1) Load the menu Office-Base.
2) Drag and Drop the Icon-Menu Base to the desktop
3) Right click on icon Base desktop, find properties and then click there
4) Look there the Order statement
5) Copy the statement order
6) Open a terminal (Console)
7) Paste the statement order Copied before (Right click on the terminal)
8) Type Enter
9) If Base not run ... look the message that appearer in terminal
10) Copy that message and paste in a e-mail to here and probably someone know

Where did you get LO from? Ubuntu repositories? Could be the
standard-installation doesen't install the packages for Base.

Another problem could be there isn't a JRE installed.

So, i have Windows 10 with Anniversary Update and today Windows Defender
quarantined soffice.bin, because it thinks it's a Trojan. Is this a known
issue? Should i report it as a bug? I haven't found anything about this with
google search.

[libreoffice-users] Bugs

2015-08-31 Thread RODRIGUEZ FONSECA JORGE ALBERTO
Hi everybody:

I've seen that certain bugs or issues appear in LibreOffice versions that
before didn't exist. Why ?

I understand that when the programers working in new version "touch" the
code in other parts and get a new bug. I think is very dificult not occur this.

How we can help with this ?

We, the users can make one example to each topic of the menu of LibreOffice
can do. Then when coming new version before out we can probe each example
during one week and make a report to programers. With this reports, just
following the menu, they can fix the bugs that apear before freeing the new
version.

The other way is to make a macro to probe each topic of the menu to do it
automatically.

Jorge Rodríguez

Hi :)
Eliane Domingos de Sousa wanted to wish people in the LibreOffice

never got further than the marketing lists so i am forwarding it to

[2] https://www.dropbox.com/s/bqno217i1ykdiq7/christmas-2013-IT.svg

So, happy christmas all! Something funny i find about all this is
that none of the supposedly Christian people i know of seem to be
making much effort this year but i've had cards from Buhdists, Jews,
Moslems, Hindus and others. To be fair, at Diwali this year i saw
quite a few that probably haven't been Hindus for long either. I
think we should all celebrate each others special days and the more
the better, right? Anyway, happy christmas! :)
Regards from
Tom :)

 Dear members,

I hereby announce the final results of The Document Foundation's Board
of Directors elections 2013. With the challenging phase having ended
without any objection to the preliminary results, the following results
 are now the final ones.

Elected as member are the candidates, in this order: Thorsten Behrens,
Eliane Domingos de Sousa, Michael Meeks, Fridrich Strba, Adam Fyne, Joel
 Madero and Bjoern Michaelsen.
And as deputies: Andreas Mantke, Eike Rathke and Norbert Thiebaud.

I want to say thanks to _all_ those who ran for elections, also the
members that were not elected for the board this time, and
congratulations to those that were elected. By separate mail each one
elected, will be invited to accept the new role as Member (or Deputy) of
 the Board of Directors.

As outlined in the initial announcement [1], the newly elected Board of
Directors will only be in charge from February 18, 2014 on. To help the
transition, the current Board of Directors will include them in the
 decision making process.

On behalf of the Membership Committee,
 Cor Nouws, Chairman

I know and I agree, Miguel. I just don't agree with the logic don't ask for

need it anyway.

Why do Linux and Mac people need it more than Windows people? Do they work
with files larger than 4Gb? Isn't the cost per developer hour the same? If
there is no advantage why do developers bother at all?

 Hello everyone,

Thank you for choosing and using LibreOffice!

My name is Charles-H. Schulz and I'm one of the co-founders of the
Document Foundation. Many people who contribute to the LibreOffice
project discussed the need for us to understand how we could enroll
regular users (whatever that means) to the LibreOffice project.

You obviously know that LibreOffice is Free Software and that it comes
with rights and freedoms for you. But besides that LibreOffice is a
software development project populated by a community of people who
contribute their time and skills (and many skills are required, not
just the technical ones!) on a volunteer or on a paid basis.

