Re: [libreoffice-users] Spellcheck question

I actually thought that the Preferences / Languages is where that was set, not
tools...

Sure you've set the correct language? Language is a property of a character,
so it can be different for any single word or even on character level.

You can set it with Tools/Languages...

[libreoffice-users] Merging Files

2012-03-05 Thread Dave Reese
I have been using merging in MS Word for printing labels for a museum's
jukeboxes. I cannot figure how to do this using my doc files with Libre Office,
as it wants me to create new files, and much work doing custom layouts in Word.
I do not want to start over, just be able to merge two already created files.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Merging Files

2012-03-05 Thread Dave Reese
I am doing a mail merge, although not a letter or an email. I have been doing
the merger from another .doc file. The template uses multiple fonts with
different spacing for each line. For the jukebox labels, the type has to fit
into boxes to show the phonograph record's artist, and the name of the songs on
each side of the record...

What (type of file) are you merging into your doc file?

Tentatively, you should just be able to change the fields in your doc
file so that LO recognises them as mailmerge fields (I don't think
 it'll automatically recognise them).

This does depend on the details of how you're doing what you're doing
 though.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Merging Files

2012-03-05 Thread Dave Reese
Yes, and I can use spread sheets with the same column headings. Libre Office
did not just let me merge the template I used in MS Word using the same date
sheet in either a .doc file or an .xls file. I was hoping there was a easy
substitution without redifining the fields. I will experiment further in Libre
Office.

I have not merged files in MS since word 6 for DOS, so things may have

is the other a comma separated list of the information to put on the labels?.
 How many labels per page.

I merge performance data (serial number, specifications, test data) from a
spread sheet into a writer document to print certificates using writer. I
have different fonts, formatting and sizes of print. Is this what you are
hoping to do with your labels.
