Wifi and sound broken after kernel upgrade 5.3.16 -> 5.4.7
Hey everyone, I'm on Fedora 31 and recently upgraded my kernel from 5.3.16 to 5.4.7, and now my sound (via snd_hda_intel) and wifi doesn't work; the wifi options in GNOME are missing, and my only sound device is the default PulseAudio "Dummy Output". Re: OT: replace a timestamp across multiple files
The way I've solved this in the past is to create a zone file template with "variables" in the text that are easy to find. EG: [TIMESTAMP] is where the number goes. All my zone files are managed by a script that parses the template files with values appropriate for each domain. Re: PHP-FPM, PHP code in browser
I've checked all of these to no avail. So I did a firm reset, not only removing RPMs but also deleting any and all stale config files in /etc. Now, after re-installing the RPMs, the default directory (/var/www/html/phpinfo.php) works fine. However, the site config file doesn't work, I get PHP code. Now starting with very basic configs and stepping forward, line by line, until I find the configuration lines that work. Best experience for high resolution touch screen laptop?
I'm a long time Fedora/KDE fan (since KDE 1.x days) and am just getting familiar with my new Dell Precision M3800, and am experiencing a few issues. 1) You can go "too much resolution", especially when used in conjunction with external displays. Default is 3200x1800 which isn't bad when I increase font and icon size, but then it looks garish on a "normal" resolution (1080) external monitor. Until I upgrade my other displays, I'd like to underdrive my screen to 1680x1080 but that resolution doesn't show on the KDE display settings dropdown - anything under max res is in 4:3 resolutions. EG: 1600x1200, etc. How would I "assert" 1680x1050? I see this resolution when booted into Windows so I know the hardware supports it. (This is the first time in several years that Fedora/KDE hasn't "just worked") 2) KDE with Fedora 21 doesn't seem to multitouch. Is there a way to enable this capability? Also, when using multiple screens, the touch goes to the wrong screen! (when I touch the touch screen and the mouse appears on the external display) Is Gnome significantly ahead of KDE in this respect? I've posted the output: http://hal.schoolpathways.com/ben/dmesg.txt http://hal.schoolpathways.com/ben/xrandr.txt http://hal.schoolpathways.com/ben/lspci.txt http://hal.schoolpathways.com/ben/lsmod.txt Thanks, Ben -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? Actually in one of my server , i m having strange result, i can not see any value update for lan interface in interrupts. cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 CPU2 CPU3 0:124 0 0 78 IO-APIC-edge timer 1: 0 0 0614 IO-APIC-edge i8042 8: 0 0 0 1 IO-APIC-edge rtc0 9: 0 0 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi acpi 12: 0 0 0159 IO-APIC-edge i8042 19: 0 13411 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi ata_piix, ata_piix 21: 0 0 70 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:usb1 23: 0 0 32 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:usb2 40: 229974 0 0 0 HPET_MSI-edge hpet2 41: 0 85867 0 0 HPET_MSI-edge hpet3 42: 0 0 73987 0 HPET_MSI-edge hpet4 43: 0 0 0 106848 HPET_MSI-edge hpet5 45: 0 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge aerdrv, PCIe PME 46: 0 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge aerdrv, PCIe PME 47: 0 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME 48: 0 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME 49: 0 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME 50: 0 0 0 219714 PCI-MSI-edge 51: 10880 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge _ 52: 4 0 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge em1_ NMI: 44 16 8 29 Non-maskable interrupts LOC:282248158 68 Local timer interrupts SPU: 0 0 0 0 Spurious interrupts PMI: 44 16 8 29 Performance monitoring interrupts IWI: 0 0 0 0 IRQ work interrupts RES: 6283 2718 2153 5353 Rescheduling interrupts CAL:128100228278 Function call interrupts TLB: 15 33 12 22 TLB shootdowns TRM: 0 0 0 0 Thermal event interrupts THR: 0 0 0 0 Threshold APIC interrupts MCE: 0 0 0 0 Machine check exceptions MCP: 78 78 78 78 Machine check polls ERR: 0 MIS: 0 em1 is my lan interface. ifconfig em1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:0A:E6:A2 inet addr:192.168.100.152 Bcast:192.168.100.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::225:90ff:fe0a:e6a2/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:216457 errors:0 _dropped:16064_ overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:12715 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:36976063 (35.2 MiB) TX bytes:2391031 (2.2 MiB) _Interrupt:16_ Memory:fb5e-fb60 loLink encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) But i can not see any 16 irq no. in cat /proc/interrupts. Re: irqbalance in fedora15
