Hi Sharon,
First I didn't notice you're from the UK, so I wasn't able to advise you
what AutoSpellcheck Dictionary extension to choose and install.
Although it's a US-site, the mentioned pages also offer several(!)
dictionaries for Great Britain English.
Go to:
http://libreoffice-na.us/English-3.4-installs/dictionary.html#english
and have a look at the items that are shown for English (Great Britain).

Good luck,
and let us know if it helped.

http://libreoffice-na.us/English-3.4-installs/dictionary.html#english

There are dictionaries list for American/US English, British English,
Canadian English, Australian English, Oxford English, New Zealand
English, and South African English, on that web page.

There are 4 different British English dictionaries I created with the
kpp in the name of the file. There are
spell-checking/thesaurus/hyphenation dictionaries with 98,000 words,
217K, 390K, and 638K, words in the file's spell checking word list. The
thesaurus part has over 140,000 words and phrases.

So your British English is covered.

Hello everybody

Spellcheck do not work fine.
Linux ubuntu 10.4 with libreoffice 3.5 .
It is the same. I tried to start immediately with the release 3.5 but
the start is the same: to involve users to check the bugs.

Patience and go on.

A few questions:

How did you know about http://libreoffice-na.us/English/dictionary.html ?

Follow this path and tell me what you have in your LO: Format

there is a drop down list. It should contain English (GB) which is what

Just a little curious. What does LO 3.5 have as the Default

It just might be that English is listed as the Default. If so, can you

[libreoffice-users] Re: LibO 3.5.0 Writer - AutoSpellcheck doesn't work for Dutch language

You can try to run LibreOffice with another user account. If that makes a
difference we know where to look.
Good thinking.
There was was no difference with my other user account, but that may very
well have the same settings and the same problem as the other account.
So I set up a new user account, a test-account, in which LO would have
default settings. And behold, AutoSpellcheck works for Dutch language!
But why not in the other accounts?

What does LO 3.5 have as the Default language?
Check Tools Options Language Settings Languages Font
That's Nederlands (Dutch) (so that should be OK).
Dan Lewis wrote:
Does Dutch have the check and abc in front of it indicating LO has the
Dutch dictionary installed?
Ah! It does not! Very good thinking!
How can this be? How did it lose that Dutch dictionary installation?
There's still a Nederlands spelling woordenboek en woordafbrekingsregels
2.0.0 (Dutch spelling dictionary and hyphenation rules) extension in
Extension Manager, just like in the LO-installation with the default
settings in the test-account that I mentioned.
Where should I look for a 'lost' Dutch dictionary?
How can I repair its installation in my regular accounts?

Check when you are using the Dutch dictionary under ToolsSpelling and

Select Options and verify that check spelling as you type is selected.
Dutch is missing as an option for Text language in Spelling and Grammar!
Check spelling as you type is selected.

Dutch not having the check and ABC in front of it seems to be the problem,
as Dan pointed out.
I guess the fact that Dutch is missing as an option for Text language in
Spelling and Grammar is a result of that?

So, again:
Where should I look for the 'lost' Dutch dictionary?
How can I repair its installation in my two regular accounts?
And also quite interesting: Why was the Dutch dictionary lost in LO in my
two regular accounts? What happened with the upgrade to LibO 3.5.0?
