In quite a number of cases they are not paid for it, so given that you may or may not get it fixed. And if I was a volunteer for a project and my "supervisor" started harassing me, then you would need a new maintainer for that project. Remember they are not being paid and you are not paying for the product. Even when one has an expensive paid support contract getting some things fix is still often impossible/difficult and in that case there is some limited contract requirements for the support organization to help you. Remember most of the less used parts are volunteers they may or may not have time to fix the bug. I have fixed a few bugs that were in stuff that I used and that I was pretty sure there was no paid person to maintain. I submitted the fix/patch back to fedora and they fairly quickly put that patch into an update. This is how open source generally can work, others see the bug, figure out the fix and submit the fix. Antonio: Right up front I'll say I have no idea about the various problems you report (apparently) from having used fedup. However, this last one, you almost certainly DO NOT need to reset the machine. If I read you right, it's stuck in the screensaver, you can't authenticate to get back to your login. If that's right, you can do one of at least a couple different things: 1. try CTRL-ALT-BKSP, which should kill your X session and return it to a login. Note that this only happens if that response to CTRL-ALT-BKSP hasn't been disabled by default. 2. switch to another VT, log in, kill the X session that's stuck. 3. probably a dozen other choices that don't come to mind right now. In my F19 system, CTRL-ALT-BKSP seems to be disabled by default. you can enable it in the gnome tweak tool. click "typing" and in the resulting list select "Key sequence to kill the X server", set it to "Control + Alt + Backspace. then the next time you have this kind of fail, just do the 3-finger-salute and voila. F18: what to to do when plymouth is not loading charge image at boot time
After updating my laptop from F17 to F18, at boot time I get a progression line at screen bottom instead of the standard charge image in the centre of the screen. Of course I have rhgb set in grub configuration file. What shall I check?? Please note that it was working in F16 and F17. -- Antonio M Skype: amontag52 Linux Fedora F18(Spherical Cow) on Acer 5720 http://lugsaronno.altervista.org http://www.campingmonterosa.com -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question?
