Plasma Launch Feedback
Hi, I have the Plasma program launch feedback enabled in system settings, and the icons on my desktop have launch feedback enabled, but when I run a program from the desktop or from the task bar I don't get any launch feedback in F34. I am running F34 in a Vmware Player vm, but I would have thought that was irrelevant. Is anyone else seeing this or know what I am missing to actually enable this functionality? regards, Steve ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam on the list, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure

[389-users] issues migrating from RHEL6 to rhel7 (1.2 to 1.3)
Hi all, I'm running into some migration issues trying to get my hosts off of RHEL6. I currently have a single supplier and multiple consumers and am trying to add a new supplier on RHEL7. I was hoping to do so initially by just setting up a replication agreement but have run into the ordering issue described in: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/389-users@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/TMGR3TRFX7GEN3GSM4WCVX5YEQ73MGIC/ As a fallback option, I have tried dumping my existing supplier via ns-slapd db2ldif -r, but when I import I am seeing a number of errors like: [11/Dec/2021:12:49:03.523666969 -0800] - DEBUG - attr_get_value_cmp_fn - Syntax [1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.12] for attribute [creatorsName] does not support ordering Initially I had syntax checking on, which was off in my 1.2 instance. This is why you are getting two jobs. /etc/crontab should not have those two lines. There should be an /etc/cron.hourly/0anacron that calls anacron. The anacron job calls cron.daily and cron.weekly from /etc/anacrontab. That’s why you have two jobs running. They’re both running through cron.daily and cron.weekly twice. Anacron is a dependency for cronie (the cron daemon) and is normally enabled. In your case, most likely it is just running the /etc/cron.daily or /etc/cron.weekly jobs you have defined, when you boot your system. The thing is, Anacron only runs if you boot after the scheduled job is supposed to run out of cron. It shouldn’t run twice. So maybe you have your backups scheduled in more than one place? Anyway, I agree with the others, use a lock file to prevent running simultaneous backup jobs. There are ways to do this with simple shell logic, with the “dotlockfile” executable. — Jonathan Billings ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam on the list, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure

lightdm - how to set profile picture
I reinstalled the XFCE spin. Previously, the ancient, upgraded, Fedora install originated as a default Gnome install. I switched to XFCE at some point later. lightdm used to show my profile picture on my login screen. I have a distinct recollection of either something in settings, or from the panel that opened a tool which prompted me to select a picture, interactively crop it, and that became my profile picture. But I cannot find any readily advertised tool to set my profile picture, after an XFCE spin install. A few minutes spent in Google led me to /var/lib/AccountsService/users Looking in there, I can see that I should be able to set my profile picture by installing $HOME/.face Is this actually the way to go, these days? There's nothing in settings that invites a non-technical user to select their mug shot, for their profile picture?