Yes, I want to set manually irq afinity for my lan interface on multiple cpus. How to do it? Benjo Actually, in my experience you'd want each device (or actually each irq - especially in the case of multi-queue device) to fall squarely on one CPU core by manually setting the irq_affinity. I place very little faith on automated irq balancing. - Gilboa On Saturday, October 29, 2011, Benjamin <mailto:benjo11...@gmail.com>> wrote: > Hi, > > I want to configure irqbalance on both cpus.I have 2 lan interface one is wan and second is lan , currently i have 2 cpu and wan is falling on cpu0 and lan is also falling on cpu0.And now i want to set both interface should be fall on both cpus. > > How to do it? > > cat /proc/cpuinfo > processor: 0 > vendor_id: GenuineIntel > cpu family: 6 > model: 23 > model name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz > stepping: 10 > cpu MHz: 2933.727 > cache size: 3072 KB > physical id: 0 > siblings: 2 > core id: 0 > cpu cores: 2 > apicid: 0 > initial apicid: 0 > fdiv_bug: no > hlt_bug: no > f00f_bug: no > coma_bug: no > fpu: yes > fpu_exception: yes > cpuid level: 13 > wp: yes > flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts aperfmperf pni monitor tm2 ssse3 lahf_lm dts > bogomips: 5867.45 > clflush size: 64 > cache_alignment: 64 > address sizes: 36 bits physical, 48 bits virtual > power management: > > processor: 1 > vendor_id: GenuineIntel > cpu family: 6 > model: 23 > model name: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz > stepping: 10 > cpu MHz: 2933.727 > cache size: 3072 KB > physical id: 0 > siblings: 2 > core id: 1 > cpu cores: 2 > apicid: 1 > initial apicid: 1 > fdiv_bug: no > hlt_bug: no > f00f_bug: no > coma_bug: no > fpu: yes > fpu_exception: yes > cpuid level: 13 > wp: yes > flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts aperfmperf pni monitor tm2 ssse3 lahf_lm dts > bogomips: 5866.47 > clflush size: 64 > cache_alignment: 64 > address sizes: 36 bits physical, 48 bits virtual > power management: > > > cat /proc/interrupts > CPU0 CPU1 >0:258743 IO-APIC-edge timer >1:653651 IO-APIC-edge i8042 >8:17989402243825 IO-APIC-edge rtc0 >9: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi acpi > 12: 5479 68 IO-APIC-edge i8042 > 14: 0 0 IO-APIC-edge ata_piix > 15: 0 0 IO-APIC-edge ata_piix > 16: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb5 > 18: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb4 > 19: 465089 466793 IO-APIC-fasteoi ata_piix, uhci_hcd:usb3 > 21: 81532619593 IO-APIC-fasteoi p2p1 > 23: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2 > 40: 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME > 41: 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME, pciehp > 42: 0 0 PCI-MSI-edge PCIe PME, pciehp > 43:138330 PCI-MSI-edge i915 > 44:7261040445 PCI-MSI-edge p10p1 > 45:143147 PCI-MSI-edge hda_intel > NMI:876739 Non-maskable interrupts > LOC:51029163854827 Local timer interrupts > SPU: 0 0 Spurious interrupts > PMI:876739 Performance monitoring interrupts > IWI: 0 0 IRQ work interrupts > RES: 5645 5530 Rescheduling interrupts > CAL: 1424 1909 Function call interrupts > TLB: 24029 20181 TLB shootdowns > TRM: 0 0 Thermal event interrupts > THR: 0 0 Threshold APIC interrupts > MCE: 0 0 Machine check exceptions > MCP:883883 Machine check polls > ERR: 1 > MIS: 0 > > Regards, > Benjamin > > -- Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines

Re: how to bind single interface with more than one cpu
Hi, I found that for irq distribution across multiple cpus CONFIG_IRQBALANCE must enabled in kernel.so i tried to check in my existing kernel but i m not getting it in config-2.6.40.6 so i downloaded 3.0.4 but when i m going to compile it , i try to find irqbalance optionn in menuconfig. But not getting such option. So please tell me from which option or module , i will be having irqbalance enabled in my kernel.? Re: how to bind single interface with more than one cpu
