[libreoffice-users] Changing time format in Calc header

2013-01-08 Thread Karen DInse
We are using Windows XP, SP3, LibreOffice 3.5.5.3

We have created a Calc spreadsheet and want to show the time in the header.
When we print the sheet, the time shows military time. Is there a way to
change that to show 12 hour time? I know that we would have to enter am or
pm if needed.

Short answer: no. I opened a spreadsheet and added a header to it.
I could not see any way to change the time format either. I know there
is for a text document, but someone forgot to enable this for a Calc
Header or Footer.

You should be able to add the time in the header or footer. First go to Format
--Page. select the Header Tab and click header on (X should appear in box,
the Select Footer Tab and turn on footer. Next go to Edit -- Headers
Footers. You will see three areas (Left, Center and Right). Click your cursor
in the area you want the time to appear. Then below the areas is a line called
custom header or footer depending where you are. The last button is Time.
Click it and you should see the time. You can also add text attributes, Title,
sheet name, page number, pages and date. (See the note). As far as I know it
should be available in your version for Windows. I run Linux and I have
version 3.6.3, 3.6.4 and 4.0 Beta installed on my system. I used to use 3.4
and this worked there. I have not used 3.5.

Hope this helps.

Not that I know of - but there may be a workaround. You can arrange
for a row or rows of a Calc spreadsheet to be repeated on every page
of the printout.

o In a suitable cell in a low-numbered row, enter =NOW()
o Format that cell suitably - perhaps as H:MM AM/PM
o Go to Format | Print Ranges | Edit... .
o Under Rows to repeat, click the Shrink button at the right.
o Click a cell in the required row or drag across cells in the required rows.
o Click the Shrink button again and then click OK.

You will need to update the time before you print on each
occasion. To do this, go to Tools | Cell Contents | Recalculate
(or just press F9).

I trust this helps.
