Thanks. I can speak only for doing it in UBUNTU. Here is how: 1. Launch Writer. 2. A writer icon appears on your desktop. 3. Right click on the icon. 4. Click on ADD TO FAVORITES Close Writer, the icon should be on your desktop. That works for me.
