 I don't have any particular axe to grind, but putting a favicon.ico in the

 question comes up regularly.

 Wouldn't happen. Take a look at the modern rendition of 'it worked'.

 htmlbodyh1It works!/h1/body/html

 The arbitrary user installs a server, why should that be branded to
 browsers as the ASF? It is that person's server.

 I suppose you could make a case for a transparent empty icon, though.

[users@httpd] Apache 2.2.1 does not want to run on my machine

2011-10-15 Thread Guillaume

Hello,
I hope that I'm on the right forum and that my question has sense.
I m not at all a specialist and please forgive my english, it's not my
language.

I'm trying to use the program Wordpress on local.
On that purpose I've tried to install Xamp, then Wamp, then EasyPHP.
I had everytime the same problem with Apache 2.2.1 which was included in
the three packages.
I ve spent one week talking to the Wamp support who was not able to find
why Apache doesn't want to run on my PC.

I'm working under Windows XP media Center 2007.
 Last time, I ve tried with EasyPHP and found this notice

 Checked it or changed it? Did you clear your browser cache?

 You can change the default by editing it.

And then restarting your server.

Very odd.

Did you try disabling the windows equivalent to selinux? Perhaps it's interfering with the socket
creation.

[users@httpd] web site unaccesible online

2011-10-15 Thread Bill Miller

I'm new to web servers so this is all greek to me.
My web site works ok from the computer I have the server on, but when
I inquire on my domain (www.thepictureshow.net ) from a computer away from
home or
on my other computer on the home network it just times out because the web
site took too long to
respond.
Port 80 is not blocked by my ISP and I have it open on my router.
Apache is running.
I have an error from the instalation which is:
httpd.exe: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain
name, using 192.168.1.102 for ServerName
httpd.exe: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain
name, using 192.168.1.102 for ServerName
Could this be the problem?

This is the entry from the install.log:

Installing Apache HTTP 2.0 server with
 DomainName =thepictureshow.net
 ServerName =www.thepictureshow.net
 ServerAdmin =   webmasterb...@comcast.net
 ServerPort =80
 ServerSslPort = 80
 ServerRoot =I:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2

Also with IE9 the message Internet Explorer can not display the webpage.
When I click on the Diagnose Connection Problems I get the message that
website(www.thepictureshow.net) is online but is'nt
responding to connection attempts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bill,

(My response bounced, and I hope this one will make it this time).

You probably need to make that hostname resolve to the internal IP of
your server, since going out then back in won't route in most
residential grade routers.
