Hi Leonardo,

No, I'm sure it's not a HW problem, this was working perfectly
before 5.2. My machine is an i5 with 8gb RAM.

What I found is, while the freeze is happening the CPU works at
+90% (soffice.bin process).

Where did you get your LO-Version from? Ubuntu-packages or directly
from LO?
Did you try to rename the user-config-path?
Is in your home-directory at .config/libreoffice/4

I won't get any freeze here. HW here is i3-3220 and 4 GB RAM. System
is OpenSUSE 42.1 64bit rpm Linux.

Hi Robert, I don't really know from which repository I installed LO, but
when I do "dpkg -s libreoffice" I get this:

dpkg -s libreoffice
Package: libreoffice
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: metapackages
Installed-Size: 13
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com>
Architecture: amd64
Version: 1:5.3.0~rc3-0ubuntu1~xenial1.1

So, I think it was from the Ubuntu tepository?.

Regarding the config path, I already checked by deleting it, but the
problem still persists.

[libreoffice-users] Inserting RTF on Template, bug?

2015-06-14 Thread Leonardo M. Ramé
Hi, I'm using LO 4.4.3.2 on Linux and found something that looks like a
bug when inserting the attached rtf file while using the
test_template.ott template (also attached).

If I open LO Writer, then go to Insert - Document... - cabecera.rtf
I get the result you can see in correct.png file.

But, if after opening LO Writer, I open the template test_template.ott
(btw an empty template), then go to Insert - Document -
cabecera.rtf, the tabs on the 1nst line of the rtf are removed,
getting the image shown in wrong.png.

Does anyone know if there's a way to workaround this?. Is this a bug?.

I don't think you can ever describe a template as empty: if it had no
contents or function, you would not be using it.

You are right, this empty template was just an example as clean as
possible for you to test. The real template should contain a custom
header and/or footer.

... then go to Insert - Document - cabecera.rtf, the tabs on the
1st line of the rtf are removed, getting the image shown in wrong.png.

Your template contains a definition of paragraph style P1 including
style:tab-stops /
and later the reference to it:
text:p text:style-name=P1 / .

I'm guessing that this is why the first paragraph of your inserted file
loses its tab stop and inherits the default arrangement of tab stops.

Thanks!. I can't see that style in Styles and Formatting, where is it?.

Does anyone know if there's a way to workaround this?

o Reinsert the missing tab stop? (You can easily copy the tab stop from
a subsequent paragraph - possibly using the Format Paintbrush.)

I can't do that, the purpose of this it to be used in a Libreoffice
headless workflow.

o Construct a new (emptier?) template without the presumably unwanted
paragraph style definition.

This is what I'll do when I figure out where's the offending style.

Is this a bug?

Don't know.

I trust this helps.

Neither can I - but it appears in the content.xml file in the template.

This is what I'll do when I figure out where's the offending style.

If I create a template with header and footer, I don't get any P1 and
the later reference is
text:p text:style-name=Standard / .
Then the document imports correctly.

I can't guess how you are creating P1. Are you inheriting the template
from somewhere?

No, just open LibreOffice Writer, then Save As - Select ODF Text
Document Template (*.ott), assign a name and click Save.

Uncompressed the ott file and no P1 style found.

Then, I added a footer, saved as template, checked again and no P1 style
found.

Then added a PNG image to the footer, checked again and also no P1 style
found.

So, the ott file was fixed.

But, I was still facing the removed tab issue, and found an error in my
Python UNO script (I'm batch processing those documents using UNO
scripting). Fixed my error and everything is rendering as expected.

Thank you very much Brian.

For that matter, does LO support importing FrameMaker files? that

[libreoffice-users] Docx export issues

2013-04-08 Thread Leonardo M . Ramé
Hi, I'm using libreoffice 4.0.2 and I'm receiving complaints from Word
2007 users about wrongly placed images in my documents, but they look
ok in Libreoffice's Write. Are there some guidelines I can follow to
avoid problems between Libreoffice Write and Word .docx documents
containing images?.

 Hi :)
Try using the older Doc instead of the DocX.  DocX is very variable even
between different versions of MS Office and between those different versions
 on different Operating Systems.

Pretty much all Doc files (for MS Office 97, 2000, Xp, 2003) look fine in
just about any word-processor.  It would be helpful if MS Office users could
save as the older format when they want to share with other people too.

Another suggestion for them is to get up-to-date and install LibreOffice
themselves alongside their MS Office as it is far superior in many way.  They
can have both on their machines and that will also allow them to easily read
a much wider range of formats more easily.  Having both LibreOffice and MS
Office on the same machine makes a lot of sense nowadays.  Writer is more of
a proper desktop publishing package than Word and even beats Publisher
 sometimes.

 Regards from
 Tom :)

Thanks Tom, I'll try with the old .doc format.

Regarding your suggestion, I'll ask them if the can install LibreOffice.
