Thanks folks. I think the solution is in the use of fields. I confess I have little understanding of them, and the help resources frankly aren't very helpful. Can someone suggest how I can set up a field where the output is copied to the same field in other places of the document? Hi :) The help-files have fallen into a gap between 2 teams and we still haven't resolved that as both teams are a tad busy. Probably not! What you are describing is clearly the use of cells of a spreadsheet (Calc) document; I think we all know you can do this in a spreadsheet. The questioner is asking instead about automatically copying text between the cells of a table in a text (Writer) document.
