I've not done this, but a little googling and reading shows that to create a
bootable live
USB drive under windows you should download and install on window the
"MediaWriter".

https://getfedora.org/fmw/FedoraMediaWriter-win32-4.1.1.exe

Run it, and follow the instructions.

Problem installing Fedora 29

2019-01-02 Thread William Oliver
I just bought a brand new little HP laptop and decided to try to
install Fedora 29. I created the bootable flash drive in Windows using
Rufus. When I try to boot from the flash drive, I get the following
error:

[ 8.520307] dracut: FATAL: Failed to mount block device of live image:
Missing NTFS support
[ 8.530427] dracut: Reufusing to continue
[ 9.112611] reboot: System halted

Any help would be appreciated!

Heads up: if you read a zero length *.mp4 file with VLC, the error
windows will pop up, start to shimmer, eventually kill VLC,
and you will get Logged out -- losing everything you had open.
You can log back in, but nothing seems to work quite right until
 you reboot.

You said "VLC 5.0.3".

[root@f29b-xfce ~]# rpm -q vlc
vlc-3.0.5-4.fc29.x86_64

And updates-testing only has 3.0.5-10.  Thus my question.

I suppose I should have checked the https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ site first.
They have
only 3.0.5 as the most recent version.

Yes, Xfce 4.13 in a fully updated F29 VM.

You must have the same problem when you ssh into ipa-master. Your
bashrc's PS1 is missing quotes.

Re: SSH copy failure from Fedora server to any client

2019-01-02 Thread Greg Woods
It looks like the shell on ipa-master.biszumbitterenen.de is outputting to
the terminal during the login process (maybe echo statements in the
.bashrc?), which can prevent scp from working correctly.

SSH copy failure from Fedora server to any client

2019-01-02 Thread 74cmonty
Hi,
I setup my first Fedora 29 server (for FreeIPA).

Now I need to copy a file to another client.
When I execute scp I get this in terminal (after entering password) and file is
not transferred:
[admin@pc7-cubi3 ~]$ scp
locad...@ipa-master.biszumbitterenen.de:/tmp/client1.keytab krb5.keytab
The authenticity of host 'ipa-master.biszumbitterenen.de (192.168.100.252)'
can't be established.
Password:
\033[0m\033[1;34m /:-:\ \033[0m\033[1;34m
locadmin\033[0m\033[1m@\033[0m\033[0m\033[1;34mipa-master.biszumbitterenen.de\033[0m

I didn't experience any similar issue on other Linux distros (Arch, Debian,
Suse).

Can you please advise what's causing this error?
