Once the text is in a spreadsheet cell, I have found that Value() will
convert the text to a date value.

[libreoffice-users] Calc problem

2013-04-05 Thread Paul Schwartz
I am using LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 in Ubuntu 12.04. Ever since I changed from
OpenOffice I have noticed that Calc will not allow me to copy a selection
of cells in one row to several other rows. It only allows me to do one cell
to a range in a column.

Does anybody have this problem? Is it a bug that has been discussed
previously? If not, why not?

Thanks

Paul

I had an IMSAI, too. Do you remember 4K RAM boards? Those weren't the smallest

[libreoffice-users] Use of file name in print header for Calc

2012-05-12 Thread Paul Schwartz
In Open Office, the filename was
an option for insertion into the header/footer of the print job. This
has been replaced, in LO, by an option that seems to be a "title". In
old files that I open the filename still appears in the header.

Is there a way to get to the filename in LO?

TIA

Re: [libreoffice-users] Read error on .ods file

Just in case others might have the same problem:

I used OO to save my file in .xls. LO would then open it successfully, and I
could save it back to .ods [which both OO and LO could open].

Thanks for the hints, but I have already done all those things. The default
Archive Manager in Ubuntu 12.04 is fileroller, and from the error messages
generated, it seems to use gzip for the compress/uncompress. I'm beginning to
think that the file may not be compressed. Next is to try gedit directly.

Thanks again, but if I don't make some progress LO will get replaced with OO.

[libreoffice-users] Read error on .ods file

2012-05-07 Thread Paul Schwartz
I recently installed Libre Office [default on a new Ubuntu 12.04 install]. I
have a file that opens fine with Open Office but generates a Read error with
Libre Office.

Any clues on how to solve this problem?

TIA

Paul Schwartz