But when we come to think of it, these people started somewhere, one
day, to contribute, and while they all have their own reasons, we (the
people in charge of marketing) thought that everybody has the ability
to contribute. The question is: how can we make it 1)interesting 2)
accessible 3)easy to understand what the various tasks are 4)possible
to spread the word about it?

... And this is where you come in the picture. We worked on a short
survey that's anonymous (we don't require your name nor your email) and
we would really like it if you could take a few minutes of your time to
answer these questions. As you will see they are all about
understanding how we could include users of LibreOffice and turn them
into contributors. The survey is here:
 https://survey.documentfoundation.org/index.php/574531/lang-en

We hope you're having a great time and thank you again for using
 LibreOffice!

 Best regards,

I went to do the survey, didn't complete it. From going through the
pages, too many places didn't allow me to provide feedback on my
interests as well as concerns before becoming involved. On a couple
of pages, I would like to have selected more than one.

IMO, surveys such as this are essentially slanted, and could give you
the answers you want to hear, not the ones you should hear.

Lastly, after clicking the Exit and Clear survey button, in the
following window, the close this window button did not work, even in
 Safe Mode for Firefox.

I agree about the survey. The multiple-choice type answers did not
reflect my answers. However, I had no trouble closing the window
without completing the survey.

There is no bug - but two mistakes. As you know, if you omit the
optional fourth parameter in the VLOOKUP() function, the data is
assumed to be sorted. But as the help text makes clear, a value is
always returned in this case - corresponding to the the last value
smaller than the criterion. In your case, Ala is next before Cart
and Here is next before Lim. To prevent this, you need to add
FALSE or 0 as the fourth parameter to VLOOKUP().

Second, there is no magic process by which Calc will guess that you
wish for a zero value when no match is found: there is simply no value
to return! The value #N/A will be returned instead. If you want zero
values here, you need to test for this error value and replace it with
zero. You can do this using the ISNA() function, using something like:

 =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(Xn;array;2;0));0;VLOOKUP(Xn;array;2;0))

or, more simply, (new in LO 4):
=IFNA(VLOOKUP(Xn;array;2;0);0)

 I trust this helps.

Between myself, Tim Lungstrom, and Marc Pare, we have created a set of
new LibreOffice Tri-fold Brochures with the new half-circle themed design.

There are two versions, Letter size paper and A4 size paper.

The ODT version are now on the wiki page for download, under the name of
LibreOffice 4.0 brochure.

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Gallery_Flyers

So download the brochure and take a look. You just might like it.

Edit it to you specific needs. That is why the Write file is these
instead of the PDF version.

Asunto: [libreoffice-users] A Tale of Two Office Suites

I may be way out of line here, but I’m sending this post to the user lists
for both LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice. I have both programs on my
computer and regularly use both. Like many of you out there, I have
subscribed to both user lists.

I don’t know the full history behind the Libre/Oracle split, but from what I
have read on various forums and lists, there is considerable emotional pain
resulting from the split. The result is two different FOSS office suites.

Some have pleaded for the two to combine forces. Others have noted that the
competition is good for the end user as it results in more rapid development
of improvements to both suites.

I see both sides, but I’d like to point out one thing I have noticed in my
own use of the two programs. Some computer programs are what I would call
“load and use.” Programs like web browsers and mail clients, etc., require
little to no configuration or customization. One can simply do productive
use without much thought. I can easily bounce back and forth between
Internet Explorer and Firefox, Live Mail and Thunderbird.

Not so with office suites. To get the most out of my office suites, I create
and edit templates, page, character and paragraph styles. I have to set the
autocorrect functions of each program to my liking to prevent a (c) from
turning into a ©. While it’s not essential, I tend to customize my toolbars
and have created helpful macros. Effectively using an office suite requires
a commitment akin to a marriage.

For this reason, bouncing back and forth between two suites is
counterproductive. I find myself importing and exporting settings, styles,
and templates between the two programs rather than simply doing my work.

Why do I put up with this inconvenience? Because each program has essential
virtues over the other.

For example, if I need to properly hyphenate my US English, I use
LibreOffice as (to date), OpenOffice fails to properly hyphenate US English.

