovered this setting as a result of this
thread. So I set it to 'false' way back in March. I frequently change the
style's side bar width by dragging it and the MinimumWidth setting has stayed
at 'false'.

It just seems to have happened today. I haven't re-installed LO or anything

What causes the value to change? How can I keep it from happening?

The Sidebar Deck can now be dragged as narrow as needed before it will collapse
to show just the deck TAB Bar

How do I shrink the styles sidebar? Zoom works lovely on the main window--I used
"optimal" most of the time, but that doesn't help if I can't shrink the styles
sidebar.

I can drag to make it bigger but not to make it smaller than a certain size.
And I can't find anywhere to change the font size. So, for example, if I need
to shrink the entire Writer window down to share screen space I end up with the
styles sidebar taking up half the window with large type even when the main doc
window type is so small it's hardly readable.

There must be some way to do this. I just can't find it.

Thanks.

My problem now is that the minimumwidth setting keeps (randomly, as far

it to false.

So does anyone know why that would happen, how I can get it to stay at
"false"? It's not like I re-installed or even updated LO when it
happens. I've got LO 7.4.6.2, build

Sorry you're having issues. But can not confirm, the value [false | true
(default)] set for 'minimumwidth' is retained in profile with 7.6.2
build and current builds of master against 24.2.0 release.

When set the stanza in the registrymodifications.xcu registry setting
will be--
oor:name="MinimumWidth" oor:op="fuse">false

Only deleting that profile .xcu, or doing a profile reset (via UI)
should cause loss of the the value. Otherwise with profile intact--it
would require an intentional edit to toggle the setting back to 'false'.

If you actually see the value changing in an unexplained
fashion--pleasse file a ticket in the project Bugzilla.
