Re: [libreoffice-users] Uninstall ?

2013-07-30 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
You can run 2 versions of LibreOffice alongside each other if you really want
to.  Quite a few people do and they might be able to give you a link to help
with that.

On most machines i uninstall and then reinstall just to make certain but i
believe Cliff is right that the newer install wipes out the previous.

However, i think it might be better to stick with the 4.0.3 because it is more
stable than the 4.1.0.  That 3rd digit is roughly the equivalent of a "service
pack" number.  Generally the higher that 3rd number the more stable the
version.  So the .3 is more stable than the .0.  Of course the 4.1.0 does
introduce new features and greater compatibility with the newer versions of MS
formats currently in use, (the 2010 and 2013 ones) however the introduction of
the newer, improved functionality can mean some unexpected things might
misbehave.  Service Packs are not always perfect themselves, for example the
Sp1 for Xp famously broke quite a lot of stuff.  So, it might be good to update
to the 4.0.4 rather than upgrade to the 4.1.0.

It is your choice and you can always come back to the 4.0.x branch if the 4.1.x
doesn't work out well enough for you.  Many people do keep up with even the
beta-releases without any troubles but many others never upgrade until a branch
reaches x.x.3-5

Regards from
Tom :)

Just install and it will ask you if you want to overwrite the old one or keep
two copies. I usually keep both for a while in case there are problems with
the new one. Each one runs independently of the other.

Hi, my debian knowledge is limited but this issue has been raised in the
past. Can you try:

sudo apt-get remove libreoffice*( is that the right command to
remove everything?)
then do your first part again (the stuff in the ...tar.gz) and see what
you get

What do you end up with? I can't find the previous email but I am sure
someone suggested you don't need to do the 2nd part. And I am almost
positive you don't need to do *.deb

Hi.
If you open a terminal/konsole/command prompt and type libreoffice
--writer and press return, does libreoffice start.

If it does you may just have to add some start items to your menu.

Hi Manfred,

I tried this weekend to reach ask.libreoffice.org, but it was too busy. I
only succeeded to see the solutions you propose today. The 'uninstall'
option in the Anaphraseus menu doesn't seem to work. The 'uninstall' option
in the 'Readme_Eng' file gave the same error message as above. I also
clicked on the 'remove menu' button... surprise surprise, it now seems all
things Anaphraseus are gone.

thanks!

It *seems* to be working here, but that might be because I'm not sure

I, too, get the complaint on closing a document (which I've reported

[libreoffice-users] Uninstall Anaphraseus (LibO 3.6 on Mac)

2012-07-21 Thread Guy Voets
Hi all,

I installed 3.6.0.2 today, and have a problem with the Anaphraseus
extension.
The extension hasn't been working for some time, but now, I get a error
message from LibO:

a Scripting Framework error occurred while executing Basic script
vnd.sun.star.script:LibAnaphrase.Install.removeAnaphraseus
language=Basic&Location=application

Message: The following Basic script could not be found:
library: 'LibAnaphrase'
module: 'Install'
method: 'RemoveAnaphraseus'
location: 'application'

This window now appears every time I close a document...
How to get rid of Anaphraseus (it doesn't work anyway because pf some
conflict with Google Translate or such).

BTW: Anaphraseus is kind of a clone of WordFast (for MSWord), a CAT tool.

Hi Jean,

If I remember well, you are using Ubuntu 10.04. So to uninstall LO 3.4,
if you installed the version from LO website (instead of Ubuntu PPA
repository), the easiest way I know to select all related packages in
Synaptic is to find the package "ure" for libreoffice. For LibreOffice

libreoffice3.4-debian-menus or something like that.

3.5 should install over the top of 3.4. You seem to be using Linux, but
IDK what distro. Your package manager should take care of things for
you.

Even if you compile and install by hand, you probably only need to issue
a "make uninstall" command, so long as you've not deleted the relevant
files from the source directory on your machine.

I forget your OS. In Windows you should be able to use the Windows
program manager to uninstall. For Linux users, you can use CLI commands
or your package manager to uninstall the old version; you need to check
with you distro for the commands/package manager.

+1 (real cents)

The installer should give this option initially. Dont you think? In any case
the question appeared on the user local list and is already resolved. I
appreciate the help.

I don't use LibO on Windows, but afaik you have to run a "repair

This thing wouldn't be necessary if a bunch of extensions weren't
installed (and locked) in the first place. I, for one, would appreciate
this... er... "feature" to be discarded in the future.

... in other words:
- go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
- select "LibreOfice 3.3" and "Modify"
- the installer will offer you the options "Modify", "Repair", "Remove"
- select "Modify"
- go to "Optional Components"...
- deselect the dictionaries and extensions you don't need.

I don't use LibO on Windows, but afaik you have to run a "repair installation"
(when you have LibO already installed) and choose then "Custom installation"
(or something similar - I don't have an english installation here). In one of
the next steps you can unselect all the extensions, that you don't want/need.