But, if I need to create mailing lists, as I just did for Christmas cards, I
use OpenOffice as its Avery 5160 template is more properly aligned than that
found in LibreOffice.

LibreOffice remembers my hierarchical stylelist setting, whereas OpenOffice
does not, but OpenOffice more effectively supports the advanced Graphite
features of the Linux Libertine font.

So, depending on my specific needs, I bounce back and forth. I’m sure many
would suggest that I help out by reporting bugs. I have done so, but even I
get lost keeping track of the bugs of each program that I am most interested
in following.

I suspect this situation will only get worse as each program develops
features that will be lacking in the other. And, while I’m not a developer,
my guess is that both programs are so complex that keeping up with each
other will become an increasingly elusive effort. And, the time will come
when decisions will be made NOT to implement features found in the other
program.

I truly like the motivation generated with competition, and sometimes having
multiple programs on my computer to meet specialized needs can be helpful.
But, in the world of office suites, where user commitment is essential to
effective use, it would be very helpful to us end users if TDF and Apache
could somehow overcome their differences and join forces to give us one
glorious office suites rather than two almost glorious office suites.

These are just my thoughts.

I’d be curious as to how many others are using both programs because of
advantages of each over the other.

Virgil

[libreoffice-users] [Writer] language tool

2012-11-12 Thread Alberto Luccaroni
I use LibreOffice 3.4.3 (italian version) on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

In Writer, in the bottom status bar, it's possible to set the language used
by user when writing a document.

- On click, a small menu appears, but unfortunatly it doesn't remember
recent languages used: I suggest to develop a menu where recent used
languages appear first.
- Clicking on extra, a window opens... with font options! This link is
wrong. I suggest to correct it to the writer languages options window .
- Clicking on tools language for all text appears the same small menu
described above, that still doesn't remember recent languages used: I
suggest to develop a menu where recent used languages appear first.
- Clicking on extra I finally find the correct writer languages options
window.

I will name them, the ones on my mind now is PVIF and FVIF. they are quite
easy. I would also add ones that are not in excel but we could beat excel at
that. we could have the most comprehensive group of formulas and functions.

For what it's worth, these two functions do not appear to exist in Excel,
in fact. At least, as evidenced by their web site, Microsoft seem to have
 no knowledge of them!

well then, being that there's a lot of financial formulas we can make a
extension of them. I'm not a programmer, but I can say which are the most
used and how they are used, so that we as a community can beat excel at
formulas. If theres someone willing to help the cause I am available.

2011-10-23 Thread Alberto Sanchez
that's the right formula. those were easy one, but I accepted that I may
have been wrong, I saw those formulas on excel but maybe it was an
extension, cause it did work as a function. My interest now is just adding
formulas like these ones to the suite.

 PVIF(i;n) should equal 1/(1+i)^n
 and
 FVIF(i;n) should equal (1+i)^n

Or do I understand them wrong?

Why do you need functions for them? So I'm really interested in what
functions do you miss. I guess, that there already exist equivalent
 solutions.

 Kind regards

[libreoffice-users] Inconsintent behaviour of libreoffice with master document and python

2011-08-09 Thread Alberto
Hi all,

I see a very strange behaviour behaviour in libreoffice when creating
the pdf from a master document.

Using this:
dispatcher.executeDispatch(frame, .uno:UpdateAll, , 0, ())

In some case I see all the various sub documents loaded and properly
put in the pdf, some other time instead this simply fails and I get
something like:
1
2
3

The fields of the document are actually updated properly (the script
updates some of them and launch a second time the update all).

What puzzles me is that sometimes it works and some others it doesn't.
Like it doesn't like something in one of the sub-documents.
In few cases deleting the master document helped. In some others it
failed anyway :/, and I need to rely on the document, I don't want to
have to delete it every couple of days.

One thing more, I work with libreoffice in headless mode.

Anybody had the same or a similar issue?

Thanks,

I tried to go through them, I also went in the Developer's Guide.
But still no luck :/

I was looking if there is a sort of API documentation or something,
because the one at runtime doesn't explain much :(.
