Re: Recommendation request for modem for SMS with Kannel

2010-01-08 Thread Rory Campbell-Lange
Hi Tshimanga

On 08/01/10, Tshimanga Minkoka (tshimanga.mink...@vodacom.cd) wrote:
We have used intensively USB 3G Huawei E220 modems.
From memory I think that the best throughput had been 1 SMS every 3

As advised by Alvaro, you can set up several modems to get a greater
 throughput.

Besides, note that under RHEL, you will need some manual works with
kernel modules to have the modem recognized by RHEL and the device node
created as /dev/ttyUSBX. Or have a look and give a try to
 http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/bb/viewtopic.php?t=295
From Fedora 10, it works fine.

Thanks very much for your note. In fact I commonly use the Huawei E220
on my Debian laptops for net access. They work fine. I will now test it
with Kannel.

Thanks very much for your advice. I will consider the practicalities of
setting up several modems.

Kind regards
Rory

status.xml reporting still online

2010-01-08 Thread Beatrice Tamburrino
Hello

I'm having some problems with the status.xml file.

I wrote a script, which gets the status.xml information, and checks if the
gateway is online, also I have the different SMSC connection which I want to
monitor. To test an interrupt to a (working ) emi connection I just unplugged
the networkcable. when I refresh the status.xml, the connection is still
online. Also there are two different behaviours:

- with version 1.4.1 (which I am using on a customer)

Also,

In the latest CVS, there were some additional changes to admin
display. Basically at counters where dlr counters are separated from
MO counters. The modifications were provided by Akejandro Guerreri.

In addition, in the contrib folder there is a monitor script that will
allow you to display the status page in a more friendly way. There you
also have an updated?? xml parser you can use directly.

Check the mailing list for details.

I'll recommend to use CVS. In terms of reliability its the same as
official 1.4.3

As said in my mail. there were some modif in the status page after 1.4.3

In any case, check change log for changes and/or compatibility
breakers since from 1.4.1 there were a lot of changes.

discard queued messages

2010-01-08 Thread Beatrice Tamburrino
hi

is it true, that with the parameter:

- sms-resend-freq
- sms-resend-retry

I can define, how long the messages should be queued on Kannel side?

e.g.: SMSC is not reachable, 3 messages are queued on Kannel. set configuration
sms-resend-freq = 10 and sms-resend-retry=2, so that kannel first try to send,
but SMSC still not there, so wait 10 seconds than try again, still no response,
than kannel deletes them from kannel.

did I understand something wrong?

thanks for any help

Yes. Right a script to parse the bearerbox log as a stream and update your
DB. Anytime an SMPP smsc doesn't repond to an enquire PDU, it will show as
an error.

ok thank you.

so I can go with the status.xml of 1.4.3?

Is there a possibility to retrieve the link of a SMSC? It seemst that the
link is always online, but the sent request are going to queued. But my
application needs to now before send a request, if the link is ok or not..

Hi,

You should really upgrade to 1.4.3 or best to latest CVS. 1.4.1 is
seriously
outdated (5 yrs?) and not actively supported (all patches are against CVS
head)

 sorry didnt' finished yet:

 - with version 1.4.1 (which I am using on a customer)

the status is always online (on every refresh done), not until I send a
request (sendsms?.) then I get the re-connect parameter, but the
sent
sms are not incremented in the queued option

 - with version 1.4.3.

the status us alway online but when I send some request, the messages
are
put in the queued option. with this version I never get the
 re-connect

 information

this is a problem, because I have customers with the version 1.4.1. And
I
need to implement this additional feature. Without the right
information,
I don't know which information to parse with my xml parser...

Is this a bug or is it intentionally??
 any idea?

 thanks

 Betreff: status.xml reporting still online

 Hello

I'm having some problems with the status.xml file.

I wrote a script, which gets the status.xml information, and checks if
 the
gateway is online, also I have the different SMSC connection which I
want
to monitor. To test an interrupt to a (working ) emi connection I just
unplugged the networkcable. when I refresh the status.xml, the
connection
 is
still online. Also there are two different behaviours:

 - with version 1.4.1 (which I am using on a customer)

Re: sqlbox and wap push

2010-01-08 Thread Sam
Thanks Alex .. as you would see below.. the problem is not with the UDH but
with the msgtext. Unfortunately i dont have any idea on how to fix this.
Please advise I have included here my BB log for both cases and the SQL
statement i am using to insert into SQLBox.

TIA.