Hi, I tried to change value in interface interrupt's smp_afinity value as per my understanding , smp_afinity values 1 for cpu0 2 for cpu1 4 for cpu2 8 for cpu3 that way cpu0+cpu1 = 1 + 2 = 3 so i set different values for test .but each time it only binds with single cpu from cpu0 / cpu1 / cpu2 or cpu3. i also start cpuspeed service and irqbalance --oneshot. But same result.i am not able to use more than 1 cpu for single interface. Re: getting packet dropperd on interface
Hi, my output of command : ethtool -g em1 Ring parameters for em1: Pre-set maximums: RX:4096 RX Mini:0 RX Jumbo:0 TX:4096 Current hardware settings: RX:1024 RX Mini:0 RX Jumbo:0 TX:1024 before current value for RX and TX are 256 and i increased it by 1024 for both RX and TX. But still we having packet loss on interface. How to verify that buffer full for RX and TX? Regards, Benjo What does ethtool -g em1 say? A very common reason of dropping packets is that the rx and tx buffers have been full. In this case, you can increase the count with ethtool -G switch and check again. -- Soham On Sat, Oct 15, 2011 at 4:47 PM, Benjamin <mailto:benjo11...@gmail.com>> wrote: Hi, lspci -v 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection Subsystem: Super Micro Computer Inc Device 040d Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18 Memory at fb5e (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K] I/O ports at dc00 [size=32] Memory at fb5dc000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: [c8] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [d0] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+ Capabilities: [e0] Express Endpoint, MSI 00 Capabilities: [a0] MSI-X: Enable+ Count=5 Masked- Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting Capabilities: [140] Device Serial Number 00-25-90-ff-ff-39-70-0e Kernel driver in use: e1000e Kernel modules: e1000e Thanks, Benjamin On 10/15/2011 04:41 PM, Reindl Harald wrote: > Am 15.10.2011 13:09, schrieb Benjamin: >> OS : FEDORA 15 64 BIT >> LAN INTERFACE IS ONBOARD GIGABIT LAN CARD > this is no information > > WHAT network-card is on the board? > lspci is your friend! > > > > -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org <mailto:users@lists.fedoraproject.org> To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines

Re: gdesklets
Thx for your reply! That sounds not rely good with regard to gdesklets. Also because i like the desktop extensions of gdesklets. Does anyone know if there is another applications by which you can add weather, notices and stuff like that on the desktop, because in the gnome-extensions i could not find anything. /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0b removed!
Hello everybody! I have made a big s***!While trying get the literatur program "Mendeley" getting started a tried to create links. Because the linking did not work i removed the link the following link. In exact i did the follwoing: [r...@banjo lib]# ls /usr/lib/libssl.so* /usr/lib/libssl.so.10 /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0b [r...@banjo lib]# unlink /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0b libssl.so.0 unlink: zusätzlicher Operand „libssl.so.0“ „unlink --help“ gibt weitere Informationen. [r...@banjo lib]# unlink /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0b [r...@banjo lib]# ls /usr/lib/libssl.so* /usr/lib/libssl.so.10 [r...@banjo lib]# yum install openssl There was a problem importing one of the Python modules required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was: libssl.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Please install a package which provides this module, or verify that the module is installed correctly. It's possible that the above module doesn't match the current version of Python, which is: 2.7 (r27:82500, Sep 16 2010, 18:03:06) [GCC 4.5.1 20100907 (Red Hat 4.5.1-3)] If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please go to the yum faq at: http://yum.baseurl.org/wiki/Faq However, -- I tried to search the internet to solve this problem but i found no help! So how and were do i get the lib "libssl.so.1.0.0b" and how should a link this with /usr/lib/libssl.so.10. Please help!
